RE: Decal free trailers - photos? - alternatives?

plain white or just a simple strip would be ok… what is butt ugly is the latest and greatest race to see who can fit the most swirls and swipes… with some there are so many swirls you can't even tell what the base color is supposed to be… swirls form the right overplayed with them from the left, and a few splashes thrown on just for drill…

RE: Cooper HT tires

Never had a single problem with Cooper tires, just bought a set this winter for the car, balancing was almost unneeded they run smooth, quiet and are preforming well, and I am happy with them…

RE: Drip Pot Diesel Stove

If they accurately meter out the fuel and compensate for the temp differences I am sure they would work, I know they will heat well… what is powering the metering valve??? I just haven’t kept up with them and as I age I think more about ways to get closer to the equator anyway… The DW will get used to those amenities pretty quick… don’t let her read about inverters powering hair driers…

RE: Roof question?

Unfortunately I can do a uglier looking caulking job than that… Hard to tell in the picture but I don’t think it’s cracking…

RE: Drip Pot Diesel Stove

Jump down off the hostility wagon guys, I have a properly functioning propane furnace but travel in the far north a lot (arctic and sub arctic) and do not generally camp in campgrounds. Here to fore I have tent camped or used a pop up where such a stove wasnt practical and I am not looking for cheap here as these are far from inexpensive. Its clear most of you have no idea what I am talking about but these stoves are very common around the world and I even used them in the Army. They are a non-pressurized system that uses a metering valve to regulate the fuel and I have had one in a fishing boat and in a cabin and they work great. This is a particular stove I have been impressed with in the past but there are several others of various sizes: http://www.refleks-olieovne.dk/default.asp?pagenumber=1567. I have to say, throwing out a question and getting flak for thinking differently because I have different needs is not a very encouraging sign for this forum. Sorry I know exactly what you are talking about, we used them in the service to… I also owned one that was in a small but old mobile home… the metering valve was nothing more than a normal valve, counter clockwise to open and turn it more for higher gravity feed fuel flow… when the fuel warms from either the sun or the ambient temps the flow increases and the wheel needed constant adjustments… in the service someone was always awake to keep an eye on them… now it’s been awhile since I was in the service or used the one I owned, so things might of changed… what hasn’t changed is my opinion of them… this is the same thing but is for heating water in large garbage cans… http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/jjbirish_photos/M67emersionheatermilitary_zpsbc6ce514.gif width=225 http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x126/jjbirish_photos/emirsionheater_zps910be4db.jpg width=225 if so what’s different today and how is it different???

RE: Liquid fabric softener and black/gray tank smell

If you are anal about cleaning you tanks :h, the absolute best product to use to clean the tanks is powered dishwasher detergent dissolved in a few gallons of water and driving around a bit… Although it’s not dermatologists approved like some of the products mentioned… :)

RE: Fridge

No expert here either, but my first guess would be the size of the cooling areas, the freezes evaporator coils are the first to begin the removal of heat making it the most efficient and are larger than the fridge evaporator… what you get is the combined effect of these and other things I guess…

RE: Drip Pot Diesel Stove

Has anyone thought about or made a modification to put in a drip pot diesel stove into their TT for cold weather camping? I had a small one on a fishing boat that was entirely gravity fed from a gal tank and it heated the whole cabin and didnt need electricity to do it. This would require a small stack and I suspect a lot of people wouldnt want to get any soot on their shiny rigs but for boondocking it seems like a good fit. Just looking at some options/bouncing some ideas. :E:E Seems to me this idea is an accident just waiting to happen. Cheap in this case can turn on you in a bad way in a hurry. There IS a reason as to why you don't see these in use in homes, autos, RVs boats and so on. Regulating the oil "drip" is virtually impossible. Oil changes viscosity quite a lot over a very short temperature. To keep it from over firing you would have to constantly monitor and adjust the drip rate. Why be so darn CHEAP :h If you can not afford to spend a few $$ on running a proper RV propane furnace then you should not and have no business living or using a RV in the winter, period. Your life (and others) along with your RV is certainly not worth risking a catastrophe :M you must of used on of these before… I had one I removed from an old trailer, and yes it heated well but was about as unsafe as anything I ever seen, and you are completely right as to why they are unsafe…

