RE: UV Light Caution

If that is true, why don't my transition lenses turn dark when I'm driving? (They turn darker based on how much UV light they are exposed to.
...
Be aware that auto and truck windows offer no UV protection, not even the darker tints on the latest vehicles.

RE: Housing prices

There is lots of pent-up demand in many areas. Home prices in our city are moving up fast. Once the newest Intel factory is in production, I hope they go even higher.

RE: WDH Hitch Ball Angle Issue

My draw-tite setup that uses a friction bar for sway control and spring bars for weight distribution also has washers to adjust the angle of the ball.
installation instructions
The OP saying washers, I am going to assume he has an Equalizer hitch. But, then I can just be an assumer....

RE: Best WDH with Sway Control for Small Trailer

Not only it it light (GVWR less than 4,000 lbs), it's also just 21 feet long.
Our old trailer was the same length and much heavier and the friction bar was all we needed. Our tow vehicles were a Durango and Grand Cherokee.
That light... Standard WD hitch and single friction sway bar would be more than adaquate.
Thanks

RE: Reality TV shows are degrading

I used to watch Ax Men mostly to learn about how a modern logging crew works since I can see their clear cuts from my house. After a couple of seasons we got tired of all the fighting and swearing and gave up on them.
I watch Pawn Stars and American Pickers once in a while just to see what kind of odd items people find. We tried to visit the pawn shop last fall and there was a line around the building and we didn't feel like standing out in the hot sun that long. :)
Even most of the shows about restoring old cars or building custom cars seem like they are more about arguments between the people on the show than the cars. Overhaulin' is still pretty good and so is Wheeler Dealers on BBC America, even if they do have a low opinion of American cars.

RE: Campfires: Love them or hate them?

We're usually tired by the time it gets dark (which is after 9:00 PM in the summer when we do most of our camping) and usually end up inside the trailer with a good book or TV time before lights out.

RE: Diesel vs Diesel #2?

X3.
I've used biodiesel since my Jeep was new (anywhere from B99 in the summer and go down to B5 when it's cold and regular diesel when I'm away from home) and the only plugged filter was from a filling station near my house when I was running low and didn't want to chance it driving to the biodiesel supplier.
The B5 mandated in Oregon actually provides some lubricity that used to be provided by sulfur before the switch to ULSD.
You might run into problems if you have all kinds of crud built up from years of dino juice that is picked up by the biodiesel. link to my biodiesel supplier

RE: Running refrigerator in30 degree weather

The freezer portion of our fridge will keep items frozen all day when it's 80°F and we are on the road if we add some ice blocks along with the frozen pizzas we put in there. I wouldn't worry about the freezer thawing very fast when the temps are near freezing.

RE: What's your " OH man did I mess up"

Leaving our awning up. We drove into town and small storm brought a big gust of wind that flipped it over the top of the roof. I payed our dealer to fix the damage and I think they might have missed some as there was lots of water damage on the wall and floor after it sat out in the rain all winter in the storage lot.

RE: Whatever became of instrumental recordings?

I was born in 1968 and like some of the old instrumental music that was before my time. One of my favorite songs is "The Happy Organ" from 1959.
My music collection has very few albums released after 1990 and most of those are from older acts that have been around a long time such as Rush, Yes, and Bon Jovi.
It could just be me slowly turning into an old codger, but it seems like bands back in the 70s had much better musicians than the stuff that comes out today.

RE: charge TT batteries from tow vehicle?

All three travel trailers we've owned only had one battery.
The TV hookup is designed to maintain the breakaway battery.. Not charge the house batteries.

RE: Dodge through tree?

We've driven both of our Jeeps through the tour thru tree near crescent city. My father-in-law also drove his Dodge ram from the late 90s through the same tree although it did scuff the molding on one side. At least it gave him something to talk about when he got home. :)

RE: Nothin particlar

There has been at least one pair of eagles nesting in the wetlands near our house since we moved there in 2005. Up until a couple of weeks ago, I hadn't seen them flying together until I was doing some volunteer trash removal in the wetlands. We hear them over the house regularly. I've always hoped that the 80-ft doug fir trees at the back of the yard provide enough cover to keep our cats safe. :)

RE: I HATE MY BEST FRIEND!

One of my friends bought 1976 Dodge Dart in the early 90s that was literally only driven to church on Sunday and to the grocery store once a week for many years. It was in perfect condition until a drunk driver ran into her and totaled the car. :(

RE: The way we used to do it.

Speaking of bad/distracted drivers -- here's a scary news story. Our sheriff's office did an enforcement blitz looking for illegal cellphone usage and six deputies could only stop about 1/3 of the violators they witnessed.

RE: Need help after a not so great inspection

There is a post on the 2nd page with the following link.
My state also prohibits having part of a vehicle lower than the bottom of the rim. What would happen if the tire blew out and was ripped to shreds? That U-bolt would start digging into the pavement and might cause severe damage to the suspension.
I still can't see how it's illegal though... This is an exceptionally common setup for a travel trailer, car hauler, or utility trailer. I'd want to see the specific statute being violated, not just take somebody's word for it.
