Gulf State Park is only 14 miles south. Nice park and they just opened a new zip line course this year. :)

RE: Ford F250 Tire Upgrade

I'm looking to upgrade my stock 265/70r18 michelins for a larger tire it not to compromise load rating and handling when pulling the 9500lb or so TT. I'm looking at Nitto terra grappler 295/65r20 which has a load rating of about 4k. Anybody run this set up for a beefier look but not compromising pulling?
The 2013 F250's that have 20" wheels use 275/65R20. Using 295 height tire seems a bit much IMHO.

BUFFALO, NY, Where to stay?

Visiting family in Buffalo this summer & would like to find a decent campground other than those on Grand Island which are ridiculously expensive due to there proximity to Niagara Falls. Anyone have any suggestions!

RE: powerhouse generator

My generator is a Dometic 3000. After purchasing it I found out that it was made in China where they make them for a variety of companies, just add a different label. As it looks identical to the Powerhouse I will presume its the same generator. If I had to do over again I would spent the extra dollars and purchase a Honda. What I have now is a piece of junk. Most of the time it won't start and repair parts are almost impossible to get. Stick with the Honda!

RE: Cross Country trip this May

Judging by the Google map it looks like you'll be taking I-90 across South Dakota. You'll see signs for Wall Drugs along the way & its worth a stop over. Also in that area is the Battlefield of Little Big Horn another must see along with Deadwood a famous western town that holds the graves of Wild Bill Hickok who was killed there & Calamity Jane. In Pennsylvania a trip to Gettysburg is well worth it & in St Louis, MO visit the Budweiser Brewery home of the Clydesdales.

RE: black mold

Plugged in, definitely! Another trick is leaving an unshaded lamp on with a 60w light bulb burning 24/7. I kept mine on the kitchen floor away from anything to prevent possible fire. That little bit of heat does wonders regarding moisture build up in cold weather.

RE: Dollywood and Nashville Campground recomendations

In Nashville there are 3 on Music Valley Drive near the Opry. Jellystone, KOA Two Rivers CG. Personally I like Jellystone as its shaded, clean & well managed with about 400 all pull through sites. Reservations are a must in the summer.

RE: FMCA Black Eye

I commend you for being concerned. Someone could be killed by a "drunk driver". I think the best course to take would be call Law Enforcement, give them a discription of the vehicle (tag # if possible), and let them handle the problem. I am a member of FMCA and I do not condone DWI. I would never hesitate calling the authorities and let them handle it.
You sure got that right. I like my alcohol but after the driving is done!

RE: Fantastic vent fan or Maxx Air Turbo?

You have another choice, the Deluxe Model Max Air. It's remotely controlled, drawn air out or if left closed it acts as a ceiling fan when reversed. I just had one installed in our bedroom & it's worth the extra few bucks over the Max Turbo. In another RV I had the fantastic fan & it too was great. The deluxe Max fits the 14x14 standard vent opening & it uses the already installed power source once the current fan is removed.

RE: New trailer service question\Tow

Remember, your warranty is only 12 months, after that take it anywhere. I bought mine in Ohio & no problem getting service in Florida & was treated well. It all depends on the dealer & remember they get paid for warranty work by the manufacturer so if they are smart they treat you well in hopes of future business.

RE: "Nice" Nashville TN Campground?

Instead if starting a new thread on the same topic, and without hijacking this one, wanted to bring it back to life as I too will be there next week and made a reservation at Two Rivers but have not paid or committed. Thinking maybe Jellystone or KOA might be a better option. Thanks to the OP and comments and hoping more will chime in.
Two Rivers is the least expensive of the three & in my opinion ranks # 3 in that group. KOA has some beautiful sites up front, paved pull through, concrete pad etc., but many of the sites are crowed & less desirable. Jellystone has all pull through gravel sites, all about the same size. With the exception of the KOA front sites I favor Jellystone.

RE: Where to put our Generator

Thanks for all the ideas. It looks like we need to do some research on a few of these ideas. We will take another trip over spring break and test it out.
If you want, send me your e-mail address (josephkquinn@hotmail.com)amd I send you some pictures of my truck bed setup. I haven't figured out how to post them here.

RE: Oscar Sherer SP

We have stayed there several times, and it is one of our favorite parks. As said, lots of privacy between sites, and lots of trees. The river front sites are great, but most of them are pet free. The descriptions and dimensions of each site on Reserve America appear to be pretty accurate. Sites are all different sizes and shapes, but there are plenty of big ones - even some pull throughs.
It seems like you are out in the sticks, but you are really just off the Tamiami Trail within easy drive of the beaches in Venice or Siesta Key as well as near supermarkets, etc.
We were in site 57 one year which was a little tricky getting into due to a inconveniently placed tree, but if I remember correctly, the had been removed ...
More recently we were in 65 a couple of different times which was easy in and out amd more typical of the other sites.
Hello Stone Harbor....Visited there summer 2011...great spot & beautiful beach on the Jersey Shore

RE: Trailer Storage Humidity Control

Hello Buffalo....Being from Orchard Park I can tell you it's not an issue until the thaw comes. Suggest you install a Max Air vent cover on your roof, leave the vent open for the musty air to escape & fresh air to enter. If your not familiar with Max Air Google it. Believe me....problem solved for $35.00.

RE: Oscar Sherer SP

I'm quite familiar with this park as I used to live just a few miles away. It's heavily wooded and all the sites are very private. You will be on dirt as there are no paved sites. I've seen every type RV in there from popups to 40ft motor homes and bringing out your slides won't be an issue. It is very family oriented & the location is great as it connects to The Legacy Trail for biking, running etc. The major negative is if it rains or has rained the place takes forever to dry out with the lack of sunshine from all the trees. All in all it's a nice place.

RE: Where to put our Generator

I keep my generator in my truck bed 24/7. I sectioned out an area near the tailgate using 2in by 8in planks. I boxed in a section near the right wheel well that the genset slips into. Mine has a telescopic handle for lifting & wheeling so when I want to use the generator I entend the handle & pull the generator out over the open tailgate so it has alot of ventalation & does not fill my truck bed with fumes. Next to the genset I keep a 25ft 30amp extention cord that is used to plug into the TT's power cord so now I have over 55ft of cord length. When I'm finished using the generator I disconnect the cord, let the gen cool down & push it back into it's designated slot. When stored it does not move around the back of the truck and the closed tailgate prevents it from moving backward going down the road. I also secure it with a chain connected to the eye hook in the truck bed & lock the tailgate. My truck bed is also covered with a hard cover that folds in 3 sections, so the gen is out of site 99% of the time.
