RE: Banjo Creek- CLOSED

I saw it, but what choice do we or did we have? I went thru a simular thing with another park and the AG of NC was of no help. While I admire Gary's will to fight ,but you should know when you have no chance to win. I can't afford to throw any more money down that rat hole.
Ed
Yes I agree. Perhaps I missed a posting -- I was referring to some earlier threads where he was trying to get others to realize this was not working.
Anyway -- I would agree no way would I have given that CG one more red dime after they began changing ownership/rules in the middle of the game. Some of these threads where they told members to not to talk about your own contract. I could hardly believe what I was reading.. are you kidding me. What kind of businesses talk like that? Seriously? And who puts up with it?
Oh well. Again good luck guys -- with whatever you do.

RE: Banjo Creek- CLOSED

Remember folks lifetime memberships means the product lifetime - not yours.
Lucy
Well they sold me mine for MY lifetime and for my children's lifetime too after mine has ended.
Yankeecamper, I am willing to do this but when sort of the same type
thing happenned about our dues, not many would do this and the NC AG's office was no help at all.
But you must ask yourself what is likely to change first and how often -- the product or your life? Products are always changing/improving - they must to stay competitive and if they don't they will not out live you, let alone your kids. That's my point.
Lucy
Lucy and with all the respect(Lucy was my mom's name ) you deserve
unless you have a copy the contract you have no idea what it says or means,
Ed
Yep -- I definitely understand. I'm not talking letter of the law - I'm talking what makes sense. Doesn't matter what it says - lifetime memberships are not practical.
The big issue is BC's track record which has been horrendous based on what I read in this thread and others from the past. Right or wrong I came to the conclusion that Gary might have been the only one who realized there was a problem. The silence to some of past posts was deafeaning. I felt for him. He seemed to be trying to get some folks to unite for a long time.
So recover what you can - I am rooting for you, but my point about lifetime memberships remains the same. It is not anything more than a marketing concept and do not be fooled that it can or will deliver.
Good luck.

RE: Planning East Coast Trip, need advice!

Sounds like a great time. We are headed up to D.C. for the first time in May.
I'm assuming you have been to Asheville/eastern NC and traveled the Blue Ridge Parkway before - if so perhaps that is why you are going around or just passing thru NC? If not and you are open to a change I would come back down via I-81 VA and into NC and drive on the parkway at least some of the way.
SC -- You seem to be going right by Lake Hartwell in SC -- if you have time consider a stay @ Twin Lakes COE (Corp of Eng) in Anderson, SC - near Clemson, SC. Nice place.
We lived near Raleigh, NC for 6 years so we spent a lot of time in SC, VA and NC. You can read about some of the CGs we enjoyed in this area in the links below - includes info on Twin Lakes CG mentioned above. Just something to consider for future trips, unless your route changes. Click on pics to enlarge. Info also includes links to the CG websites and in some cases inks with pics of CG sites that we took or I found on the internet. For e.g. Lake Hartwell COE offers pics of every campsite and every CG - great for planning.

Have fun.

RE: Look at this motorhome refurb. UNBELIEVABLE!

While I dislike the overuse of pattern and all the "stuff" the workmanship is superb.
Her window treatments do not work because the valances are the wrong scale and the plaid just emphasizes that more. Hard to pull off traditional window treatments in a MH for this reason. BTW - If you are into home sewing and want to do your own treatments in a stick home -- this site sells patterns and gives instructions on how to adjust the scale for your window size. They design treatments for Southern Living Idea homes. Patemeadows. Lots of pictures on the site for ideas.
Shag rugs are coming back --- for those who like a little pizazz. I often see in area rugs in contemporary homes. She likely used that to cover the carpeting.
Love her plaid chairs though -- and the red sofa. Those 3 pieces look very nice.
I think the overall look would have worked better if she had used a plain drapery fabric w/out a valance and covered her dining chairs in a complimentary plain fabric also or on the chairs maybe a tiny plaid that looks like a solid from a distance. She could have added the additional patterns in throw pillows. As it is now there is no place for the eyes to rest.
Surprised she did not replaced the windshield curtain. That's probably next. :B
Obviously the dog poses on demand.
Either way she likes it and that is really all that matters. I admire her ambition and this was fun to look thru - thanks for sharing the link.

Fort Wilderness -- Directions -- Street to look for??

