RE: Need update info due to weather

I have the weather conditions for both routes, thanks for the link. I'm looking for construction slow downs and the like for the interstates I mentioned in my initial post. Plan on being on the road out of FL by 5AM Saturday morning.

Need update info due to weather

Going to change routes for Saturday morning trip. Weather along I-10 is supposed to be a ton of rain for the next few days. So I need current info for I-75N, I-24W,I-57N I64W prior to starting out. Traveling from FL to MT tia

RE: Missing Exhaust Brake - What Would You Do? UPDATE

It may not be turned on at the transmission. Sounds weird but.... My 2008 Winnebago DP was delivered to the original owner with no exhaust brake working. I spent about 2 weeks getting it straightened out Went to Freightliner and they said it was a Cummins issue. Went to Cummins and the turbo was okay and told me to go to Allison. Went to Allison and they dug around in the archives and found a TSB from Freightliner that stated there was a reflash so the engine control unit could talk to the transmission control unit, thus making the exhaust brake work. A real circus butit now works fine. ymmv

RE: problem with a cummins engine

Change fuel filters?? I read he was getting "black smoke" out the exhaust. That to me does not indicate a fuel starvation problem but perhaps a intake air problem. If this is 'putor controlled try unhooking the battery so it sorta reboots. Could be a fuel management issue.

RE: I-10,12W I-55N

Going from where to where? My recent trip from Florida I bypassed all cities larger than Little Rock: I-10 to Biloxi US-49 to Jackson I-20 to Tallulah US-65 to Pine Bluff I-530 to Little Rock I-40 to Muskogee Turnpike Muskogee Turnpike to Tulsa Depending on where you are going, some or all of that might be useful. That section of I-10 is lightly traveled, as I-10 goes, and none of the construction slows things down. I-10 (and I-12) starts getting bogged down as you get into Louisiana (my route was avoiding that, particularly). Even Jackson to Vicksburg in evening rush hour, and late afternoon through Mobile the day before, wasn't bad. Slidell to Lafayette, either way around the lake, and the I-55/I-40 crossing west side of Memphis, rank as high as Nashville and St Louis on my list of traffic zones to avoid. Going from the Daytona area to the Black Hills. Always went through Atl and so on I-75, 24, 64, 70, 29, 90 and so on. With the road closures and additional construction I thought a different route might be in order. As such I think that I-10,12,and I-55N might eliminate a goodly portion of the problems, at least the road clousures on the weekend.

RE: I-10,12W I-55N

I came through Chattanooga and Nashville this afternoon. No problem in Chattanooga and Nashville was just slow rush hour, but no stops. Lots of traffic. I was driving a car, not towing, but still would have been ok if towing. I may have just been very lucky. As I understand it the problem with interstate closure and construction is on the weekends, which is when I'd be going through.

I-10,12W I-55N

Given all the construction in Nashville and further on I-24 and I-64 I've been thinking of turning the steering wheel and avoiding all of it and Atlanta as well, which is a whole other pia to get through or around. Thinking of running along the Gulf Coast on I-10/12W to I-55N and then catching I-70W in St. Louis A bit longer but hopefully less aggravationon. Anybody traveled this route recently or have any info on it? Like constuction and other things to look out for.

RE: over heated & Broke down, update now in Flagstaff

Okay, 14 pages and no answer as to what caused the overheating? I'm with whoever suggested changing the inj's. I'd be checking that head for warp.

RE: I-24 @Nashville

Sorry if I wasn't clear. I'm approaching Nashville from the south on I-24, continuing north on I-24 through or around Nashville to I-57.

RE: I-24 @Nashville

Will be coming from the south, headed north. When I think of parkways I think of height problems is that a concern?

I-24 @Nashville

I'm reading of a construction shutdown on I-24 on the weekends in Nashville. Plan to head through there in a couple of weeks, does anybody have a drive around that doesn't involve city streets?
