RE: Towing... what is the cost????

When I started towing my Chevrolet 2500, which weighs close to 6000lbs, my mileage went up about 1/2 mpg. Why? Because when I am towing I slow down from about 72 to 65. So as others have said, there are much bigger factors in fuel mileage than the toad. Although I would recommend something less than 6000 lbs as it pushed my little motorhome around a bit. As for cost, it looks like most of the estimates given are to have it done. You could save a good bit if you can do some of the install yourself

RE: AC on while driving question

My thermostat stores the last setting, I suppose as long as there is 12vdc to it. Turn on your a/c and see if there is a delay before it actually comes on. Mine is a minute or 2. If your's has a delay, you will be fine doing what you ask.

RE: Tire question from a Newbee

I am in a similar boat. My tires were manufactured in 2004, only 16000 miles and look great. My concern with a blowout is fiberglass damage.

RE: 2006 Monaco Knight engine temp gauge

Not sure but I would guess the sensor for the gauge would be a single wire sensor, probably with a stud and nut holding the wire on with a ring terminal. The other will be a sensor with a 2 wire plug plugging directly into it. Both should be around thermostat housing or on head. I assume you have an ISB? If so and you can't find them, I can look at mine and see if I can find them.

RE: Generator Question

Still... I think your generator does not have a high enough "no-load" idle speed. We have run our 8K Onan under the exact same condition that you described and I've never noticed any fluctuations in the tv satellite receiver. In fact, I can barely discern any rpm, or sound, difference in the generator at all. I suggest that you have your generator looked at and possibly have the idle rpm set a little higher. Hope this helps Ron The quietdiesel generators are different depending on the model. 7.5 and below use an internal inverter to generate the ac power. 8.0 and up are rpm sensative and run at a constant speed regardless of load. I have a 7.5 but it picks up the load fast enough that it doesn't seem to affect other things. Ron My 8.0 changes speed significantly with load but never causes a problem like the OP describes.

RE: 2006 Monaco Knight engine temp gauge

Mine has 2 sensors. One is an electric sensor that feeds the gauge. The other is another electric sensor but it feeds the engine ECM. Your Aladdin system probably gets its info from the ECM, so it is reading from a different sensor than your gauge.

RE: algae in fuel

What pump did you use? Fill-Rite FR 1614. Northern tools has them but I found it cheaper online from a store I believe in Louisiana. Sorry can't remember the name. A little noisy but works good and nice and small. Sorry took so long to reply.

RE: starting generators

You should also turn off all heavy loads when transferring. A/C's and water heater are the big ones. Microwave also.

RE: algae in fuel

I added a pump and 2 filters on mine along with a second fuel tank. I can pull from the bottom of either tank and return to either tank. Mine sits a lot so I run the pump on both tanks before running the engine or gen to remove any water that may have condensed. Works great but makes me a little nervous to have the fitting on my fuel tanks being nearly the lowest part of the mh.

RE: QD7500/8000 Temp Sensor - Roll Call Info Sharing

1. Yes at about 6 years and 500 hrs. Very hard starting and smoked white for a minute once it did start.

RE: HELP! I'm stranded at a gas station in my Monaco DP

Your ECM gets power from 2 places, the ignition switch (called switched) and constantly from the batteries or some other constant source( called unswitched). The unswitched will have inline fuses. If you are missing the unswitched power, the ECM will have a fault code in it letting the tech know. They may be saying that the ignition power is missing, since the unswitched is usually very easy to find. Sounds like they are onto it and that is actually good news as changing an ignition switch or fixing a wire is a lot less expensive than some of the other alternatives. For future reference, when you turn on the key, your check engine light should come on momentarily and then go off. That is a quick indicator that you ECM has ignition power to it.

RE: Building pole barn for the rv...suggestions?

Do you ever plan on working on the roof while it is inside? If so, you may want to figure a little taller on the roof. A 14' roll up door, if you go that route, requires more height anyway.

RE: faulty fuel gauge on 2003 Holiday Rambler Neptune

I had the pickup tube out of mine. Drilled a small hole in storage compartment above it. Got a look where stuff was and then cut about a 6" by 12" hole with a die grinder. Bought some little metal plates to reinstall the cutout piece. Not sure where the sensor was but I can look or send some pics of what it looks like. You may or may not be able to do this on yours but way better than dropping the tank.

RE: Gas price diffence

I just thought 50-60 cents was quite extreme. And people were buying it. I wont drive anywhere for 10 cents difference but might consider an 8 mile drive for 50-60. Im in my crv so i just paid it but my mh can hold 125 gals. Would have went back for that

Gas price diffence

Driving up I-85 today thru SC. Gas is 3.33 and diesel 3.65. I cross into NC and stop at exit 8 for the night. Gas about 3.85 and diesel 4.24. Why huge difference?

RE: A/C from dash not working

Are your pressures good when running? I would start by finding the expansion valve. One line into it should be hot and the other 3 lines should be cold.

RE: Another Directv Question !

You might be able to get the fox dns channels in those areas.

RE: Another Directv Question !

You can also get east and west coast feeds of all the networks in your rv if you send them your registration. I pay $3.50 per network. I suppose you could just get fox for now as they are showing NASCAR. You can receive those on sd receivers.

RE: Another Directv Question !

Local channels are part of my hd package. I only get them on my hd receivers, not on my sd receivers.