We are on our way to Fort Wilderness for the 1st time. Coming up from South Florida on the Turnpike. I know we'll see signs to get to Walt Disney World, but wonder if we will we see signs for the CG or if anyone knows a particular road we should look for?

RE: Another "KEY WEST" question

To get a good spot, get your reservations at least a year in advance. Especially if you want to stay in one of the State Parks.
Do not take I-95 all the way to U.S. 1. Hop on the turnpike - it will take you to U.S. 1.
We stayed @ Bluewater Key which is about 15 miles north of Key west and checked out Curry Hammock SP which is near Marathon, FL - about 50 miles from downtown KW.
We live about 30 miles North of Miami. It took us about 3 hours to get to Bluewater. Roads become 2 lanes on U.S. 1 and our speeds were sometimes slowed down to 45-55 thru some of the small towns.
You can see some info/pics on Bluewater & Curry Hammock in this link. It's a list of CGs we've stayed at or drove thru in Florida. Listed by city. Includes links to the CG websites. We've lived in Florida since 2007 and are still exploring, but we have also been to several so you might find some other places to consider during your trip.
Good luck.

RE: Key West

Yes -- I-95 to 595 to the turnpike to U.S. 1
Taking I-95 all the way to U.S. 1 is INSANE.

RE: Miami area RV Parks

We have visited here and it was very nice. There was one couple next to us that has camped there, at that very same spot, every winter for the past 25+ years.
Call and see if they can meet your needs.
Larry & Penny Thompson Park
This is a county park CG and very difficult to get into during the snowbird season. A lot of return visitors and they are given priority so I'd encourage you to have some alternatives becasue you'll probably have to use them.
Broward County (near Fort Lauderdale) has a few CGs you might want to consider. They are about 30-35 miles North / Northwest of Larry & Penny. E.g., CB Smith, Markham Park. I don't think either has WiFi though -- unsual for a county park to have that.
I have addl info & some pics on these and other FL Cgs in this link.

RE: Northern Alabama Campgrounds?

Wait a minute...if I'm the navigator, then we go the way I say, right??? :-)
That's right, and believe me, you do not want any part of Atlanta. The Montgomery/231 route is the absolute best. Happy camping........
Yep agree. Only additional warning I'll give you is I-65 thru Birmingham.. absolute worst we have ever been on. DH refuses to travel on it anymore. Shakes the S*** out of you. We have a need to go to Red Bay, AL sometimes from South Florida so now we go I-10 to Mobile, Al and then North -- catch U.S. 45 in MS all the way up. It adds about 100 miles but less time since you do get caught up in traffic thru Birmingham.
So if you don't need to go to Birmingham and are just looking for a way to get South -- consider coming down thru MS. U.S. 45 is 4 lane til a small stretch closer to the AL border. Depending on where else you are in TN it might be an option. Great overnight in Meridian, MS called Benchmark RV. I-10 across the FL panhandle is the easiest drive...great road.

RE: Reserve America - Have you had good or bad experiences?

Love Reserve America and Recreation.Gov. Use both all the time. Never talk to a soul -- do all my reservations online. Never had a problem once we arrive either. Just a fabulous, fabulous system. Wish other State Parks used it -- like Georgia.

RE: BanjoCreek message

As I informed Gary in a pm, I AM NOT JUSTTHERE!!! I however am a very concerned member and I hope all the problems are settled. We love BC and do not want anything to happen here to jeopardize our membership here. Too many good memories here and too many new camping friends. Every one needs to go to the source for info, hope it is the truth and quit with negative thoughts.
Good grief -- what's the big secret. Why don't you just share what your learned.

RE: Best High End Coach?

Hello everyone! Iam a new member from Kansas watching this post (and other, of course) with great interest.
I, also am in the market for a higher-line (as in CC signature, Newmar Essex, etc) coach.
Our budget is 250-350k and our requirements are 2006 or newer, must sleep 2 adults and four kids (10yrs to 15 years) and have plenty of power to go to the mountains, tow trailers, etc.
I am looking into a 2007 Beaver Patriot (full wall slide front to back on drivers side...a bit scary to me), 2007 Monaco signature, and perhaps a new and/or newer tiffin zephyr (wife likes the interior).
Additional suggestions to the great advice already posted will be appreciated.
Thanks!!
Well you may get some responses here as folks stop in to see this thread and happen to read this question, but this is another person's thread and after a few more posts, your question is going to get buried. Probably best to create your own post with a title that will entice readers to readers to respond. Better for you and the OP (orig poster).
