My Take On FL

I haven't posted much in the past year but thought I would give my impressions on staying in FL. Three years ago I stayed in the RGV, two winters ago I did AZ. Last winter I did FL. I wanted to hit all the warm weather states to see what I liked about them. TX was inexpensive but I didn't like the urban feel of the RGV. Just too busy and crowded. I loved AZ for the wide open spaces and it could be fairly inexpensive if you looked around. I went to FL last winter thinking I really wouldn't like it from everything I've read here. The people are not friendly, prices are expensive, it was crowded, etc. My trip was stopping at Savanna, then St. Augustine, Cape Canaveral, the Keys then the Fort Myers area. In all the areas I stayed in FL I never once found the people not friendly. Some places were busier than others but I never felt as packed in as the RGV. I stayed two months in a park (nothing real fancy) in North Fort Myers that was $300 per month including electric. In the end I sold my RV and bought a place in a 55+ park. I love it here. My only complaint is that the restaurants give better deals in the winter than they do in the summer. It is common to see two-or-one deals in the winter, the best you can do is 50% off the 2nd in the summer. Those that complain about their bad treatment in FL maybe needs to find a better place to stay. The Forty Myers area residents know how to treat their winter guests!

RE: where to go not needing to run furnace?

North Fort Myers FL. $300 a month including electric. Will very seldom need propane, just use an electric heater for those couple of chilly nights.
