RE: Dodges Marketing Director should be FIRED

Hey Rick and Capt - looks like you guys have a new contestant for the "Anti-Dodge/Chrysler" cheerleader in rlh6805 - his last few posts have a common theme....:W:B I will never give up my crown.;) Though, I never have made a desparaging remark about Chrysler or Dodge.:h Back on topic, I've never bought a vehicle because of some TV ad. Most of them are annoying and appeal to the lowest denominator. I do miss the Howie Long commercials making fun of the Ford tailgate with the step. That was free advertisement for Ford.

RE: Dodges Marketing Director should be FIRED

This was a very good truck commercial. I still remember it airing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Msd5ltrMd3Y&NR=1 This One's For You, ib516 It's completely off topic, but so is this entire thread.

RE: Dodges Marketing Director should be FIRED

I think the "Made in Mexico" will become more common in the future for all manufacturers with the low cost of labor there. JMHO. I don't have much of a problem with that. The more incentive they have to stay on that side of the border the better off we are.

RE: Dodges Marketing Director should be FIRED

Hope you're not shopping for a new Ford Superduty then....the diesel engines are made in Mexico.... I don't think the 1500 Ram is made in Mexico, I know some of the 3/4 and 1 tons are, but I think the 1500 is USA assembled... Only the Powerstroke engine is made in Mexico. The trucks are all assembled in the US. The entire Ram line, excepting the 1500, is made in Mexico. The Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 are built in Chrysler's Saltillo Assembly Plant in Coahuila, Mexico, and the Dodge Ram 1500 is built in the St. Louis Assembly plant in St. Louis, Missouri, and at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant in Warren, Michigan.

RE: Well this just sucks!

OP clearly stated that the vehicle completely melted down. Don't think there is much hope for this truck, I'm sure there is a puddle of molten steel, glass and rubber on the outskirts of Ardmore, OK. I can't count how many times I've had a vehicle completely melt down. It does happen quite frequently, that's why I carry several fire extinguishers in my Ford. I thought the Duramax had the market for melting down with those aluminum heads. Nice to see that us Ford owners can join in the fun.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

It depends if your a gambling man really. I'd stand clear of them, but that's just 20yrs. in the industry talking. Also I know pretty much all of the techs around here that work at the big3 dealers, so I hear all the stories coming from out of the shops to make my conclusions from. Why don't you go ask "ALL" the techs if there is any benefit to a DPF? I'm speaking of longevity and reliability. If you look at tthe latest generations of diesels, most of the problems come from the emission equipment. I'm going to do my best to keep this truck reliable so the DPF is not part of the plan. I'll have to admit, I don't know "ALL" the techs so I'm probably wrong.

RE: Amost - but not quite - a double post. Henry Ford

Henry Ford purchased the house next to the house he and his family lived in. He then moved his mistress into this house. The man was a PIG. Sounds like he knew how to take care of "business". I have no problem with that situation, though my wife would.:C

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

If Ford's 6.4 was that bad wouldnt there be some recalls going on and maybe lawsuits? Not a 6.4, but a 6.7 lawsuit

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

They ARE blowning up whether you like it or not. Some people don't like to hear the truth. You seem to be one of them. Sorry about the true postings about the 6.4. :R Just An Update: I ran into some trouble today while driving to the Dodge dealership. I walked outside to find my EGR cooler laying on the ground in a puddle of coolant. Once I popped the hood I noticed a 10" crack in my block and what seemed to be broken head bolts. I tried to start it up, but it made a ton of noise and the nieghbors started complaining (this engine stuff baffles me).:? After the long tow to the dealer (Cummins powered tow truck:B) I had some time to speak with a tech. He informed me that he had personally replaced 12 complete 6.4 Powerstroke engines that morning. Additionally, I was told that my warranty was probably going to be denied due to aftermarket floor mats. Ford is now looking for any reason to deny a warranty as global steel prices have skyrocketed due to the steel needed to produce all these replacement Powerstrokes. Luckily my future Cummins won't need replacement for 2 million, or more, miles. I'm hoping to have the truck ready for trade in a couple weeks. Can you recommend some floor mats for my new Cummins?

