RE: Dogs welcome in Yellowstone??

It's really not a dog friendly place. The NPS owns it and they just let you visit, if you follow their rules. I agree with all the dangers listed for your pup and others. Your pup isn't really going to have a great time there other than being with you.

RE: Fiberglass dented

Random Ideas,,, inspect back side from inside. If the dent is pulled out easily, repair inside inspection hole and fill area behind dent with expanding foam to hold out dent. Might sound nuts but if it works......... good luck.

RE: Wind River by Outdoors RV TT

Went and looked at Blackstone, Wind River and Creekside today. These are the best built and the nicest TT's I have seen in a long time. Quality of fit and finish looks like the units will last many years. Plenty of storage, frame and suspension is tops. A very nice front cap, just needs a rear cap. Propane cover is a little weak. Their top line Blackstone is tops but I like the Wind River. The front kitchen and rear dinette units work the best for me but the front kitchen starts with almost 1000 tongue weight and would only get heavier when loaded. The dealer said that my Sunnybrook will sell quick. Sooooooo, I can spent the bucks or keep my Sunnybrook and have about 30K for travel and repairs to spend. I am in no hurry to make the jump.

RE: Dexter Axle upgrade 3500 to 5200

It's been a great TT and has many years left but before I get into mods I am going to look at some new units. Had this one for 10 years now and the next one will be my last, unless I keep this one.

RE: Dexter Axle upgrade 3500 to 5200

I made a few calls today. I can get 5200 pound axles with brakes and springs. They will bolt right up and my 6x 5.5 rims will also bolt up to them. E-Z flex system also stays. Cost would be about $900. To R&R my never lube bearings when due will be about $400. I will go with the standard bearings next time.
With my TT at 6400 bare total, add water and gear it will be close to 7500. 700 on the hitch leaves a good 6700 or more on two 3500 axles. Add a little shock load or other load adding things and we easy go over the limit. 5200 axles will put me at about 65% loaded limit. Plus bigger brakes. Outdoor RV uses 5200 on all their TT's. Sunnybrook!!! what were you thinking. It didn't save you enough money to keep from being eaten by Winny.

RE: Dexter Axle upgrade 3500 to 5200

Mine are leaf springs with the Dexter EZ ride rubber thing on the rocker. I just wonder how the 5200 axles will bolt up to my 3500 springs or will I need new springs and are the 5200 springs the same size. The TT towes so smooth and straight now, hate to risk messing things up. The next question would be easy lube or never lube bearings.

Dexter Axle upgrade 3500 to 5200

I have Dexter neverlube 3500 pound axles on my 6400 pound TT, D rated tires and 6 lug rims. I have had one bearing failure and now it is almost time to replace the cartridge bearings again. The bearings are about $80 each + press old out and new in. If I have it done that is about $400-$500. The bearings on the 3500 pound axles are kind a small. I am thinking of going to 5200 pound axles and wondering if anyone has done it. I know I would have to replace just about everything but it would be nice to just do the axles and bearings. I am a do it yourself guy and installed the Dexter E-Z flex myself. Any advice other than sell the TT and get a new one?

RE: Wind River by Outdoors RV TT

Bummer,,, there doesn't look like there is a pantry in the Windriver 250RLSW. Just where do you put the food? I don't think there is an excuse for not having a pantry in a TT of that size and price.

RE: What's the market like for used TT's right now?

It's not about what you, the owner thinks it's worth. It's only worth what someone else will pay for it. If it is in great shape and everything works, it will sell quicker at the right price. If you want to sell it, price it to sell.

RE: Wind River by Outdoors RV TT

I have been looking at these as a possible replacement for my Sunnybrook. Wind River and Blackstone lines are alu frame const, the others are wood. I really like the 250RLSW in the Wind river line also. I have spoken to the factory and they seem to be nice people along with the local dealer here in So Cal. Frames are built by Northwoods factory that is just down the road. Axles are 5200 pound units but they stay with 15 inch wheels, load D. Roof Truss is light weight steel. They look to be a upscale mid size TT, right up my alley. I will be checking out the construction and fit and finish soon.

RE: Best constructed travel trailer

If that is what you want to do, buy one of them. I don't know of any TT made here that would stand up to that on a regular basis. That is not a large TT. It's more of a camping trailer than a travel trailer. I think the market for them here in the US would be a little small. Awesome off road ability.

RE: Best constructed travel trailer

I have taken my Sunnybrook off road in the so cal deserts to the point of needing 4x4 locked in to continue farther. Not going over big rocks, mud bogs and roots, just sand washes. No issues in any way. I have seen the AF Silver fox units and I would say they are built stronger and better for off road than my SB is. I think the ones built by Outdoors RV are as good but have not actually seen one yet. In how rough of an area do you think you can really pull a 30 ft 8000 pound TT without damage to the TT or TV? I would really like to see some picks.

RE: Best constructed travel trailer

Kind of hard to sit outside when it's raining cats and dogs or the wind is blowing 50+mph, or the hi for the day is barely 30 deg. I have seen all this and more while boon docking it in the desert winter. A slide out helps the cabin fever for a while.

RE: Protecting the screen door from dogs

My Bernese Mtn Dog is 110 pounds and still growing. There is nothing I could do to protect the screen door so I trained him not to touch it even if the outside door is open. If some one approaches he will bark once or twice, that's it.

RE: Rear Kitchens

Well, this is great, I'll be able to add the RK units to my list of TT's to consider when it's time to change. I guess things have changed over the years, I still remember being tossed in the air riding in the rear. But, I have never owned a RK so my knowledge was limited to my ride of several years ago. Good to hear the RK units have no ride issues, I stand corrected.

RE: Anyone towing a 30U Arctic Fox?

I like the A F's but will stay away because of their size and weight. They ride high and was told by factory rep at a show it's for off road travel with them. IMO they should have a 3/4 ton in front of them and someday I might want to go to a 1/2 ton. They are a 4 season TT and thats 2 more than I need.
