RE: Serious Dodge/CTD question--EPA related

I believe I read somewhere next emissions change by EPA is 2012. I do not know if any of the 2010 compliant diesel trucks will meet the 2012 standards.

RE: Dodge/Chrysler enthusiasts, here's a link to the 5 year plan

Hmmm...I think I'm going to be seriously tempted to buy a new 2010 Ram, but if it is up for a total redesign in 2012, what kind of improvements are they going to make? Myabe I should wait, I hear the 2010 is real nice truck, so if they improve on it, that means? Why not wait for the 2016 model? I brought up subject of buying new truck in 2015 couple years ago, DW said yeah right! So 2016 might be what I end up with.

Colonial white, or just white?

I need to replace some of the vinyl insert pieces on my trailer. The ones that go in the tracks to cover all the screw heads. Doing research and it seems that it comes in different colors. Mine is white, but the vinyl stuff comes in colonial white, polar white, or just plain white, Grr. Which one to buy to match??

RE: Traveling with the electric bunks down

There is no locking mechanism at the top, it is just a cut off switch. When beds hit that switch power is cut to the motor. I can't see any difference in all the way up or any place in between. The only thing might be in the double bunk models with the top bunk resting on the support tabs instead of being supported by the bottom bunk. There isn't much to those support tabs, don't know if bed could bounce off those tabs while driving or not.

RE: New Toy - GPS

You can download maps from HERE then transfer it to your gps for free. Otherwise you need TOPO which runs about $100. Great site, appears to support only Garmin. Does anyone know of a site for Magellen? That would be great!

RE: 2010 Dodge Trucks ship out + sound good-future

You can bet I will be taking a trip to the dealer to take a look see. Hopefully I don't catch a case of sweetnewtruckitis while i'm there. I'd love to help the Ram brand out and purchase one, but it just doesn't make finacial sense at this time. Of course I could make it make sense.

RE: How long does it take to start your Onan?

I PRIME for 10-15 seconds then try to start 10-15 seconds. Repeat cycle. Usually takes two cycles to start, but the other day after not being ran for a month it took 3 cycles.

RE: More LED lights (long post with lots of pictures)

A member in TH forum did similar study and here are his results. Another manufacturer, about same price.

RE: Dodge diesel tranny behaves weirdly. Comments???

I'll agree, mine does same thing. It is torque converter engaging/disengaging after the downshift. I wouldn't say that mine is real jerky though.

RE: 2009 Dodge 2500

I had an 03 Hemi I pulled 7-8K with. It did fine. There are some things I miss about the Hemi! Can't compare it to any other gasser as that is the only one I've ever towed with. I'm thinking you will like it though.

RE: MC dealer is selling 50cc ATVs and mini-bikes again (here)

The dealers(Yamaha) here have been selling for awhile to. I have noticed that Suzuki and Kawasaki still have the youth models listed as unavailable because of CPSC on their websites. On edit: The local polaris dealer is selling youth models also.

RE: Attitude Owners

Idahoan, I've got a 2006 26fsak which has been a great trailer for us. I can get 6 dirt bikes in it with no trouble and could probably get more. Fully loaded though it is heavy! I see you are in Layton. I live down in Sandy. If you'd like to come down here and check out the trailer you're welcome to. Bring your toys and we can load them up and see how they fit. Fred Thanks for the offer! We are still considering our options. I am wanting to get the wife something to ride, wich would result in us needing bigger trailer. We haven't decided what we are going to get her so until that happens won't know exactlly how much more space we need, and won't be able to do a test load. I will keep you in mind if we decide to go the Attitude route. But righ now it looks like we might run into weight issues. And yes familyduners we really want front bed. Have 4 kids plus me and wife and we don't want to have to make the couch or table into beds every night. But if it comes down to it we could make it work.

RE: Here is how we boondock. How do you boondock?

I'm right in the same class as profdant139 and Rubiranch. No solar. We have 2 group 27 12V batteries and on-board gen. I can carry 100 gal of water though. The longest we have camped in this trailer is 4 days, we don't shower just sponge baths, so bet we could go at least 2 weeks! We boondock 98% of the time, as we feel that is what camping is! Instead of spending all that money on the solar stuff, I'll put diesel in my tank and go camping a couple more times!

RE: Tv's and camping

Our trailer has 2 TV's and I can count on one hand the number of times we have used them. Just because they are there doesn't mean they have to "dragg down the camping experience". We would much rather enjoy the outdoors or play a game than watch TV. That is what camping is all about, spending quality time with family in the great outdoors!

RE: MPH - GPS vs Speedometer

Compared to 2 different GPS units my speedo is 1-2 MPH slow. Also my odometer is roughly 5 miles short for every 200 miles on GPS units.

RE: New Fuzion 290 is finally in the driveway!

I like the looks of the exterior! Did that rounded front help with gas milage any? I'm going to go check them out in next couple weeks as long as I can find one close.

RE: Those not so accurate weight stickers

The sticker in the cabinet was RVIA; most major RV manufacturers were members, and put that weight sticker on, in addition to the DOT/NHTSA mandated weight rating and tire pressures sticker (on outside left front of trailers, inside driver's door of motorized vehicles). NHTSA decided the RVIA sticker was misunderstood by too many buyers, so devised their own carrying capacity rating. That sticker is on new RVs, the RVIA sticker is not. Thanks for the info! Maybe I need to head back to the dealer and take a look at the sticker on outside of trailer. Maybe it has all the information I'm looking for. When salseman said all they are required to have is the GVWR sticker, I just assumed it was like the old ones and listed only GVWR and tire info. Maybe it has changed and lists more info. I don't see how people could misunderstand it, it listed UVW, then figured in water and propane weights and then listed a CCC, which would be the weight of all the "stuff" you could put in trailer. Simple, IMHO! There they go thinking on their own again!:R

RE: Those not so accurate weight stickers

For Eclipse at least, it is new, my 09 has the sticker in cabinet that gives GVWR, UVW then lists water and propane weight, then the calculated CCC. Very useful information. But the 2 model year 10 trailers I looked at did not have sticker, and salseman said they are not required.

Those not so accurate weight stickers

You know, the ones the manufacturers put inside a cabinet somewhere in the trailer. Well, I was looking at a new Eclipse Attitude Toy Hauler and could not find sticker anywhere, asked the salesman and he said they are no longer req'd to put sticker in trailer, they are only req'd to have the GVWR on the outside front corner. Has anyone else noticed this and are other manufacturers not using them any longer? I know most were not very accurate, but at least you got a ballpark of what trailer weighed so you knew approx how much "room" you had to pack things in. Even more important when putting 1500# or so worth of ATV's/motorcycles in a trailer.
