RE: Magmount Ham antenna on rooftop AC?

Here's what I used to do many years ago when I installed two way radios for a living. When an ambulance or anything else with a fiberglass roof came into the shop I would first pick out the place for the antenna where it was going to be easiest to run the coax. I would then clean the fiberglass and lay down a 36" square of stainless steel adhesive backed tape, usually comes in a two inch wide roll. Then I would mount the antenna in the center of the square as I would if it was a metal roof. SWR and performance was just like a metal roof. In your case I would use only a quarter wave antenna to avoid hitting structures.

RE: Trying to find a mounting pin - Cannot locate

The are used on the 3 point hitch on farm tractors, and come in different sizes/categories, o, I, II, etc.
Dusty R nailed it. I just bought a couple of them for my tractor. I got them at the local "Farm Fleet" store. They had several sizes.

RE: Share reasons why you upgraded from a PUP to a HTT or TT?

I went from a PUP to small TT for a couple of reason. One was ease of setup. Park, level, un-hook and I'm done. Another reason, I sleep much better when it is dark and quiet, This is much easier to accomplish in a TT.

RE: Kill-A-Watt Sale

BE AWARE!!!!
I was just about ready to order one of these, then I read the reviews on Amazon. People who have bought them say there is no way to enter the cost of your electricity as there was with the original Kill-A Watt meter, so you only get the usage in KW and then make your own calculations.

RE: Terrible Sound Recording Win 7

I used to use the Audacity program and thought it was great, then I found "Wavepad." I still think Audacity is good, but Wavepad thinks more like I do and gives me a couple of features I could do with Audacity.

RE: Integrated brake controller

I have one in my 2011 GMC and it is the best working controller I've ever used. No bad issues what so ever.

RE: Dogs: When what goes down must come up

My vet told me to use table salt when my doberman ate about three dozen chocolate candy kisses, foil and all. It worked almost instantaneously. I counted 31 wrappers in the mess.

RE: out of control swaying

One thing no one has mentioned is "driver error" and improperly set up trailer brakes.
Here's the scenario; trailer goes into a slight sway, driver panics and hits the TV brakes hard, trailer brake control is not properly setup, hard braking by the TV and poor braking by the trailer brakes will bring a trailer around very quickly.
My personal experience about a year ago. I was going about 65mph with about a 20mph cross wind. My trailers tongue weight was a little lighter than normal, but I wasn't concerned because sway had never been an issue. I hit a large dip in the road and the same time an exceptionally strong gust of wind hit me. My trailer immediately started a violent sway. What I did, I stomped the gas pedal to the floor and reached down and applied the trailer brakes by hand. That maneuver "lengthened the load" and the sway was immediately controlled. I know pressing down on the gas in a situation like that is a hard thing to do, but it works.

RE: Cell Phone That Rejects All Non Personal Callers

Or do what I do since our current administration does not seem to have any interest in enforcing the "Do Not Call List." If I do not recognize the number as someone I would like to talk to I just send it to voice mail. If it's someone with a legitimate reason for the call they can leave a message and I will return the call. Ninety nine percent of the unrecognized calls do not leave a message, so I guess I didn't miss anything.

RE: Pictures from Fishing Trip at a serene lake

Right click on the red x and 'open' the photo
I too only see red x's.
When I do this I get the message; "Page can not be displayed."
I see pictures in other threads.

Help, Rough Ride

I have a stretch of concrete road that is fairly new but very rough. The expansion joints were very poorly done and they cause a bounce that can be felt even in a car. On the way out of town with a full water tank, which is in front of the axles, and empty black and gray tanks, which are at the rear of the trailer, the ride is acceptable. On the return trip with an empty fresh water tank and almost full black and gray tanks the ride is unacceptable, the weight has shifted to the rear of the trailer. On the last trip I tried changing the WD bars one link in each direction and could not tell any difference either way. On weighing the trailer I still have over ten percent of the trailer weight on the tongue. That stretch is the only place I don’t have a perfectly smooth ride going both ways.
The trailer is a 23’ with a loaded weight of about 5000lbs. The TV is a GMC extended cab 4 x 4 1500 series with 265 series LT tires. Any body have any ideas as to a solution. Don’t tell me to dump at the camp site as I am rough camping.
Thanks,

RE: Need to adjust rifle floor plate: how tight is 90 in/lbs...?

The only correct way I know of would be with a torque adjustment tool. Try a place like Brownell's. http://www.brownells.com/

RE: Near Miss While Setting Up

I would agree with using wheel chocks on the ground on both sides of the tires. Those roto-chocks,or any brand of between the tire chocks get spit out easy.Search the forums for all the members that forgot to remove them when leaving camp and they just popped out.
I have also watched campers pull out and go right over the chocks on the ground.
I have tested both ways with my camper. It makes more of a "bump" when driving over the ground chocks, but listening to the engine and the amount of "pull" it takes to pop out the "between the wheel chocks" and drive over the "ground chocks" seems to be about the same. Not very scientific I know, just an observation. I use both if on steep ground.

RE: open ground

You need to get someone who knows what they are doing to actually look at your problem. I am a retired electrician and you wouldn't believe some of the cobbled messes I've seen.
