RE: Dyeing carpet

Here's what I found on a search last year about dyeing carpet. They used a two gallon spray bottle and added three packages of RIT dye. This person went from a medium gold colored carpet to the cocoa brown color. Brushed all the nap in one direction, soaked the carpet really good, worked it in with a medium stiff brush, brushed nap the opposite direction, reapplied the dye and worked it in with hands (gloves), let dry overnight and vacuumed. They did say they picked up a little color if they walked on it with wet feet. They said they hoped to shampoo and think that will take care of the problem. I never tried it myself but I hung on to the directions for when my carpet gets bad. Hope this helps.

RE: Mammoth Cave, Kentucky

My family also stayed at Jellystone in Cave City. I agree with the above post. We rented a golf cart at the campground that was kind of neat. The sites were shady and the location was very convenient.

RE: clabough campground Pigeon Forge

Thanks for the pictures brydr1. The creek looks a lot bigger than I thought it would be. I noticed your awning in the pictures had one pole attached to the camper and one on the ground like a patio. I've never seen one set up like that. I've only used my awning one time, so I'm curious, what's the advantage to this way?

clabough campground Pigeon Forge

I just booked site number 128 and 153 at Clabough campground in Pigeon Forge. 128 is an rv site and 153 is a tent site on the creek. Does anyone have any information about these sites that might be important to me. The trip is in April.

RE: Ichetucknee Springs State Park, FL

We were there 2 weeks ago and stayed at Oleno SP, it's 12 miles from Ichetucknee. We stayed in the dogwood section and loved it. The road was rough but it's not like you're going to drive on it for a long time just take your time and go slow. The sites were very shady and private. We also saw deer everyday. We went in a 30 ft class c.

Ichetucknee Springs

Have any of you taken your rv to the park? We are going to camp at Oleno state park down the road but we thought we might drive it to the springs and we don't know if you can park it in the parking lot. We would like to have it in what I think they call the south entrance where you exit the river. Any information would be helpful.

Kingsley RV Park, Starke Florida

Does anyone know if you can still camp and swim at Kingsley Beach in Starke FL on SR 16? Or do you know of a place in the area where you can swim in a lake? I want to take the grand kids tomorrow. I found a web site that makes me believe it's open but I can't get through on the phone.

RE: Oleno State Park Florida

Naturally my site is in the Dogwood area. I have a 30 foot class c, I hope they would not give me a site I can't get to. I went to the link above and noticed the narrow pass, my rv is 101 inches. I can't change the site, it says it's for an rv no longer than 30 feet which is what mine is. I wonder if anyone on this site has been on site number 48 or any site in the dogwood section and would like me know If I can make it.

RE: foot gets hot on the gas pedal from airflow from engine

We had the same problem when we first got our RV. Dh took the dog house off and put it back on. The last person to put it on had not made sure it was on correctly. We've had no problems since then.

Oleno State Park Florida

I've reserved a spot for July 10 and I'm wondering about the swimming for young children. The web page says they have swimming but I want to hear from someone that's been there. Is there anything you can tell me about the place, any tips I need to know before I go?

RE: Why should I NOT buy a class C?

We started with an A and kept it for 5 years but we just didn't have enough sleeping room. I was afraid of the C because I liked the way you sat up high in the A and could see way down the road. Bought the C because of sleeping space but now love it because it just feels more like driving your car. Sorry I can't give you any reasons not to buy a C.

RE: question about 2003 Forest River Sunseeker 2900

I bought my 2005 Sunseeker a year ago and I like it more each time I use. The only problem I've had is I don't get to use it as much as I would like. It drives like my car, almost and is very comfortable once you get where you're going. I like the idea of a 2 bedroom home away from home on wheels. I had a class A before getting this one and it didn't have enough sleeping space. We piled up on the every inch of floor space which made going to the bathroon at night a nightmare if you were one of the people sleeping on the floor.:)

storage in bench seats of dinnette

I was wondering, I see lots of people store stuff in this area. Sometimes people have even put pull out bins under there. I have a 2005 Sunseeker and I have large metal braces that my seatbelts are attached to in those spots. I could put small items between the braces but not much. My question is how many of you have these braces and are they a safety feature.

RE: Body weight on Class C cab over

Thanks STU that's about what my daughter and her husband weigh and I've wondered if they could sleep up there occasionally. It does make sense if it were a problem I guess people would be talking about it more.

RE: Body weight on Class C cab over

I asked this same question about a year ago when I bought my used class c and this was the one thing that nobdy seems to know. At least one person wrote 300lbs was the limit. I've read people's answers to all types of questions on this forum. It's just wierd that people don't have much information on this topic. I'll be watching to see if you get any more responses.

Suwannee River SP FL

We'll be going to Swannee River SP in FL in a couple of weeks for spring break. We have a class c and we are not taking a toad. My grandson wants to fish, so my question is to anyone that's been there. I need to know some where close that we can buy bait before we set up camp. I've never been there before so any suggestions would be great.

RE: boy what a mess

Both questions are good ones. 1. No need to have the water hooked up. I ask my DH as we were leaving did you disconnect the hose and his answer was it's alright I turned the faucet off:D. 2. Still not quite sure what my brother was thinking, perhaps one to many beers while standing around the old fire barrel. Everything has pretty much dried out now. It looks fine and I guess we'll know about any odors in a few days. I don't think I'll have to ask the DH about the hose anymore and just for good measure we are going to leave the gray tank open, while it's there. My brother meant well and he feels terrible so we won't ask too many questions. We love the RV but we love my brother more. The main reason we bought the RV was so we could visit with him. He plays some mighty fine old time country songs with his old guitar, around the fire at night. Life's to short to worry about the little things we'll be back up there this week end sitting around the fire and having a good ol time. I just wanted a little advice about the clean up.

boy what a mess

http://inlinethumb05.webshots.com/23748/2220425380104655179S600x600Q85.jpg We keep our RV at my brothers house about 1 hour from my home. We go visit about once a month, so we just leave it parked in his yard he lives in the country and has plenty of room. Well today I got a phone call that there was an accident with the RV. From what I understand the weather was suppose to be down to freezing, so my brother decides to turn the water on at the sink so the pipes won't freeze. I guess he forgot I have a holding tank and not a septic tank. Well as you can imagine the tank fills up and over flows from the sink. The table was lowered as a bed and all the water soaked in the cushions and in the carpet. They took a wet and dry vac. and got up as much water as possible from the carpet. Then called me. I went and picked it up. Now I have the cushions in my garage on a drying rack with a fan on them, I unzipped them hoping that will help. I don't know and was afraid to ask how long the water ran. He felt so bad and he says he turned the water off and somehow the outside faucet had a leak but 2 and 2 doesn't add up. Family you gotta love em. What do you think my chances are that it won't stink and smell moldy when every thing dries out.As you can see in the picture above or at least I hope you can see a picture. The location of the the sink, we were lucky and it was running toward the cab of the truck and not back toward the camper part. Any hints that might keep things from going from bad to worse.