RE: Furnace Cycling - SOLUTION w/ Pictures

read the same thing here several times about builders not following mfg. instructions for furnace installation causing air flow issues, mostly short cycling… not very uncommon… I’m not completely sure the mfg.’s bother to read the instructions even, per my earlier post about air volume and number and location of ducts… it a good idea to keep the manuals handy… I'm being lambasted over in the mods forum for not following manufacturers instructions as well...I mounted my supply duct closer than 2' to the cold air return. A slightly modified design where the cold air return is on the left and duct is on the right should satisfy that requirement, but the way I set it up was to direct the air from that duct up and away so that it wouldn't draw it's own heated air back inside. At the end of the day, the furnace is no longer short cycling, and I've followed almost all of the manufacturers instructions, minus the 2' rule. I may build a modified panel to address that yet. As long as it’s working the way you did it, you did much better than they… BUT it’s their responsibility to know and do these things right not just for your sake, but everyone with that model… the heck of it is they do it without cabinets and other obstructions in the way that make it more difficult… Good job… I would be carful and not go any smaller on the intake vent and restrict at the other end of the furnace…

RE: Camping World of Katy

Pretty shallow thinking around here sometimes… I am sorry you had your problems and apparently didn’t read the manuals or know it had Electric Hot Water… though you say it wasn’t covered in the PDI, it should have been, I tend to be more self-reliant about stuff like that… The hot rod shouldn’t have been installed but I have heard of people installing them to increase recovery rates on the CG’s dime… how they affect the warranty I don’t know but think I have read they can void it… Should you be reimbursed for the cost of the hot rod??? Yes… because I don’t think the tech should have installed it in the first place, even though it WAS at your request… From you complaint you have a couple of real issues outside of communications issues that you blame 100% on CW… they are the amount of time they had the unit for repair, and the fact you claim the toilet was used by someone at the dealer… I have no ties with CW what so ever, but this is the place to come to bash them I guess… They own the site, they own CW, Good Sam, and half the RV publications out there, and are, if not becoming the country’s largest RV dealer… They invite and promote these forums to millions of Rv’ers and it has more RV members than any other site by large numbers… I would suspect that complaints and rants would find their way here, but after reading the forums for years that based on what I have read that their rate of complaints is not so great for the size of the company… I also have to consider that all of those complaints and rants are one sided without rebuttal (the reliability factor is on the low side)… They are the only company that even allows these rants to go on, for what reason is beyond my… Also under Dear Marcus heading, there are forums especially for your type of complaints where an effort is made to resolve issues… to the best of my understanding if the complaint has merit it happens, but I doubt that means they will just rollover either…

RE: Top tier gasoline.

One question I have is who is this "Top Tier Gasoline"? I looked at the site and see no credentials or "about" links. It looks more like an online infomercial site. The link "history of top tier" is a 76 sponsored site with a video called "ask a supermodel" halfway down the page. I don't know, looks more marketing then scientific to me. Owned by Phllips 66 click

RE: ???? For open frame Generator users.

most of the Hondas I have heard because of their small size were banging out about 60 DB laboring to do the job asked of them, quieter than mine but hardly quiet at the time… the right sized generator like the Honda 5500/6500 would be plugging along at around 54db doing the same job… maybe its time to dump all of those little 2000 Hondas, if making the argument that quiet is the only consideration in a generator, as many of you make…

RE: Top tier gasoline.

Not all gasoline’s with higher levels of detergents have elected to join Top Tier… For example, BP, which is not listed as a Top Tier gas, was named in a media report as having detergent levels comparable to two Top Tier gasoline marketers … It remains however that oil companies PAY to use the Top Tier label, and some simply refuse… That does not mean, that their gasoline is inferior in any way… many companies use the same types and amounts of detergents as do the Top Tier brands and have wisely or unwisely choose not to pay for the label Top Tier… Bottom line -- buy the least expensive national brand available, and don't waste money on labels and, avoid stations with old rusty, leaking tanks that may contaminate the fuel with water and dirt… The linked web site is owned and operated by the Phillips 66 Company… The operations, businesses and properties described in the Web site are owned and operated by Phillips 66 or by various affiliates and subsidiaries of Phillips 66.

RE: ???? For open frame Generator users.

I have had my Generac sitting out on my awning side and to the rear of the trailer… it is louder than the inverter generators while standing outside… and i barely heard it inside… with anything running it would have been hard to hear… although I have been beside a guy using his 2000 Honda on the street side of my trailer and I heard it quite well while I was inside… it must have been well loaded and the exhaust side pointed my direction… Seems like there is a lot more to sound transmission than just db’s… the quietest one I have ever heard was the Honda 5500 inverter (Honda EU6500IS Inverter Generator), and is what I would buy to use as a camping generator… more power not more noise… BTW: I hear the neighbors water heater, or furnace, and even his AC running while inside my trailer...
