RE: OOOPS! Left My Door Open Today!

My neighbor often calls me from this work-place asking me to look over his back fence to see if his garage door is closed. He usually calls right after he gets to work. That said, I have come back home to find my front door wide open. oops. Love my neighborhood.

RE: Portland to San Francisco on the 101

As faar as the toll on the GG Bridge, don't worry about it. They will send you a bill with a picture of your license plate. Still haven't figured out how they know you're towing a car though. We usually only go North on the bridge when in the RV. I we are heading south we go over the Richmond- San Raphael Bridge which has a toll north bound only. Some of the tolls cah be $28 when towing a car or trailer.

RE: Oxygenics Shower Head

I put the Oxygenics head in our shower last year and I really like it. We don't turn off the water when we shower because we limit our shower time. We get a good stream and don't use a lot of water. We have only dry-camped, at the most for 4 days, so we really don't have a lot of experience in that area.

RE: digital tv reception

II installed the Winegard Wingman from CW and it does pull in HD stations in the 100 range. I didn't get them before I added it. I think it works great and was easily installed on my crank-up antenna. If I had my druthers, I would prefer the new digialy antenna, but I didn't want to install it. Jack

RE: Wi-Fi How Come?

I have a USB WiFi antenna and it really does make a difference when reception is marginal. I got the antenna from C Crane in Fortuna, Ca. I used it on a cross-county trip last fall and it worked quite well. All of that said, when it's really bad, nothing helps.

RE: Do Toad's Really Get Beat Up Back There? Looking at new CR-V

We tow a 94 Honda Accord and it has some small dings in it, (where a bumper would be if it had one), We do have a full rock guard across the back tires. We have found small rocks, pebbles really below the windshield by the wiper blades. Then again, the Accord sits real low and catches everything thrown at it.

RE: Do RV's get Roaches

Don't have them, but since we too our long cross country trip we have had stink bugs. When we first saw them they flew accross the coach and sounded like bombers. Now at home they seem more tame and lathargic. Seems like they come crawling out once in a while when we're not looking and there they are. WEIRD.

RE: Parks Near Yosimite

Any chance you are an Escapee member? They have a great park - Park of the Sierras in Coarsegold, but you must be an Escapee. Not a member. I hear that we might be able to stay at the Thousand Trails RV park. Looks like we might be staying in two parks anyway. Our friends from LA only want to stay 3 nights and it's a ways to the Valley from where they want to stay. I'm inclined to move after 3 days and be closer to the Valley entrance. Thanks for the suggestions.

RE: RVing in Washington, DC

We stayed at Cherry Hill last fall and loved it. It was easy to get to the Metro on the bus. Once we even rode for free when leaving the park headed to the Metro. We left our Metro passes at the office for someone else to use the remaining $$. Our only issue is we could have stayed there longer. Isn't that always the case though. We would definitely go back to Cherry Hill RP Park.

RE: Parks Near Yosimite

Anyone stayed at High Sierra RV park in Oakhurst? We are supposed to meet some friends from LA and they have stayed there a couple of times. They say it's not fancy.

RE: Rock Guard

I have one a little smaller that came equiped with a full width rock guard. It doesn't work at completely stopping rocks. We have found small rocks in up on the wipper blades on our toad. Plus we have a few small chips in the paint on the front of the car. We have towed it about 15K miles so far. It does take a toll.

RE: Replacing TVs

Jack You will get good HD reception with your batwing but adding a simple snap on Wingman to the underside of the batwing will increase the number of channels you pick up and the clearity for around $35. Crud, I had that one in my basket when I got a bunch of stuff at CW and then I took it out. Does it really make that much difference?

RE: Custer SD Camping HELP!!!

We stayed at the Rafter J last fall for about four nights as part of our cross-country trip. We felt the location was great for what we wanted to do. It was close enough to Mt Rushmore to go to the night lighting program where all the Vets in attendance were invited onto the stage. We drove to see the Buffallo in the park and drove the Needles hiway. If you are into trains, Hill City had a great station and train ride. Don't bother to go to Deadwood, unless you are into gambling. It was a disapointment from when I was there 35 years ago. Don't for get the Crazy Horse Memorial. The gift shop and museum is first rate. I also saw that 35 years ago and I could see the progress. I would stay at the Rafter J if I make it back that way.

RE: Replacing TVs

The old tube TV is out and I have a new 32" JVC LED TV ready to install as soon as I have the mount and time. I bought a new Sony DVD and HDMI cable to go with it and can't wait to get it all together. There is some wood working involved to build the cabinet face frame, but I'm up for that.

RE: LED TV Viewing Angle

I just bought an 32" JVC LED TV and in the store this one and the Vizio were side-by-side. The JVC looked better for color, so I bought it. I brought it home and hooked it to an old Sony DVD player. The color and sound were very good and I am satisfied in my choice. I have to buy the mount yet and install it into the cabinet, but I am well on my way to a new TV in the rig. As far as viewing angle, it didn't seem to be an issue with any of the LED models I looked at. Did I mention the TV only weighs 9lbs? WOW what a difference from what I took out. You can go to any of the big box stores and look at each model to check out viewing angle & sound issues. A while back we bought a Polaroid LCD TV for our home kitchen. The reason we go it was for the built in DVD player, which we rarely use. The viewing angle on that one is terrible! My wife is used to it now, but man it irritates me to no end. Not to mention the sound was so bad I had to buy a set of external speakers just to have it usable. Live and learn.

RE: TV Conversion

Randy, Don't know if you got yours out yet, but I took my TV out yesterday. There are four 5" long screws, (silver colored) that hold the frame in. The screws are a square bit drive There are two on each side accessed from the side cabinets. They screw into the "wings" on the face frame to told it in. Once they are removed with an impact driver or drill driver, just pull the frame off. Now there are 4 smaller screws, one at the 4 corners of the TV as you are in front of it. The ones at the top hold a piece of plywood with felt around it. Take that out. Take the bottom screws out and then you can slide the TV forward. Do it with a friend so one can unplug the cable and plugs from the back. It's also best to unplug it from the power socket before you remove it. It only took about 10 minutes to remove the TV. The longer portion is to figure out what mount to use for the new TV. I haven't got that far yet.

RE: Do you leave your space heater ON over night?

It's no different than leaving it on at home. We leave our Vornado heaters on. I agree we have left our Vaorado heater on if it's too cold. I don't like it when ite gets down below 40 degrees inside no matter if in our house or in our rig.

RE: Best phone app for expenses

I use Quicken on my MAC and also Excel. I just checked for the Quicken App and it's only good with Windows OS not Apple.
