RE: Picture From Last Saturday Night....

we do it quite regularily.. but it's on the 40" external TV on my parents DP, it's movie night.. We make sure it doesn't disturb others (sound and picture), and it's usually done before dark. The only other time we have it on is to watch some football games, and then there starts to be wanderers that end up stopping in to watch the game.

RE: 3/4 ton Duramax capacity

The variable I find time after time that affects the factory payload rating is the wheels and the tires on the different trucks. How do you know this? Do you work for GM/Ford/Ram?

RE: Awesome slide in unit at Target today

I like the way they handle the generator and propane Generator - none - They have an inverter, extra batteries - and a heavy duty alternator on the engine. IF the information on their web sit is correct, they have a neat solution. Propane - none. They use diesel for heat and for cooking. No gasoline either - just one fuel. Yep, that's because diesel is more readily available in other (non-north american) countries.

RE: New shocks for '06 GMC Sierra 1500HD?? (Rear end bounce)

Whatever you do, stay away from the ranchos 9000xl.. Mine are shot after 1.5years and 20,000kms.. They suck.. Get bilsteins 5100..

RE: Removable towing mirror suggestions.

I had the cipa ones.. They suck compared to just replacing the mirror with the OEM tow mirrors..I won't go back to the bandaide solution..

RE: Opinion on TV for my TT - Ecoboost Towing?

My wife will be the daily driver of this truck due to her short(5 mi) one way commute, and I current have a high mpg car for my drive (45 mi) one way. Interesting.. My wife prefers the big mirrors (obviously on a different truck, but similar style), but you can see alot more with the bigger mirrors.

RE: Which Android Dash Cam App is the best?

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BlackVue-Wi-Fi-DR500GW-HD-16GB-Best-Blackbox-/251268816141?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a80c9dd0d&_uhb=1#ht_530wt_1080 Here's one similar to what I have. Very discrete, you wouldn't even know it was there. This one is pricey though, I've used other ones with less features successfully, my first one was $60.

RE: No dash camera for me

The dash cam might help you to be a better and more cognizant driver. It has also helped to determine others accidents in front of you. Oddly enough.. This is very true.. Many of the people I know (myself included) have changed their driving habits since installing a dash cam (for the better).

RE: Which Android Dash Cam App is the best?

I don't like the idea of having a phone be a dash cam, as chances are good, you'd forget to start the dash cam app when it is needed most.. I have a dedicated dash cam, it is hardwired into the truck, turns on when it senses movement. Best bet for a dash cam, is set it and forget it. If it's something you need to start everytime you get into a vehicle, you are less likely to use it.

RE: How much is too much?

Yep.. Sounds normal.. but instead of watching RPM's and boost, you should install a temp gauge for tranny/engine and watch that instead (or just get a scangauge), you'll be able to tell if you are working it to hard by the temperature.

RE: Is it worth while listing campgrounds with difficult access.

I do not know that publishing a list of difficult to access campgrounds would make sense as we are all driving different sized rigs. We also all have different driving skills and comfort zones. What he said.. Define difficult..I've squeezed my rig into some very tight spots w/o breaking a sweat (or a scratch). On another note, I don't think a list would do anyone any good. Not to mention the liability if you were wrong (or god forbid didn't have something on the list).

RE: Are semi-truck conversions welcome in RV parks?

I think the access road (once in the campground), and length of your vehicle could be the only challenge. But I guess if you're hitting up more "resort" style campgrounds, that wouldn't be a problem. Up here, my Parents have a 38' DP, and it can be a challenge to try and keep the full body color unscathed.. Although most of the CG's up here were designed/built in the 70s, and there's only a few that have widened the roads.

RE: Truck Tire Pressure with Stabilizer Bars?

What is the max rating on the tires? That is something you will have to adjust after each trip.. I've got a larger trailer, and I find 65-70psi in the rear is about right, 55 in front. But my tires are good to 80psi.

RE: Security Issues and Safes for RVs

you are lucky you live in the peaceful country of Canada where you don't have to worry about theft or terrorism. bumpy Just shows how ignorant you are Bumpy... I visit your wonderful country many times a year.. But I guess that would involve you actually reading my posts.. Have fun.. I'm done..

RE: Security Issues and Safes for RVs

you can leave your $1000 camera laying on the dinette if you want to. at least I will slow them down a second or two. and the noise of their chain saw should be a tip off. :) but like the fella with the pistol, if I am off for the day my camera will no doubt be with me. bumpy And who is the chain saw going to tip off? When I'm camping, I hear chain saws all the time, it's called a forest. I wouldn't think anything of it.. But anyone with half a brain, would realize they'd probably use a blow torch or pry bar to break the safe off. And you pack up all your valuables everytime you leave your trailer? You must be a fun person, being paranoid with the zombey-apocalypse, end of the world, everybody is out to get YOU paranoia every time you leave your RV. As mentioned.. you're just looking for an argument..

RE: Almost made a huge mistake

I find it curious while tooling around a RV website that some are hung up on GVWR to figure loads on the trucks axles. Then tool around a LTL commercial haulers website using the same truck and one of the first question from experienced operators is "whats the trucks GAWRs" ?? So how do you know the axle is the weakest link? A truck's GVWR is based of the weakest link determined by an OEM enginerd. What that link is, they will never tell you. I know it doesn't make sense, but the numbers are there for a reason. I'm sure this varies from state to state, as I just recently found out, here, in Alberta, as long as you have the right spec tires for your load, you are good to go (scary), whereas in BC it's GVWR.

RE: New to scan readers and have question about code

Yest that is what he means.. unfortunately these basic code readers aren't the be all and end all. They only read CEL codes, many times there are additional codes that can pin point the problem. As an example, a misfire on cylinder #2, could be anything from a spark plug, to knock sensor. The dealer's code reader has more diagnostic programing and can narrow it down. I personally have a code reader (like OP), because every once and a while I will get a CEL on my car (I know it's from a lightened flywheel I installed), and don't like driving with a CEL on. this allows me to clear it (and make sure it's the same CEL code). And it just happened on a brand new car we just purchased, turns out whoever changed the oil at the dealership, left the key on acc, and this causes a low oil level warning light on the dash. The only way to clear it (of course I checked the oil level first), is to clear the codes. That just saved me alot of hassle running to the dealership and back.

RE: Security Issues and Safes for RVs

no I am looking for an answer. now it is more likely that some bad guy sees me walking around with a $1,000 worth of camera stuff around my neck, watches me go in the RV, leave without it, and knows that there are some goodies inside. now are they left out on the table, no. are they in a drawer, no. HMMMMbumpy If you think that a thief is just going to look in your trailer and not look thru any of the cabinets, you sir, are a fool. Under the seat is probably the SECOND place they would look after the closet. They know you have a $1000 camera.. which more than likely means you have more expensive electronics. Remember, they will wait until they see you leave (they'll wait to see you pack up for a daytrip), then once in the trailer, they have LOTS of time. Whatever.. If you need a safe to feel like your belongings are safe, have at er.. I've been camping for 30years, I've stayed in walmarts, truck stops,pull-outs, campgrounds, backroads, and all sorts of sketchy places, ALL over North America, and never ONCE has anything been stolen, or have I heard of anything being stolen. Hell we didn't even lock our RV door (except in storage), until we had kids (5 years ago).

RE: New to scan readers and have question about code

That's completely up to you. I would keep it for a month or so, just to make sure the code doesn't pop up again.

RE: Security Issues and Safes for RVs

exactly how does somebody walking by my RV know that I have a "safe" under the dinette seat? bumpy Sigh.. I guess you're looking for an argument.. Why do you need a safe if no one can see in your trailer?
