RE: Excessive Vet costs?
Any time you talk about anesthesia, you are looking at $400-$500. .
That is the price my dentist said for anesthesia to get my tooth pulled.
RE: Ford V10 Actual Trip MPG
chinrv's original " Actual mpg on the way out:9.3 @75MPH; 9.4mpg @75MPH; 9.7@70MPH."
has now dropped to 1826 miles/218.5gal = 8.356MPG. Down a MPG however he really needs to slow down from 75MPH to a safer speed of 55-60MPH. I hate to see all these RVs going down the road at 75+... it just takes way to long to stop one if there is an emergancy.
RE: Excessive Vet costs?
Banfield charged me $250 so far for Xrays/Pain Meds of Sparky's back half as he managed to twist his back knee last week. He is still limping and I am scheduled to take him back on Saturday for a follow up. I ask what next if the leg did not get better and the Vet said Knee Surgury at $1000.
RE: Ford V10 Actual Trip MPG
We have a 2008 E-450 Coachmen (32"). In Florida we got almost 10 mpg on a recent trip but we normally get between 8 and 9 mpg. Wind really affects our mileage. Also, cruise control in hilly area seems to use more fuel as it downshifts more. I have never actually done a mileage check with and without cruise so this is an assumption on my part.
Try using the TowHaul button to stop the downshifts on hills and overpasses.
RE: Ford V10 Actual Trip MPG
WOW Chinry I sure wish I got your milage or used your Calculator....
9.3 @75MPH there is no way on earth that you got that in a Class C at that speed with an E450 (Square box Motorhome) with V10 running up and down mountains. Living in Colorado for 5 years I never even saw a Class C or a Class A, go up a mountain at 75MPH.
All flat land driving here in Florida at 55-60MPH the average is 6.6 - 7.5MPG on a 32' Class C. Come on out here I want to drive yours and Calculate the milage here.

RE: Get out and go... while you still can! (A whiney rant)
Well it took awhile but i read all the posts and here is my $.02 worth. Captain sorry to hear of your troubles but I would have been all over that doctor to get the knee redone right. At this point I might even concider a LAWYER.
Now for noe-place and the comments made to his post. TOMMY47 wrote: noe-place--If you're a senior, I would suggest sooner than later. Elective surgery for seniors may be harder to get after this year.
I had a parial done on my left knee a few years ago and am very pleased. I hike, bike, golf, do physical work at a golf course. No problems.
noe-place good for standing your ground. My story: kind of goes hand-in-hand with noe-place’s; I had my knee kicked out during a Martial Arts Tournament, I was diagnosed with a deteriorating left knee (cartilage gone, torn meniscus, ligaments strained) the military doctors at that time wanted to replace knee right then also. Something told me to wait so I refused the surgery after the cast was removed and continued my military career. I figured when the pain was so severe I couldn't stand it, I would replace it. That was almost 35 year ago and I'm still doing OK. The doctors that I have now all tell me to wait on any replacement as there is always a chance things can go wrong and if the pain get so severe I couldn't stand it then replace it. I also hike, bike, golf, kayak and do physical stuff. Hold off as long as you can.
RE: Too old to continue traveling ? Grown children urging ..
"What if" What if never happens then you wasted all that time waiting for it to happen... seem silly to me. That is the problem with kids....they want to run your life....Don't let them.
RE: GPS - Rand McNally v Magellan
Before we went full time, we used Tom Tom's. I found them easy to use. We purchased the large screen 7" Magellian about a year ago for use in the MH. It is designed for RV use. There are campgrounds included in the data. We've only used it for one trip between Oregon and Montana. No complaints except the cord that plugs into the unit from the 12V connection broke off at the end. I found a replacement while on the road at Radio Shack. Much easier than doing without and hasseling with warranty for a $15 item.
Bought the large screen 7" Magellian at teh Daytona show and love it so far. Easy to use and big enough to see. I also use it in the truck for everyday use.
RE: cleaning fiberglass roof top?
WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING
Do not mop yourself into a corner and have to walk on the wet washed RV roof....it is a long way to the ground from the top of the RV. Just saying be carefull it can get really slick.
Go easy on that kind of advice. . . You'll put a lot of paramedics out of work if everyone takes it. :B
Don't ask how I know this...:B
RE: Just a Picture of a Go anywhere Class A
Better do something to re-design those steps. That's a long step for some of us shorter people! LOL
It's ok those are just "droopy Kwikkee" steps they haven't deployed yet! :B :B
Anyone else notice the door is on the wrong side of teh MH???????

RE: Rv Doctor jacksonville FL
I don't know what is wrong with your RV but if you want good service at a reasonable price check out "RICK BAKERS" in Green Cove Springs just down the road from Jacksonville. Best prices and service I have found.
Never heard of Dr RV.
RE: Where would you retire?
I retired from the military and moved to Florida. Just not far enough south. I stopped after I stopped seeing the sign on the road "BRIDGE FREEZES BEFORE THE ROAD". I thought that was far enough but after being here awhile I think south of Orlando would have been better.
When I retire this next time I think I will stay here but during the real hot months July-Sept I would travel upto NC or VA or MD. Kind of a reverse snowbird.
RE: What's your " OH man did I mess up"
JAXFL still has some humor in some rotten scenes. We got to keep laughing now or then or we will surely blow a stroke or heart attack. I want to hear about leaving the water on over night. Did you attempt to drown?
Gray dog for the water one...go back to PG3 and read Ken O's post.
