RE: Mountain Driving but no Jake/Exhaust Brake

Start below speed limit down the hill. If it speeds up hit the brake fairly hard at about 5mph above speed limit and slow it down fast to a 5 to 10 mph below speed limit again. Then take your foot off the brake and let it pick up speed again. Repeat. This keeps the heat off the brake pads. Don't ride them all the way down the hill.

RE: Sick to death of this Winter!!!! :(

Only six more sleeps then we will be digging in the spurs and heading for the RGV till mid March. I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas. Everybody in Mission you make sure you hang on to that warm weather for me. We're going to require a lot of thawing.

RE: GPS again

My experience was that the first time I installed Streets & Trips with the GPS receiver plugged in the USB port prior to installation. This did not work. I uninstalled and installed it again without the receiver plugged in. Then I plugged in the receiver to one of the USB ports ( I was in a place where a single was available - not in the house). Then I had to use the configure GPS button and after a short time a menu came up showing which port was occupied by the receiver and I highlighted it and I believe said OK. I now always use the same port and have no problem but once in a while I need to configure the GPS again. Hope this helps.

RE: 5th wheel hitch stuck open ?

When the handle is pulled out(jaws open) the handle locks in the open position. You need to move the handle sideways to snap it back to the closed position. Remember to leave the jaws closed (BUT THE SAFETY LEVER OFF) when hooking up. As you hook up you will see the handle move out and then snap back in when you are hooked. I still do a manual check after this to ensure the jaws are around the pin correctly and I do a test pull to make sure everything is OK.

RE: Southern Texas campgrounds

We have been going to the RGV last number of years. This year we are going to a different RV Park again, although we have visited it in the past. It is an older park but has an indoor pool as well as other activities. It has storage at very reasonable rates. Please see attached link. Bluebonnet RV Park

RE: Posts created a bit of row...

With a 5th wheel you will be over weight in a big hurry. If I was you I would fill my tank with fuel and then weigh the whole unit. Compare your GVWR against what your actual weight is. The difference is the additional you can carry. My 30 foot is 1140 lbs on the pin with my normal loading. With my additional fuel tank on the truck I am over my GVWR as soon as I add my wife. OOps!
