RE: Need help from fellow TV Owners.

Thanks guys!! I really appreciate it! We'll make sure we match before the first snow in October! Probably sooner! The truck is a 4x2 normally, I have to dial in 4x4, but I do use it during the winter with the 3' drifts we sometimes get.

RE: Need help from fellow TV Owners.

Doesn't lowering my gear ratio, lower my towability? The smaller tires are on the front. We lost the right front and replaced both front. DH was looking to replace back tires with the same size.

Need help from fellow TV Owners.

While in our 4500 mile odessey out west, DH and I lost a TV tire. (Flattened a TT tire too, but that was able to be fixed. Nails are nasty!) 2 tires had to be replaced on the TV since the wear didn't allow for only one. We where out in the wilds and they couldn't match our tire size. We now have 245/70R17 instead of 255/70R17. The load is still 2337 lbs. Rim size is the same. The new tires are M&S tires, though they don't have the mountain with the snow flake indicating extreme snow tires. How has changing from 255 to 245 effected my ability to tow our Passport safely? I know I have to change the other 2 tires before snow season or we put it into 4x4. Thanks! Kath

RE: Keystone Passport vs. Bullet vs. Forest River Surveyor

We have the Passport Ultra Lite 290BH. We love it. Our floor plan is perfect for us and I haven't found another TT yet that I would trade this one for. But like everyone out there, we keep our eyes open for anything new on the market. Haven't had any real issues. Only a small leak around the slide (seems common with all campers) and had it fixed within 4 days of me finding it. I think lots of people would agree with me that your repair facility is your biggest thing. Make sure you are going to be happy with your service facility.

RE: Subrurban WH. gas works but not electric! Help!

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but did you check the fuse? Seems everything has a fuse . . .

RE: New owner, couple MORE questions

I'm not sure if it's safe for rv moulding, but I have been using a 50/50% solution of Hydrogen Peroxide/water on everything in my house (wood flooring, carpets, window sills, etc.) and haven't had any problems. Will be trying myself this week on some suspicious spots in my front pass through storage area of our RV. Oh, it kills mold (actually bubbles it out) and it's gone! Got the tip from a professional office and house cleaning company.

RE: Help! Can anyone tell me what the avg. wait is . . .

I understand that things go wrong and need to be fixed but . . . It took 3 days (and leaving messages) to get ahold of the shop, now I'm told that they can't see me until after Memorial Day. I have an issue with my slide cables. Top back is extremely taunt, the bottom back has a 3 inche bow in it. Soooo, the top is ready to snap and the bottom isn't doing anything at all. The quote? "Well, use it and if it breaks, it's then a warranty issue and will be covered by Keystone. But, it will take me about 2 weeks to get the parts in to replace a snapped cable." Well, I have reservations paid for already for Memorial Day weekend AND reservations to be out west June 13 - June 29. I was also told by the service desk to just call the day before I want to bring it in. Well, with it taking 3 days to get ahold of them this week, forget that. I said "I will be there May 26th. Write me in the book." I can just see this one coming! I'm figuring I'm going to have to travel 2 hours for a good Keystone Auth. service department in the future. I wish I could do this myself, but with warranties and such, and documentation that says only an authorized tech, I'm afraid to mess with these cables.

RE: Help! Can anyone tell me what the avg. wait is . . .

Unfortunately, I wouldn't necessarily say they do it right. My dewinterization wasn't done completely, though I paid for it, and now I may have to replace my water heater heating anode. . .

Help! Can anyone tell me what the avg. wait is . . .

Hi everyone! I'm wondering if you all could help cool me down! It usually takes me three days to get through to the service department of my dealer and then they can never take me for at least two weeks after that. Is this the norm? :E

RE: Ultra-light 31-ft Towing w/ 1/2-ton truck: Experiences

So far we haven't had any problems with the slide. According to documentation we shouldn't even have to do too much to the slide system for the first couple of years. I am aware that we have to do regular maintenance on the seals, but the cables and everything else are supposed to be left alone other than to check for tension to make sure they aren't binding. Then it would be a trip to an authorized Keystone Dealer. One of the things we were told by our original tech was to use a sock with baby powder on the seals (and yes we have all our seals - I've seen all four sides on both the slide and camper - ugh, can't imagine!). Remember though, what you would see would be a different model than I have. Mine says 2009, but we laugh and say it's a 2008 1/2. I don't have the underbelly heater (which would come in handy in IN), or the electric stabilizers, or AM/FM/DVD stereo. We made our own laundry shoot where it would suit us (not where they put the January 2009 model's). I upgraded my AM/FM/CD Stereo on my own to the AM/FM/DVD/CD Stereo that is now standard. I also have scissor jacks instead of stabilizing jacks so I can actually use my jacks to level the rig unlike the newer models which only have stabilizers. So, like with everything, there are pluses and minuses. But, we love our model and our floor plan. It's perfect for the 4 of us and the dog. We had plenty of room for storage when we went our our 10 day trip this past spring break and had extra storage room not even tapped! Good Luck choosing!!

Well music69, we actually own the Passport Ultra Lite 290BH and love it!! If you don't have a problem with 33'3" if trailer behind you, I would highly recommend it. You'll get the entertainment center and the little "bar" behind the kitchenette. We are towing with a 2005 F-150. 5.4L V8 with the tow package. We took it through the mountains of PA, MD, and WV and had no real issues. The Rockies and Bad Lands are next! Good Luck!

RE: Any Bunkhouse Recommendations?

We have a Keystone Passport UltraLite 290BH that we just purchased in September 2008 and WE LOVE IT!!!!! As the models # states it's 29 foot (33' 3" tongue to tail) and 7595 lbs fully loaded (around 5200 lbs dry). The new 2009's are a little heavier because they have added some electronics we don't have, but I still love mine best. keystone-passport.com will show you all their floorplans and the 290BH. (couldn't get the .gif in here - sorry) As for 5ths - my sister just bought a Forest River Cedar Creek, Silver Back GII 34WBH and this also has a bunkhouse in the back (fold up bunks for unused bunks). She loves her's - I think it's 34'. Happy hunting! Don't get overwhelmed!

RE: cross country trip

I have to agree with kknowlton. We are planning the very same trip that he suggested just from our memories and family/friend references. With it being over 700 miles from our house in IN to NJ - I can't imagine doing everything you want, but that's us . . . I'd be afraid you wouldn't be able to appreciate the awesomeness of Yellowstone and all the points through the Dakotas/Montana there are to see on the way. MDH has spent months planning our trip and we have our reservations at Fishing Bridge Campground. This is the only Hard Side required campground that I know of in the park. I hope you enjoy your visit! Remember, some activities and facilities may not be open early in June. Here's the link for the open and close dates on facilities: http://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/open_closedates.htm This is their link for road closures and construction. Oh shoot!!!! Major loop interruption!! http://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/hours.htm Happy camping!!

RE: Black Hills Camping

We have heard nothing but good on the Rafter J Bar also. Highly recommended by some seasoned RV's that we met at a KOA. We'll be staying there ourselves for 4 nights come June. We also have 2 8-year-olds. :)
