Optima Red Top Battery

I have had one of these for my engine starting battery for a little over 4years....it still holds its charge and after a week or so of sitting it will read somewhere around 12.43 - 12.51. Anybody have any thoughts thoughts on when this should be replaced ? To my recollection I don't recall ever deeply discharging it.

RE: RV Covers for Class A

I've been using Adco covers (bought on E bay) for 5 1/2 years on my third cover .....I do it alone.. a bit of a pain takes about 20 minutes to either cover or uncover. The covers last between 2-3 years. My unit stays clean and there has been no sun damage that I can tell.Worth it to me.

RE: Air horns on a gasser???

I mounted a set of Hadley's behind my grill and wired them to sound with the regular horn...took about 2-3hours, they are very loud. Cost was just under $300.

RE: How long should a ADCO RV cover last???

I have been using Adco covers for the last 5 years...I'm on my third one....I get 24-30months before having to replace. I've had no noticeable fading on my graphics and the roof looks great... also no damage to anything for rubbing. Worth it to me.

Back up driver needed Class A Fremont, Ca- Bay Area

I have a medical problem that can put me into a hospital for a number of days. So far it has never happened while we are in the RV.Since my girlfriend cannot drive the RV and has to get me to medical care and our 3 dogs safely home, I would be looking for some help getting the RV back to Fremont.(Generally we don't travel more than 100 miles).
I would like to be prepared just in case,so I wanted to see if I could put a list together of several possible volunteer drivers to return my unit to storage if needed. I would cover all expenses.
I have a 32 Southwind, the unit is kept in Fremont near 680 and Auto Mall.
Perhaps anyone interested could send me a P.M. and we could exchange phone numbers.
Thanks
Terry

RE: quick advice on fleetwood southwind

Had my 1997 Southwind 32VS for almost 6 years....it has been a great unit, like the floor plan...almost nothing has needed repairs...until this weekend...I'm still trying to sort that out.Still extremely happy with the unit.

ABS Brake System

I have been having some electrical issues lately( which have caused radio static, backup camera static followed by engine stalling with autopark deployment- still trying to trouble shoot this)
In any case I now have my ABS warning light on......is there some sort of fuse or reset button I can try.....this may be as a result of my other issues or maybe a true failure.(my owners manual was stolen years ago)
These are first issues in almost 6 years....funny it all happened at once.
AS an aside ,I don't think that I am strong enough to lock up the wheels anyway....in 6 years of driving with some hard stops I've never engaged the ABS . Any opinions on driving without it ? (I am taking it in to shop anyway

RE: Suspected Auto park mal function

I have been doing some trouble shooting on this...I believe that "kd7cxg" has hit on the problem. Yesterday I started up the unit (started fine),dropped in into neutral with brake off but blocked....ran fine for several minutes THEN static in the backup camera, static on the am radio , and THEN the engine quit.....I had no power to the ignition switch for several minutes then just as mysteriously power was restored and it fired up, no static. What is going on ? (I did not move the unit so no vibration to shake anything)
This would lead me to believe a loose connection, but where ? I tried moving the wires coming down the steering column to duplicate the problem but nothing happened.
I have just had the carpets replaced under the drivers area but can not seem to see any issue here ?
Not sure how to proceed from here.
Thanks all

Suspected Auto park mal function

Well, after reading about others with an auto park problem...,I now have my own.(1997 Southwind P30)
We were heading out yesterday for a weekend trip, after pulling forward about 10 feet , the "brakes" slammed on, the engine stalled.....I restarted and drove about 2 miles..all seemed well then I noticed my speedometer acting eratic and same with my backup camera...then all of a sudden the brakes slammed on again and the engine stalled.I restarted but decided to cancel our weekend trip and drove the 2 miles home without incident. There I sit !!
Any ideas here ? I suspect a failure in the auto park system... my guess is that "rotten green switch". I have appt with a shop on Wed, but don't want them to rip me off that why I am searching for a little more information on the autopark system.
Also I have sent oldusedbear a p.m. but he must be away.

RE: RV cover

I have been using an Adco cover for over 5 years...I'm now on my 3rd cover since they only seem to last 2-3 years.I admit it is a PITA to put on or remove, but my rig stays clean and there has been no noticeable sun damage to either the interior or exterior in 5 years. For me it is worth the trouble and expense ( I buy my covers on E bay and pay around $180 for a 32 foot)

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

After 3 years of wanting to replace my carpet......it is finally being done. The main salon being done in oak engineered hardwood, the rest a high quality commercial carpet... it wasn't cheap, but I really like my unit....if I bought a newer one what I'd pay in sales tax here in Calif (9.75%) would pay for my carpet 3 times over. How is that for rationalizing ?

RE: House/Pet sitting: What do you pay?

I pay $50 per day for an "older couple" that move into the house while I'm gone. They also water plants... been using them for 10 years.

RE: Leaving dog in camper

We have 3 mini poodles and routinely leave them for up to 4-5 hours. Before leaving a long walk.... they are not barkers. Also we leave the vents open and crack 2 windows for cross ventalation. Been doing this for almost 6 years...never had a problem.

Carpet odor

I have an odor similiar to a pair of old sweat socks coming from a small spot in my carpet next to the bed...while not overpowering it is noticeable, and bothersome.
I've tried wet shampooing the area, also sprayed Lysol on it, put those odor absorbing rocks next to it....nothing seems to work.
Anyone have any ideas ?
Thanks
