RE: Fuel economy on Thor Super C

Wow, I didn't realize how small the DEF consumption was, I guess I always assumed it was more. Does this DEF volume only apply to the Ford 6.7L that Thor is using on their 2 New F-550 Super C Motorhomes or just in general for a modern diesel of similar displacement? Is DEF consumption directly related to diesel fuel used, or are there any other variables to change DEF usage? Thanks in Advance.

RE: New Super C Motorhomes from Thor Motorcoach

Well I was able to walk in to one of the Chateau Super C Motorhomes, it's the sister to the Four Winds Super C. I liked Ford's interior cab, it's a lot more refined than what I've seen in most others. http://chateau-super-c.com/media/images/gallery/RV-on-Ford-F-550-Super-Duty-Diesel-Motorhome-Chassis.jpg width=400 The motorhome's bed above the cab was very big, largest I've seen. Two adult could sleep up there very comfortably. I wish I could replace my fridge with the one in this coach but I measured and it just can't be done. :-(

RE: First time owner - Thor Hurricane 30Q - Advice please!

Congratulations on the new motorhome. My uncle had a 30Q, how do you like the barrel chair, sofa, booth layout up front? Appears like a good class A floor plan, I didn't see any of the new RVs with seating like this anymore, New Hurricane Class A Motorhomes | Floor Plans. Looks kind of like a non-slideout, larger version of their 29x motorhomes: http://hurricane-rv.com/media/floorplans/Small-Class-A-Motorhomes-29-Foot-29x-RV.png width=490 Happy RVing...

RE: Comparison Thor verse Coachman

I've been a motorhome junkie for a few years now but can't say I spent enough time to really give any sort of Coachmen Mirada review. I've seen several ACE's and have always thought they had some of the the best small class a floor plans. I would recommend taking the time to find the best floor plan for you... But the 30.1 ACE is an excellent floor plan and the new 27.1 is really roomy and is a great option for a small class a motorhome. ACE 27.1 Small Class A Motorhomes http://acemotorhome.com/media/floorplans/Small-Class-A-Motorhomes-Short-Class-A-27-1.png width=650 My wife and I also liked the look of the ACE motorhomes, the HD-MAX exteriors ended up looking great in person. I guess I would point that out that the Coachmen Mirada doesn't even use a gel-coat on the fiberglass where as the ACE does on their HD-MAX. I truly amazes me that any company could make a new motorhome without a protective gel-coat. Investing 100K in coach with a colorful and shiny exterior I wouldn't want my motorhome looking dim and dingy in a few years. I'm just saying the cost to the manufacturer can't be that much more to to it right. http://acemotorhome.com/media/images/decor/2013-ACE-RV-HD-MAX-Cascade.jpg width=650 Best of luck & happy trails...

New Super C Motorhomes from Thor Motorcoach

Being a fan of diesel engines and their longevity I'm happy to see more Diesel Class C Motorhomes at this years Tampa RV Show. Not that I'm ready for a new motorhome yet but the new Super C Motorhomes by Thor looked really good, especially for such a low price? I've found them on RV Trader for around 110K. They built both their new "Super C Motorhomes" on a Ford F550 Duper Duty Chassis, seems like one of the best choices for a diesel Class C RV. Does anyone have any long term opinions of the Ford F-550 Chassis especially the new 2014's? Here are few snap shots of the Four Winds 33SW Super C Motorhome from the Tampa RV Show: http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/k615/ImagesofImages/Class%20Super%20C%20Motorhomes%20at%20Tampa%20RV%20Show/Super-C-Motorhome-01_zps45ed375d.jpg width=475 http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/k615/ImagesofImages/Class%20Super%20C%20Motorhomes%20at%20Tampa%20RV%20Show/Super-C-Motorhome-02_zpscc6a8770.jpg width=475 http://i1118.photobucket.com/albums/k615/ImagesofImages/Class%20Super%20C%20Motorhomes%20at%20Tampa%20RV%20Show/Super-C-Motorhome-03_zps6dcd6aeb.jpg width=475 Here the Manufacturers Website: Four Winds Super C Motorhomes

Clever Tip To Remind You To Lower Your TV Antenna

I thought I'd pass this along... after parking your coach take your ignition keys and hang them from your TV Antenna crank, therefore you will remember to crank down that TV Antenna before causing a costly accident. :) Good Luck! Moved to General RVing Issues forum from DIY.

