RE: Heavier shocks for 1/2 ton
It sounds like your WD hitch is not set up correctly. Your truck may sit "level" but does the trailer? Too much forward or rear pitch will cause bounce. and the WD bars should be paralell to the ground. You use the hitch head adjustment to level the trailer, and the WD bars to level the truck. If all seems fine?, assuming you use a regular chain/bar type setup, go another link or two and see if that helps.
RE: Need New Tow Vehicle-Opinions Please
Careful with an 02 unless you know exactly how much you'll be towing and it can handle it. Back then, the Ram didn't have much of a tow rating...I think it was somewhere near 7k LBS. I know even the newer Hemi powered Ram 1500, when first introduced, was rated that way.
If you've had such good luck with Dodge, I would stick with a Dodge though.
Carringb had a great suggestion. See what TT you're interested in and then look for the appropriate TV. Good luck!
RE: Oil Filter analysis
The problem with the Fram, as well as many others, is the cardboard endcaps that seem to allow oil to drain out of the filter and causing a dry "tick-tick-tick" start up. Wix seem to be one of the best and Purolator is also a decent unit. I think though that in general, most of todays filters will do the job ok.
RE: My Rear Differantial is Toast
I have to agree with Crashpilot. What you were towing had nothing to do with the failure. I tow a heavier TT with a 1/2 ton Titan and it's rear end Dana44 is no match in comparison. The rear diffs don't ever seem to be properly filled at delivery (my Titan included) for whatever reason. But in any event...at least the dealer is covering it for you. And if they don't already use it, I'd suggest a switch to a good synthetic gear lube. Good luck...nice truck BTW.
RE: Titan towing capacity
Are we still playing the baby "buy American"******here? C'mon kids, grow up and educate yourselves...you're really looking quite silly. If you have this American only complex, enjoy. Just don't try and push it on others who have chosen, for whatever reason, to buy something else. I drive a long wheelbase crew cab Nissan Titan but would NEVER tell you your purchase was wrong because it's not Japanese!
Now....back to the topic at hand...
I tow a Jayco TT with a dry weight of about 7k LBS and loaded up close to 8500LBS. This truck tows it amazingly with absolutely no sway. Would I tow a 5er with it?...sure. I would just make sure I still kept within the trucks capacities. There are 5ers up to about 28' or 29' that are withing the trucks capacities but probably not for the 2007 Titan since the 08+ have a higher rating.
Just do your homework before making any possibly dangerous decisions. The Titan is one strong tow vehicle with a fully boxed ladder frame from stem to stern...stronger than even some 3/4 ton trucks out there. But that's only part of the equation. Axle rating, tire rating, transmission, suspension etc...all play a part in these capacites. So....if you can find a 5er within your trucks numbers, you'll be fine. Just don't try haulin' a 3 axle, 15k LB rig....it's just common sense. Best of luck!
RE: Crewcab short box or long box.
The longbed truck is a much better riding truck and far more stable when towing longer TTs. Depending on the truck, the shortbeds can be a PITA when sharp turning or backing into spots.
