RE: Filling fresh water tank with pump ??

I have a 42 gallon RV tank that I put in the bed of the truck and a spare RV pump with hose connections so I can just pump into my regular fill or if for some reason my pump fails in the RV I can just connect to the city inlet and continue on my merry way....

RE: 2013 Grand Cherokee V8

The Lance is a great option for the GC my buddy has an 2010 with the HEMI he is towing a Jayco hybrid without any issues at all and really loves it. Other than some initial issues with my LAnce now that I am getting it all worked out I am very happy with spending some extra $$$ for a roomy feeling TT at a nice lite package. I have the 1575 so I could tow with my 2011 Chrysler T&C but really liked the 2185 as well.

RE: Koala by Skyline

My Aljo was made by Skyline and I have nothing good to say about that trailer in the 10 years I owned it I had nothing but issues with it, and had to fight with Skyline to fix it. The first month I had it the main cross support on the frame fell off on the freeway because they had just tack welded the frame sides instead of the intended full seem, Skyline said it was because I was NOT pulling it with a dually... Funny the guy that finally came and got it was driving YOU GOT IT a SRW truck like mine. Needless to say it was not a happy day. Now I did know a lot of people with the Nomad brand who were very happy over the years...

RE: D.C. wire job

as stated above you can run many things on one circuit so long as your total draw is within the wire and fuse ratings. If you are doing this from scratch absolutely go with LED, I redid all of the lighting on my Lance and went from 24 amps in lighting down to 2 and WAY more light. Pump, Slides, Refrigerator, Heater, etc should all be separate circuits. While your at it add accessory outlets throughout on one or two circuits so you can run laptops, phone chargers etc and make sure you use good quality ones not the cheap ones you get at Walmart.

RE: RV Bathrooms

I love the way Lance dealt with the TP holder in my 1575 it is actually a recessed compartment into the toilet riser with a nice cover door so you don't see the roll. Mine had the towel bar behind the toilet which I don't like because its hard to keep the darn Toilet Lid in the upright position when there are towels on the rack,

RE: Any Opinion On Lance Travel Trailers?

I have an early build 2012 Lance 1575 and I have had a lot of smaller build quality issues with mine, HOWEVER that being said the factory does want to make things right and most of the issues I fixed myself relatively easily. I really like the layout and overall better upscale feeling of the Lance Trailers and the 2013 had a lot of nice improvements. Would I buy one again? Most likely although I think I would go to the factory and walk mine through the factory instead of off the lot.

RE: Maxx Air vent covers... Are they really "all that"?

I have two types of them on my trailer I had a powered Maxx Air on my 5th wheel that lasted a very very long time without any issues other than a squeaky motor shaft...

RE: stopping on an uphill climb

tule of thumb on larger trucks is to set the parking brake allow to roll into it so it grabs and then place in park. That few inches the vehicle rolls is a substantial amount when you think about that movment inside of the transmission. You will have no issues getting out of park or stress on the trans if you do it this way. And even though I seriously doubt your going break the parking pawl I can tell you from experience that it can be a real PITA to get it out of park the one time I did not follow my own advice....

RE: half ton tow vehicle

actually no I cannot say that I have held up any vehicles behind me where I was doing the applicable and legal speed limit, as I am well within my vehicles limits and capabilities. There has been no need for me to get down to 20 miles per hour... I am not saying that people cannot go slower however doing 20 in say a 65 speed zone is a hazard to those around you and behind you, and if you have gotten to that point with your TV you are well beyond its capabilities thats all that is being said. On my last trip using the van with the my lance the slowest I got down to was 53 in a 55, on a very long and steep grade going over into the coast; that to me is acceptable and within my vehicles capabilities. However that being said I would not add any more significant trailer to that equation because then I would be over its capabilities and be in the group of "well go for it" The truck on the otherhand I have yet to tow a trailer that has impacted it to a point of concern or ratings, certainly not performance. I did not write that statement to bash people but to get those to understand because something has a number on it does not mean it should be used to that number there are far more factors to be considered...

RE: half ton tow vehicle

I love the people that say "oh its no bog deal I am doing 25 up a mountain pass but everything is great!" Did you ever think about those of us who have a tow vehicle properly equipped that are stuck behind you that have to panic when they are confronted with you in the middle of the road trying to struggle up the hill, not to mention the semi drivers doing the same??? If you are seriously at the limit where you cannot start stop or maintain reasonable speeds then you are underated no matter how you shake it. Do yourself, family and those on the road around you a favor and be safe by being properly equiped for what you must have otherwise buy something you can feel comfortable in towing. Sorry for being harsh but this attitude of "just go for it" is ridiculous for those willing to do it right...

RE: Can I pull it????

Not to bash Chevy but the 5.3l is great for a people hauler not a tow vehicle... I have driven my friends Tahoe and just pulling a small boat it is very much aware of the load and that is just in the flats. I could not even imagine a large heavy trailer; not to mention I was less than impressed with its braking capabilities. I agree with everyone here try and see if you can go find a rental or something to see how it goes then make your decision. Just because you can pull something does not mean you should, not being able to get onto a freeway at merging speeds is more dangerous to me than many other things because you become a traffic hazard... I really hate these manufactures that try and make it out that a 1/2 ton or SUV is somehow just as capable as a 3/4-1 ton vehicle after driving many combinations over the years its simply a numbers game not reality.

RE: inveter makes whining noise when plugged in to shore power

No they are not referring to the fan... The new converters are using high frequency switching/solid state technology which is why they are much smaller but do make that odd noise. It is normal and highly annoying. I plan to put a switch on the converter to shut it off at night...

RE: New Lance 1575 Owner and new to forums

I have no choice to let the dealer try to fix it at this point I just cannot believe they will not even try to do something like comp me the awning for all of the torubles I have had I mean its a whole $300. They don't even seem to care that my goods were destroyed because of the defects and when I asked what will happen down the road when this thing develops moisture related problems, I did not even get a response to that... Sorry for venting just not happy.

RE: New Lance 1575 Owner and new to forums

So after a 3 hour drive over the mountains this past weekend and having a flood that consumed the two towels on the floor that I put down just in case and then an additional 3 beach towels to mop up the rest not to mention that my cardboard boxes with dry and paper goods were destroyed. Needless to say I am frustrated, I asked Lance if they would install a slideout topper since it seems a that its coming in on top but they say can't authorize that and now I get to spend a day going to pull the trailer from storage and drive it an hour to a dealer so they can have it for a unknown amount of time to try and fix it. I really am regretting this purchase at this point my POS Aljo with 3 slides never leaked and it had half the issues in 8 years that this has had in 8 weeks :-(

RE: Two trailers, one truck???

If you really want to go try this try flat towing a 1 ton dodge or Ford with a diesel on a tow bar. Go tow that around for a bit and let us know how you think the light weight 1/2 makes you feel, because a lot of the dynamics you will experience will be simalar to the doubles situation as stated with the balls being in motion and last trailer trying to turn seperatly etc. I think you will quickly find that there is a significant difference between a 1/2 tons handling and a 3/4 to 1 ton doing it weight is a huge factor that is being ignored; I flat towed a 3/4 ton dodge Cummins with a 1 ton Dodge Cummins and I still had a pinched seat on a few occasions... Just because the numbers say go for it means that commons sense does. And if ultimatly you decide to do this please let me know when you are in my neck of the woods on the mountain interstates so I can plan to be somewhere else! Sorry to come across rude but this is just not a discussion that should be occuring with the equipment being speced.

I have known several friends who tow doubles without issues but to be honest they are doing it with a real truck that is capable of dealing with the dynamics involved...