RE: Itasca or Thor class A

My 2 cents after owning an ACE... I've never owned a Winnie myself so I can comment, but I know that the ACE was the smartest choice for my family. Heading through the mountains... http://s17.postimage.org/snjn4bu5r/Our_New_ACE_Motorhome_2012.jpgwidth=380 Thor has always went above and beyond for us. The customer service has always been top notch. They recently added 24 hour, 7 day a week tech support. I love that it's not farmed out, and it's all in house. Just the other day I used it late on a weekend, maded a phone call, talked with a Thor Motorhome Tech who knew my coach... You may also want to talk to the Thor Motor Coach ACE motorhome owner's club, I think they have a community on Yahoo. I recently sold our ACE and opted for the DP Palazzo. We only had our 29.1 Ace for almost a year with about 22K miles, The Ford chassis ran like a champ, with no real issues. I ended up selling my ACE myself fairly quickly for $3200 less than what I paid. The ACE was our favorite coach we owned, it had a lot going for it, storage (4 feet smaller than our Daybreak but far more storage space), easy to drive (the only coach my wife would drive), and the interior space was very wisely used. When I purchased our ACE there was only a single floorplan, I think we would have purchased the 29.2 if it was available at the time. I like the larger slide and longer kitchen myself. http://www.acemotorhome.com/media/floorplans/2013-Class-A-Class-C-Motorhomes-29.2.png width=420 So far we like the Palazzo because it's small enough to go anywhere we want and also very easy to drive. Note that so far we have only been able to make short weekend trips but next week is our 3K trip to California with guest, I'm sure I'll find out everything I like and don't like by then. Send me a message if you have any questions on the ACE or Palazzo, I think I know more about my coaches than all the salesmen that I've talked to, my wife says I'm obsessed :-| I say it's a hobby. Well best of Luck.

RE: Class Class C vs Class B+ Motorhomes, Officially?

Ok, this all makes since... It makes no since :-) We all agree B Plus Motorhomes is a pure marketing term to identify a few differences between a Class C and an cut-a-way chassis based class C motorhome. And GoRVing only recognizes 3 classes or types of motorhomes; Type A Motorhomes, Type B Motorhomes, & Type C Motorhomes. So the marketers have started using the term B Plus simply to identify a few items and common features topically packaged together on a Class C and branded them with the "Plus". Since these motorhomes topically have a different demographic I believe their is good reason for there segregation. If fact I asked this question because my uncle who has no children, and would only be traveling with his wife. After asking a few question it was clear they are looking for a something between the B Vans and the family sized Class C. So if I send him out shopping I'll arm him with the knowledge that he should be asking for a "B+ Motorhome" or a Class C without the over hanging bunk, I've suggested the B Plus Siesta Motorhomes. This brings me to another side question, is the marketing term B Plus regional? My uncle lives in Northern Quebec, will his local dealer know the term? Thanks Sooboy, I love the to the point definitions of the true classes here: C = RV where second stage manufacturer builds on a cutaway chassis B = Camper Van (utilizing the entire van body) A = RV where second stage manufacturer builds the entire body, including drivers compartment on a bare chassis. Just to put this to bed, yes "B Plus" is a marketing term but it does define a motorhome with a few common attributes but because it's a marketing term they are not strictly limited to: no overhead bunk (100%) Built on a cut-a-way chassis (100%) rounded sidewalls (Common) smaller sizes/more compact (Common) more optional items come standard (Common) topically cost a bit more the their "Class C" counter part (Common) Common Class B Plus Motorhome http://chateau-citation.com/media/images/overview/2012-Class-C-RV-Citation-Motorhome.jpg width=300 Common Class C Motorhome http://fourwinds-classc.com/media/images/overview/Class-C-RV-2012-Fourwinds-Motorhome.jpg width=300 This is pretty crazy but I was shopping for a refrigerator and see the same things going on; French Doors, Side-by-Side, Ect...

RE: Palazzo Bunkhouse Diesel Motorhomes Drop Down Bunk Photos

FYI. Yes, the overhead bunk bed is definitively electric. We were traveling through Ankron and stopped at a Sirpilla, a local dealership. They didn't have the new bunkhouse floor plan only the 34 foot full wall slide out, but at least and the salesmen called the rep for me to confirm.

RE: Class Class C vs Class B+ Motorhomes, Officially?