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

Really turtle giver us a break, i dont beat down the cummins, I never realized that stating facts about any engine was "beating it down?" Sorry you feel this way. I do agree that ford has more than others, but they also sell a lot more trucks. Thank you for being honest. If you're anything it's predictable. WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A CUMMINS? Aaaaaaaaaaaaaa you did. Try to follow along. You said: "I can find problems on the internet with any brand." Last time I checked. Cummins "is" a brand that goes in the Dodge truck. I just took you up on your challenge finding problems with the Cummins. Find me a tech on a Cummins forum that even comes close to saying: "I've personally done 8 complete engines, four short blocks, countless injectors, many EGR coolers, high pressure fuel pumps, crank seals, EGT sensors, exhaust leaks, coolant leaks, and wiring repairs in a little over a year." I'm not going to go tit-for-tat with you debating the quality of one engine over another. When I see statements like this it's from people that know next to nothing about the engines being debated about. It's a subjective discussion at best and it appears you're not up to the mental gymnastics. It's not subjective at all. Just talk to a few tech's that work on these things. Look at how much money warrantee work is costing the manufacture. It will tell the whole story. To get back on topic, my 6.4 has proven to be reliable as seems to be the consensus of other OWNERS on this site. Goody for you. My 5.7 diesel has also been perfect. Guess that makes it a great engine. :R Please accept my thanks! You have shown me the error of my ways. I'm currently negotiating on the purchase of a new Dodge CTD. Once I return from the dealer I will promptly log in and start cr@pping on every Powerstroke topic I can find. Would you be so kind to provide reference of the tech you're so fond of? I need all the support for my future trashing of Ford and the Powerstroke platform.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

And since you say you can find problems with any brand on the internet, I challange you to go on a Cummins forum and find where many many people talk about blown up engines, white smoke when it gets damp out, tons of failed radiators because of over pressurization or lots of turbo issues. I'm sure you can find one or two, but not like the posts in the ford forums. Go on, give it a try. I will be waiting for your post and links. If you're anything it's predictable. WHO SAID ANYTHING ABOUT A CUMMINS? Go start your own topic, if you need help I've got plenty of suggestions. I'm not going to go tit-for-tat with you debating the quality of one engine over another. It's a subjective discussion at best and it appears you're not up to the mental gymnastics. To get back on topic, my 6.4 has proven to be reliable as seems to be the consensus of other OWNERS on this site.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

IMHO these engines don't get a "great" rating from me. But that is just MHO. Do you have a 6.4 Powerstroke? If not, who cares what your rating is and why are you adding to this topic? I can find problems on the internet with any brand.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

Yep I know but fordsuprduty(sp?) was raving about how good the 03-04 PSDs were in hbis response so I think my response is appropriate. Dick Got it, that engine will be a topic everytime a Ford truck is mentioned. I look forward to the 2018 Powerstroke being compared to the '03-'07 Powerstroke, it will never end.

RE: Ford's 6.4L diesel

My 04 PSD was totally stock and had two head gasket replacements, 3 EGR coolers and one oil cooler. It usually went through a gallon of coolant everytime I pulled my trailer in the mountains. I traded it in this summer for a new F250 but went with a V10. The title of the thread is "Ford's 6.4L diesel" NOT 6.0. There are plenty of topics dealing with the 6.0. In my camping trips to state parks here in Texas I am seeing fewer Ford diesels compared to what I used to see. I'm also seeing fewer NEW Ford diesels, the older models are still out there in great numbers. I would say this has to do with the economy more than anything else. I hope Ford got their diesel right this time but I think it will be a while before many potential buyers will have confidence in their newest engine. Dick Probably true, but we'll never know for sure as the engine is on it's way out.

RE: DPF cleaning and towing issues

I just purchased 2010 F-350PSD CC Lb dooley 2x with 4.10 axle. Have any of you had issues towing during the "cleaning exhaust filter" process? None at all, when I HAD a DPF. The only thing I noticed was the increase in exhaust noise.

RE: Powerstroke

More sarcasm from up2nogood I see. Like I said before, I trust a guy I can talk to in person much more than some yahoo on the internet. Believe me or not I don't care. Just tryin' to help some folks by passing on what I believe to be pertinent information. It's up to them to decide if it has any validity. So take a hike up2nogood. Your sarcasm has been noted, along with your other feeble attempts to discredit what I know is a more reliable and knowledgeable source than you. Buddies? I only mentioned one buddy. And with that, I will leave this thread. Ford diesel owners, I have given you my opinion on the matter. Use what you wish, it doesn't matter to me! :W Thanks, I don't have time to research oils so anything to split up the competition helps.

RE: "Half Ton Towable"-They Are Serious?

So there's an idiot dealer in Nevada that advertises you can tow a 34ft 5er with 1/2 ton and that's news? Who said it was news, other than you? I'm simply shocked that according to Ford someone (could) tow that and be within limits. My wife had a 5.4 in an Expedition and it struggled with its own wieght. I may have overlooked something, but it seems Ford is the only mfg. that would allow this type of weight. Not to imply that another mfg. is not as capable.

"Half Ton Towable"-They Are Serious?

This would be a load for a one ton. Maybe I'm missing something obvious? ETA-I guess you could, provided it's not loaded according to the F150 specs.:E
