RE: Seat belts?

We require all passengers to use the seatbelts both RV and car. We will allow them to use bathroom if we are on a straight road with little traffic. Mind you they may not go often.

RE: National Park "Passport Book" Program

Be sure to do one for each kid and one for yourselves! That way the kids can take theirs when they move out and you can still have yours. Kicking myself for not doing this myself!

RE: Grand Tetons

There was also BLM camping not far from Mormon Row in the park. The road was gravel, but passable and there was only one person there when when went last year. We stayed in Coulter Bay, but thought it would be neat to be out of the way and more private in the BLM lands. There were no hook ups here of course.

RE: Grand Tetons

AGREED!!! Great location to tour the area. Nice ranger programs at night too! We stayed there last year on a recommendation from this forum and were not disappointed. Colter Bay RV, full hook ups and a wonderful location. It is right in the park. Don't confuse it with the other Colter Bay, that one doesn't have hookups. You will need reservations, make them now!! It was full every night we were there last summer. There aren't a lot of camping options in the area with fhups.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He added a great deal to this forum helping others. His wisdom will be missed.

RE: Bear Spray: Should I buy some for Yellowstone?

We carried it on our trip last year and we did come across grizzly bears. We didn't have to use it, but were glad we had it. Talking and singing are the best preventive measures. We hiked with our 10 yr old and didn't have any problems. We all can't wait to go back! Enjoy!

RE: Camping concepts

We go out almost every weekend and we like to vary the types of places we go. We prefer out of the way quiet camping, but it is nice to have full hook ups and a pool from time to time. Variety is the spice of life! Happy trails to all!

RE: Aftermarket entrance door lock

I would love to know this too. I want to replace mine too. It just makes sense to use key-less entry. It would allow us so much more freedom at the campgrounds. I carry keys all week for work, and I want to go key-less on the weekend:) Please let us know if you find anything that will work on a C.

RE: How long does it take you to get ready to go?

30 minutes! When we bought it we were given the best advice - outfit it like a second home. We keep it fully loaded with it's own towels, dishes, clothes and even shoes. We only need to load up fresh food and medicines and we can be on the road. We go out every weekend Easter - Thanksgiving and do some dry camping in the winter. what we need we buy on the road.

RE: Sight Seeing With no Car?

We spent a year without having a toad. We traveled a lot in that first year and it was manageable. We just planned ahead to make good use of our travels. Now that we have the toad we spend less time in campgrounds. Sometimes I miss the forced relaxing time not having a toad gave us. Overall, we now take the toad everywhere.

RE: Big meadows in Shanendoah NP

Heading there again this Easter. We love it there! If you have kids they offer great ranger programs. The Junior Ranger program is great and you will all learn a lot from completing it. We also enjoy listening to the informational CD that we purchased at the visitor's center. When you stop at the visitor's center ask the ranger's what has been spotted recently. They have a book that people log sightings and they are happy to share information with you. We have driven it several times in our 31ft C towing a CRV and haven't had a problem. The tunnel is the tightest place, but it isn't that long and it is 2 lanes. Have fun!

RE: Fort Wilderness Price

I think they still honor AAA discounts. If you're a member call and ask if they have special pricing.

RE: Christmas/new years camping

Hershey Park's High Meadow Campground is open. Hershey Park is open for some rides and the light display. The town has some nice shops too.

RE: Drying towels

I just found towels that look like they might be perfect for rving at bed bath and beyond. They are thin and soft. They state that they are quick drying. I think I will pick up one when I get a coupon and try it. We hang ours on an over door hook in the bathroom.

Christmas week camping on east coast

We are thinking of going out for Christmas week. We live in PA and want to go someplace warmer with something to do. We would like to only be at most 15 hours away. We don't want to do Disney, because of the crowds. We have a 11yr old daughter, so we want to go someplace 'Christmasy' I'm at a loss for where to go. Any ideas?

Boston in early Nov

We are thinking of doing Boston the second weekend in November because our daughter is studying the revolution this year in 5th grade. Is it a doable with the weather? We have a class C. We typically go south on this school holiday, but thought some first hand experience would help with her studies. Any full hook up campgrounds you would recommend? Or should we just head south? Thanks all

RE: North East Nov Family Camping?

We went to Assateague Island last year and we had it all to ourselves. The horses were on our campsite in the morning. It was great to have the beach to ourselves and we found so many intact conch shells up and down the beach. There were no hook ups, but we lived off our batteries and holding tank. We were there during teacher's convention too. Looking for a place to go this year. We are thinking colonial Williamsburg.