I believe logically is would be a B- (B Minus), a Class C Minus the overhead cab. But I guess the plus is for fuel economy... Thanks.

Class Class C vs Class B+ Motorhomes, Officially?

OK, I was debating this over the 4th, so I started reading about the definition of a Class C Motorhome (Definition of What is a Class C Motorhome) and it looks like a B+ Motorhome is really just a Class C without the overhead cab, making it more aerodynamic? Am I correct, or am I missing something here? Is B+ a consumer term or is it officially a class of motorhome set by whoever officially sets these standards? Thanks.

RV & Tent Camping Heating Options

We just got back from a trip into Canada, we rented a motorhome and the kids and one of the couples we went with stayed in their tents. Two of the night got really cold, we survived because we flipped on the motorhomes furnace but they other got a little frosty :-) This may sound stupid but is there any options for connecting into a motorhome's existing furnace to provide supplemental heat to our fellow tenters? I would think a low watt electric blanket would likely be the easiest but...?

RE: 2012 Thor ACE - New Floor Plan!

Karen or any of you that have actually been in the 29.2 noticed the availability of the outlets? Dog's Dad, I just rented a 29.1 and there are four AC plug (two outlets), one on each nightstand. You can assume that because the 29.1 & 29.2 look to have the same rear end that they both have outlets in these positions. 29.1 >http://www.acemotorhome.com/media/floorplans/2013-Small-Class-A-Motorhomes-29.1.png width=300 29.2 >http://www.acemotorhome.com/media/floorplans/2013-Class-A-Class-C-Motorhomes-29.2.png width=300 http://acemotorhome.com/floorplans.php?small-class-a-rv-floor-plans-2013 I truly enjoyed the ACE, it really is the perfect sized motorhome. When the floor plan and features are right 30 feet is all we need. But I'm somewhere between one of the three 34' Palazzo small diesel motorhomes with a drop down bunk or a 30' 29.2 ACE??? Having a diesel would be nice and it's not that much more. I thinking we'll wait until next year so I'm in no rush.

RE: Palazzo Bunkhouse Diesel Motorhomes Drop Down Bunk Photos

All the Thor Palazzo Motorhomes offer an optional drop down bunk above the cockpit, the new 33.3 is their Bunkhouse floor plan and has the stacked bunk beds in addition to the optional overhead drop down bunk bed. Plus there is the dream dinnete bed and fold out bed in the sofa too. http://blog.thormotorcoach.com/media//Bunkhouse-Diesel-Motorhomes-New-4-2013.jpg width=700 http://palazzorv.com/floorplans.php?model=33.3?New-Bunkhouse-RV-with-Bunk-Beds holstein13, Your probably right, there was a Hurricane in Hershey with an electric drop bunk too. I would imagine since the ACE and there other models have it then the Palazzo diesel lines would have it too. On the video for the ACE, it looked electric. I know it's a different model, but seeing how it's the same manufacturer, I would imagine it is the same. Thank You.

Palazzo Bunkhouse Diesel Motorhomes Drop Down Bunk Photos

First, does anyone know if the drop down bunk bed in the Palazzo bunkhouse diesel motorhomes is electric or is it a manual pull down bunk bed? Second, and if anyone has ran across a photo please send it my way. Thanks

RE: Upgrading from Class C to Thor Palazzo

I had a close call a few months ago driving through a city, pulled off the main road for a bit to eat. When we left due to one way streets it was difficult getting back on the main road. So with the flow of traffic I went around the block util almost going under a low underpass 4" lower than my motorhome. I quickly recognized the danger stopping the coach in the middle of 4 one way lanes of traffic with a solid row of parked cars and buildings lining any possible quick escape. And then my guardian angle blessed me, in the middle of a busy city in mid-day a road crew was just behind me stopping traffic while they positioned in a crane for maintenance. Still needing to back up 100 yards and back through a busy traffic light with cars ready to push through, I was able to backup through the intersection and pull forward making my turn all before the light turned green. This all happened in a matter of 40 seconds... Thank the Lord! I believe the Palazzo motorhomes have a height just under 12' (Manufacturer's 2013 Palazzo Specs), that shouldn't be to bad. But I'm with you, I would love to have Google's Navigation only show "confirmed" bridge sizes. Than after entering you motorhomes height, allow Google to make suggested routes & also speak warnings just before going under all bridges and underpasses.
