RE: Propane bleed valve

The propane pump stops dispensing when an OPD closes a valve. It's been awhile since I looked at a MH propane tank but I don't recall seeing an OPD valve on them. If you do have an OPD valve on the tank, it can also fail. That's why safety conscious propane dispensers always open the bleed valve. Either way, I would have a professional look at it and repair it properly.

Suburban water heaters use anode rods, Atwood does not.

RE: Northwest Indiana Campground ???

I've stayed at Caboose Lake several times and it's a nice park. However, you do get a lot of noise from the Interstate if you're on that far row. It tapers off at night. I stayed there to visit family in St. John IN. Driving into Chicago could make for a long day.

RE: When to use water pressure regulator on fiver?

Use it every time. A pressure regulator will not drop the pressure lower than what it is set for.
i.e...I have mine set for 45 psi. If the camp pressure is 60, I will get 45. If the camp pressure is 36, I will get 36.
X2. Water pressure may be low when you check it but change at some later time.

RE: Have I plugged up my black tank drain?

... When I flushed the tank I could hear the fluid draining, but the duration was not that long compared to the grey tank, which is of equal volume and full to the same level.
The black tank should empty faster than the gray tank. Gray uses 1.5 inch pipes, black uses 3 inch pipes. However, you may have had a wad of TP clog the valve opening. I agree with the previous posters that you should add water now to prevent all that mess from drying out.
Get to a dump station where you're not rushed. Fill the black tank with water (hose to the toilet or buckets of water), then open the valve again. More water volume should wash all the 'stuff' out. I would also recommend a clear sewer connection so you can see when you have clear (or almost clear) water running out of the tank.

RE: Freshwater Tank Refilling - What Do You Do?

I thought the "thrust" was where to find water....not how to conserve it.
From the OP: what do you do to manage your water use and/or refill your freshwater tank as needed?
Bolding added.

RE: A Shout Out to...

I had very good luck with their customer service when I first purchased my Bighorn. Glad to see things haven't changed much since Thor bought them.

RE: Freshwater Tank Refilling - What Do You Do?

Practice water conservation. Biggest culprit is running water, whether washing dishes, brushing teeth or taking a shower. For dishes, use your biggest pot or a Rubbermaid container to wash the dishes in and another filled with clean water to rinse. For showers, take a navy shower - wet down, turn water off, soap up, rinse. For brushing teeth, fill a coffee cup half full. Wet toothbrush in it, brush teeth, rinse toothbrush in cup, use water in cup to rinse your mouth.
Guys - pee in the woods. Gals - don't use so much TP when you pee. Use leftover rinse and wash water from dishes to fill toilet for flushing solids.

Propane safety

A house in Wisconsin was virtually leveled due to an LP gas explosion. The family was away on vacation at the time. The pix show how powerful the explosion was. Interestingly, there was no fire involved. Kind of makes you think twice about propane safety.

RE: Insurance Question

Not sure who carries your insurance but a fulltimers policy should cover your RV and contents when it's parked. Either way, you should get that clarified, in writing, for your own peace of mind.

RE: Cats????

Keep a spray water bottle just outside your TT door. When you open it from the outside, your cat may be waiting to bolt outside. Position the spray nozzle as soon as you have a crack in the door. One or two sprays should be enough to get the message across.
On edit: My cat also prefers riding in the 5er instead of the truck.

RE: Workcamper membership worth it?

I'm a member and get a daily email with new job postings. I can also look online at previous job postings and the bimonthly magazine.
Is it worth it for you? Only if you get a job from their listings. Or maybe if you get some tips to help land a job from another source.

Please reply by.....

I recently received 2 letters from GMAC Insurance requesting responses by a specific date. I carry fulltimer insurance through Good Sam/GMAC for both the RV and truck. It might be helpful to annotate fulltimer policies with extended lead times for response. We typically don't get mail every day, or even every week.

RE: Rest Areas Safe?

Thank you all for your contribution. I carry a shotgun and its is loaded. I was bothered one time in Atlanta at a wholesale house we stayed at waiting for them to open, someone knocked on the door when he heard the slide go back and a round in the chamber he got lost real fast. I am a retired combat Marine (Korea/Viet-Nam wars) and a retired long haul trucker and its nice to have others openions.
I would sooner answer to the Judge why I killed the intruder rather than be in the morgue waiting for someone to come claim my body.
Be safe and enjoy the ride.
So, just knocking on the door is a capital offense? Even if I just wanted to tell you that one of your tires was flat, I would also have left quickly.

RE: Rest Areas Safe?

Fulltimer for 7 yrs, use rest areas frequently while traveling for overnight stops, usually less than 8 hrs. Yep, they can get noisy at times but never had any security worries and never had law enforcement tell me to move on. No doubt others have had different experiences.

RE: Whose fault is it!!! Follow up to "You forgot to do what".

So, who's fault is it Camping World or Thor's.
the only way to know is to get them to show you the build sheet they faxed/emailed to the manufacture .... that said, at this point I wouldn't really care and agree with those who recommend you immediately exit the area and start over with an outfit who cares
Jim
Good luck with that. I had the same problem when I special ordered my RV. Both the dealer and the manufacturer refused to show me the paperwork that actually got submitted for the order.

RE: Cleaning the Gray water sensors?

Fresh water tank - Once a year I put in a bottle of Thetford Fresh water tank sanitizer. In between those times I periodically will rinse out with some bleach if needed.
Just curious what the active ingredient is in that sanitizer. I saw something similar in another store and it was nothing more than over priced bleach water.
