RE: RV Home Theater Issues

Good luck. I have an '07 Montana that had a no-name system in it. No name on the unit, the remote, or the manual. Best thing that happened is it died and I replaced it with a name brand purchased at Best Buy.
Go over and join up on the Montana Owners Club forum. Lots of knowledge and help with your Montana there. I remember someone knowing the brand of those units at one time but I don't remember what it was. I seem to remember they were no longer in business.
I checked out the link but it seems as though the site is abandoned. Too bad as it looks like it was a good site at one time.

RE: RV Home Theater Issues

Thanks for the replies. I have found what you guys have posted but it appears none of it applies to this unit unfortunately. I cannot believe nobody has any info on this thing. It seems to work well but I am having trouble with some of the settings.

RV Home Theater Issues

Anyone have any idea who manufactures this system or where to locate a manual online or otherwise? Just bought a used (very slightly used) 2005 Montana 3400RL. The sound system says "Home Theater System QR2000" but there are no manuals with it and a Google search is not providing any useful information.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Quick Connect Water Hose Adapters?

We use the plastic fittings and have for several years now. I advise against the brass fittings sold at big box retailers since they are not intended for drinking water and may have high lead content. There are metal ones available online that are drinking water safe but they are pricey. The plastic works fine.
If it is truly brass, they are just that... there is no lead content in brass. Stay away from the lightweight brass colored ones as those are some sort of Chinese alloy. I would suggest you not use the plastic either as many plastics leach out toxins into the water and most are made in China.

I use brass connectors. I leave them on 24/7 with no issues.

RE: Seasonal site users -- patio deck mounting?

Insall bracing from post to joist at 45 degree angles in both directions. Built several an they do not move when i'm done. Easy fix. Dave
Exactly. I also use the concrete piers from the big box stores.

RE: Sabre 34TBOK - 3/4 ton or 1 ton?

There really isn't any good reason to buy the 3/4. The 1 ton costs almost the same and gives you that much more capacity.
Good advice. http://www.clicksmilies.com/s1106/spezial/misterX/X_YES2.GIF

RE: blown tire collision or comprehensive

"A collision is an isolated event in which two or more moving bodies (colliding bodies) exert forces on each other for a relatively short time."
Which two bodies were involved? Ask 'em!
In physics, the sudden, forceful coming together in direct contact of two bodies, such as, for example, two billiard balls, a golf club and a ball, a hammer and a nail head, or a falling object and a floor.
The insurance company will try to categorize it as whatever cost them less in the long run. I would fight for it to be covered under comp. Sometimes you have to really lean on them to see it your way.

RE: Microwave turns itself on?

Call them up. Our 2000 had the touchpad done for that exact problem. They sent someone right to my driveway to fix it free of charge. And this was when the trailer was 5 years old as we got it used.
*For safety unplug it if not in use to prevent a fire.

RE: Irresponsible Dog Owners (Rant)

Interesting how you don't like being "pigeon holed" or "labeled" but you are quick to label others. Not all big dogs are bad, not all small dogs are bad. Most dog issues are a result of the owners short comings. I have had large & small breed dogs with great success. I currently have a 4 pound Chihuahua and he is the sweetest dog I have ever met. Rarely barks and has never even so much as curled a lip at another living being. Larger breeds tend to take more heat as they are just that... larger & stronger, so if untrained they can be deadly. Not that a small dog couldn't kill someone, it just doesn't seem to happen. The point here is dogs are the way their owner allows them to be, big or small.

RE: Towing capacity question... help please!

So if a trailer does not list a dry weight, how do I know how to calculate it? A LOT of them I see listed doesn't list it that way.
I forgot to mention this earlier... this subject is volatile and you will get many answers that vary. Anyways, there is a tag on the outside of the trailer usually on the left front of the hull and it is usually also listed on the inside of one of the cabinet doors. I typically find it on a kitchen sink door. The link I gave tends to use the manufacturers numbers so it should be correct. You cannot guess the tow rating by the GVWR as you need several pieces of information to calculate it such as axle gear ratio, tongue weight, etc. My truck also has a GVWR of 7000 and is rated to tow 7200 but it is setup differently than yours. Be aware that most trailer salesman will sell you anything to make a sale. They frequently will sell a buyer a trailer that their tow vehicle is not really capable of towing safely. Do your homework first and go in to the dealership with knowledge of what your vehicle can & can't do.
PS - you can get your truck weighed at a truck stop scale or if you are in a farming community many produce or grain storage/transfer areas have scales.

RE: Towing capacity question... help please!

Hello and welcome to the forums! IF you have the requirements on the page I gave the link to, you can tow up to 6100lbs. That number includes the cargo/people in the vehicle. A good number to be at is 80% of the tow capacity. While you can hook almost anything to the back, you want to do it safely so stay within that 80% range. My 30' TT is an ultralight and it is about 6000lbs but I also have a higher tow rating. I would stay at or below 5000lbs loaded... especially if you will be traveling to places with hills.

RE: Handy Hints, Gadgets, Products & Gizmos

The tape idea sounds a bit dangerous to me. The mirrors work perfectly and not only let me know how much room I have but also if there is anything else on the side of me such as another vehicle, etc. I would suggest bigger mirrors if you cannot focus with your current setup.

RE: Female RVing alone

I don't full-time, but I do go solo often. Here are a few things I will mention that woman camping alone adopt:
1) Upon checking in ask for either the host's number or a ranger station number. Put it as a contact in your cell phone. When the ranger makes his rounds, explain that you're alone and would appreciate that he pay attention to your area.
2) Leave a large dog chain and bowl outside the camper door....whether you have a dog or not. I travel with a dog...always.
3) Keep your car/truck keyfob with alarm handy. If someone approaches you that makes you uncomfortable, etc., that alarm will alert everyone around you very quickly.
4) Unless the CG is very populated, go inside after dark, lock the door, and don't come out until morning.
5) Some keep wasp spray or mace handy.
6) Act confident and in control. It makes a difference.
Go for it and have a blast! My mom and I took her motorhome all over, across many states, with my 3 young kids. Never had a problem
While I think most of your tips are valuable, point number 4 is perplexing. If you feel the need to lock yourself in the camper at night why camp at all? Why leave the house at all cause as we all know... anything can happen any time. Enjoying a nice fire in the evening is part of the romance of camping. While I am all for safety, it seems a bit much to hide out when the sun goes down. If someone wants in, they will get in. Trailers are easily accessible with a small amount of force. Please don't take this as a personal attack, it is just my observation of the situation.
Safe Happy Trails To You! :C

RE: 3000W Chinese Gensets Info.

Found New Champion 3500 remote start in box and never assembled from a home owner that posted it on Craigslist. I ended up paying 300 cash and was happy CAMPER. Hooked up battery, put in oil and gas and remote started her up and runs great. This one will go on my 5ver and will replace my pull start Champ. The pull start goes to my construction jobs and on 5ver all the time
Nice score! While my Champion is not electric start I still love it. Serves me well.
