RE: Valve Stuck Open

A great time to add a valve were you connect your slinky hose. It serves multiple purposes.
Ron W.
agree .... the defective cable/valve needs to be replaced .... that said, one of the first mods we make to a new camper is to super glue a Valterra T58 Twist-On Waste Valve in place .... should other valves fail, it serves as a good last ditch device to prevent a spill .... also, there is a dip somewhere in one of the lines that runs from our gray tank to the outlet .... having one of these valves in place keeps me from getting a handful when I remove the end cap ....

having wasted time and money on both home remedies and commercial products made to clean the sensors, as others have noted, we installed Horst probes and the issues vanished

RE: Whose fault is it!!! Follow up to "You forgot to do what".

So, who's fault is it Camping World or Thor's.
the only way to know is to get them to show you the build sheet they faxed/emailed to the manufacture .... that said, at this point I wouldn't really care and agree with those who recommend you immediately exit the area and start over with an outfit who cares

RE: Half Ton Fifth wheel advice...

in the half ton towable market, I believe the Jayco Eagle HT is the best built one out there .... it is the only one I know of that has been independently tested and certified by Dometic for use from 0 to 100 degrees

RE: What method do you use to jack up your 5er or trailer?

until a little over a year ago my response would be X7 to the for the bottle jack under the u bolt method .... after installing a Bigfoot leveling system, I can push a button and lift any or all of our camper's tires off the ground .... last Monday I did so, lifted all 4 off the ground so that we could have 4 new G614's installed

RE: Camping World Greenwood IN.. Backs out of sale!

the good news is GoodSam's top management has formed what they label as the "Marcus' Rapid Response Team" to deal with such issues
the bad news is GoodSam's top management knows that they have sufficient problems in their organization to make forming such a team necessary

RE: 6 Point Leveling System

I want to have a 6 point leveling system installed on my 5th wheel
what brand of 5er do you have .... if its frame is sufficiently strong to use a 4 point system, you would have a much larger field of leveling systems to pick from

Credit where credit is due

as a long time/lifetime member of GoodSam I have haven strongly disappointed in the direction that its administration is going in many areas .... if it was the only source out there, I'd be hard pressed to buy a camper from Camping World .... nor if any other viable option was available would go to them for even emergency service .... that said, I do commend them for what I see and have experienced as a marked improvement in the quality of service provided in their Roadside Assistance program .... over the years we have sat for hours in highly populated areas waiting on help but that no longer seems to be the norm .... our daughter has her own camper, is a GoodSam member and has their Roadside Assistance .... today she was on her way to work when the driver's front tire on her car exploded .... she called GoodSam for the first time, her call was answered quickly, she was promised assistance would arrive within an hour .... it actually arrived in about 20 minutes, the man dispatched, quickly/efficiently removed the bad tire, aired up her doughnut spare, mounted it on her car, and placed the bad tire in her trunk .... she's most pleased with the service she received .... as one who believes credit or criticism should be directed where it is due, we can't recommend most of their current programs but when it comes to their Roadside Assistance, we can recommend it to our friends

RE: Can Anyone Tell Me What Year....

Jayco's wood frame Jayflight line of campers is so sorry that it has been the best selling line of travel trailers in the US for 9 consecutive years .... there is no way to convince folks who believe that a company can't work efficiently and quickly while producing a quality product .... folks concerned about the video might find it enlightening to make the effort to go on a tour of the factory and see it first hand .... if every camper out there was built the way they build Airstreams, very few could afford a new one .... wood frame campers have been around for a very long time and that isn't going to change any time soon .... Excel puts out a pretty fair line of camper, somebody needs to tell them that wood frames are such a terrible thing

RE: is new camper actually new?

the RV industry spends millions during Jan/Feb/March holding RV Shows in all of the lower 48 (don't know if they hold them in Alaska or Hawaii) and April 1st (no this isn't an April Fool Joke) they change the model year .... if a Jayco (or most any other brand camper) is ordered today, it will be titled as a 2014 .... it would pay to make sure that if you buy a Jayco from a Camping World that the one you buy it from is an authorized Jayco dealer

RE: From a Class A to a 5th wheel

I made the same switch (From a Class A to fifth wheel) back in the 90's.
While there are things I miss about the Class A; using the bathroom while traveling, onboard generator, automatic levelers, etc., I am still convinced the fifth wheel is best for me. The difference in costs and maintenance is the biggest consideration, but I also enjoy more room, being able to back up (which you can't do for more tha a short distance when towing a toad), being able to do most of the maintenance myself and being able to afford a much newer and higher end rig.
There is no right or wrong, only what is best for you.
agree .... we've had 3 motor homes and they provide the finest traveling one can get while still on the ground .... that said, for us a 5er has proven to be a much better traveling vehicle

I admit to being curious .... in this link their 45 point inspection list for $229.99 ... in that link I can't find a list of the points inspected .... $229.99 is a long way from $2,700.00, what else did you have them do

RE: Inside Stairs

It really comes down to what your floorplan is and where your stairs are located...Do they end near the door? Do they end near any openings such as air ducting? What room is there at the bottom of the stairway?
Mark
agree .... the older I get, the less I like steps .... for that reason, earlier today, we spent some time looking at Jayco Eagle Travel Trailers .... if we could find a well built travel trailer like the old Sunnybrook Titan 33FKS that had a space for a separate washer and dryer, we may well move in that direction .... till then, we'll hang on to what we have and may take a look at modifying the steps

RE: Goodyear Tires

Others think it's *great* GY pays to repair damage done to their trailers by tire failures.
IMO - with normal checks and/or TPMS there shouldn't be tire failures!
I'd be one of those folks .... in fact, just put a new set of G614's on our 5er three days ago .... we travel the country about 7 months a year and have traveled through all of the lower 48 .... we also use a Pressure Pro system .... over time we have had three G614's to fail and cause damage, all three times Goodyear paid 100% of the repair bill and replaced the tire .... its true that in a perfect world tires shouldn't fail but as of the last time I looked we don't live in a perfect world .... if/when a company comes up with a tire guaranteed not to fail, I'll be delighted to switch .... if anyone knows of such a tire, I sure would appreciate them posting the info .... if anyone knows of a tire that carries the same or better warranty than a G614, I really appreciate that info as well
