RE: Why Would I Want a Bread Machine?

I have a Hitachi brand - I can vouch for the quality because I have had it for over 10 years and use it about once a month. Like others, I don't bake in it too often. I like to make french bread, it is so much better than store bought. I also make pizza a lot and just came really close to duplicating Lou Malnati's famous crust.

RE: Blown windshield

Our dealership uses Rainbow Glass in Roselle. I don't have any experience with them, but I agree with you about the dealership never getting anything right.

RE: Anyone painted the walls?

We wallpapered with paper made to be painted. It is textured. It turned out great and was very easy. http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o131/funcampin/IMG_0867.jpg?t=1257268839

RE: One pot tuna casserole

Tried Blatz on Cherrios when arising from a alcohol induced coma as a memebr of our armed forces. That don't work out so well. LOL - a Blatz from the past......that stuff is hard to find now. We have a friend that loves it and makes special trips "behind the cheddar curtain" to buy it.

RE: One pot tuna casserole

I do the same thing only with cheddar cheese, and no PEAS! The kids and hubby love it, and I have to make it anytime the kids come home. Ditto, but I add extra mushrooms. And ditto to the kids loving it.

RE: Looking to buy, where is the best place to look?

RVonline.com is a good site. They show the RV's that have actually sold, so you can get a better feel for SELLING price rather than asking price. Also, you can copy the ads and paste into an excel spreadsheet and sort the data any way you wish; price, brand, type of RV, etc. It makes it easy to compare what is available.

RE: cleaning Day/Night shades

I got a ketchup stain out with Oxyclean. They are 5 years old and it didn't leave a "clean" stain.

RE: Damon vs. Winnebago

It is a mistake to make a buying decision on cabinet pulls, fixtures, etc. Manufacturers do this on purpose as a sales tool and to disguise inferior structural and mechanical construction. Tell that to the folks that own Monaco's, Tiffin's or Newmar's. In addition to workmanship, your buying decision should also consider safety and driving stability. I didn't say that the buying decision should be made on cabinet pulls, fixtures, etc. I said "I also like the hardware like the drawer knobs, cabinet pulls, bathroom fixtures and lighting that Damon uses." I consider the safety of all Class A DP's to be about the same because I haven't been able to find any "crash test data" on any of them. In test driving both Damon's and Winnebago's I have found no difference in the driving stability. They seem equal to me when I test vehicles that are equal in length and wheelbase. Assuming the OP is considering a GAS coach. Gas MH's are notorious for poor handling. There is rarely a day on this forum where someone isn't complaining about the crappy ride of their coach. IMHO, this goes to the issue of safety. There is enough aftermarket equipment to correct and eliminate these problems. I gotta wonder why the manufacturers don't include these items on their coaches, or at least offer them as an option. The reason??? It doesn't sell motorhomes. What does sell motorhomes??? Beautiful cabinet pulls, etc.....

RE: Kitchen Cabinet Organization

For cups, I bought a piece of 3" foam and cut it to the size of the cabinet. Then I cut several holes in it about 3" diameter and put the foam on the bottom of the shelf. Then set the cups in the holes. You can also stack the cups and they shouldn't move around. This would probably also work well for cans and jars too.

RE: No Crust Apple Pie

A little off subject, but last week I made apple pies with Honey Crisp apples. This is a fairly new variety that is quickly getting very popular in our area. I have to say, these made the BEST apple pie ever. If you can get these in your area, you should try them. They are the best IMHO for eating too.

RE: Damon vs. Winnebago

I have looked at Damon's and Winnebago's. I like them both. The Damon products seem to offer more bang for the buck. I also like the hardware like the drawer knobs, cabinet pulls, bathroom fixtures and lighitng that Damon uses. The 2008 Damon has a TPO roof. Unfortunately, the Thor/Damon, Thor/Fourwinds products seem to get bashed by members of this forum. I think that they make a darn good product. Get the one that has the best floorplan for your use. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. It is a mistake to make a buying decision on cabinet pulls, fixtures, etc. Manufacturers do this on purpose as a sales tool and to disguise inferior structural and mechanical construction. In addition to workmanship, your buying decision should also consider safety and driving stability.

RE: how to prepare hotwings

I buy fresh chicken wings and deep fry them with just a light flour coating. Then dunk them in hot sauce. Ditto - the only way.....the flour coating helps the hot sauce to stick. I mix the hot sauce with melted butter - less butter if you want them spicier, more butter if you want them milder

RE: What do you think of this used RV and price?

I test drove this RV and liked it, but wondered if a more expert person could offer me more guidance on what I should be looking for and/or worried about. What do you think about the price? This model in general? I am a solo woman RVer, hoping to be fulltime by spring. Thanks! Jennifer Where did you test drive it? We had a 32 footer and it never handled well on the interstates and expressways. It was too lightweight and got pushed around a lot by wind and passing semi's. Nobody likes a white knuckle driving experience.

RE: Oreo Truffles

These sound and look great. I'm going to try them next week: Orea Truffles 1lb 2oz pkg of oreos 8 oz softened cream cheese 1 lb melting chocolate wafers-melted Grind cookies in food processor until fine, transfer to bowl and mix in cream cheese, roll into 1 inch balls. Dip or coat balls w/ chocolate. Let dry on wax paper. Decorate as desired. Had these before - they are heavenly! It is easier if you chill the mixture before trying to dip them in the chocolate.

RE: Do you enjoy watching movies in your coach?

Short answer YES: Some years ago, back when I lived in a stick house I got a few REPLAY TV units.. These are kind of like TiVo on steroids. Now today's TiVo's do most of this but Replay has been doing it.. for a long time.. Replays are no longer made far as I know (You can still get TiVo though) The two Replays do need to see the internet every couple of weeks. (I have 3 but the 3rd is a spare for parts now.. It works, 100%, save it's not activated or rather it's been de-activated monthly fee. the two I use are "lifetimes" (no fee) WHen it sees the net it, or rather a computer connected to my LAN, download channel guides. the computer then "Serves up" the channel guide to the Replays (They can go direct but ... Well, the computer method gives me more options) Then I can program them to record one or two shows (two units, two shows) at one time.. My DVD recorder can snag a 3rd when I get another DVD RW, Then the replays will let me either 1: Watch the show on the machine that recorded it 2: Watch the show on another machine connected to the LAN 3: Download the show to a computer (IE: This laptop) For "Remote viewing" off the lan 4: Stream the show to a computer (IE: this laptop) ON the lan 5: One of them can, if connected, sent the show to someone with a same model REPLAY elsewhere via the internet (Since it's not connected it can not do this just now) or.. Receive shows recorded by someone else on a same model unit. Once the show is on the computer I can burn it to DVD So, I watch a lot of movies.. When whe have park cable, We "Load up" the Replays, one is 250 hour capacity and the other 40. Plus I can store over 100 hours on the connected computer if I start running out of room and serve it back later as needed. We have one of these..are you saying it will work without paying for the monthly service fee?

RE: trying to make new camper parking laws in cook country

From the Village of Schaumburg: "Hello, We have looked into this, and Cook County does not have any jurisdiction over RV storage within incorporated Schaumburg, nor do they have any jurisdiction over village streets, and they cannot prohibit RV's from using county roads or highways. Therefore any ordinance decision they make would only have jurisdiction in those patchy areas of Cook County which are not incorporated. So, the upshot; no impact on Schaumburg residents. Thanks. Chris"
