RE: Setting up 211K and Eastern Arc 1000.4 Antenna

There are different LNB's for the EA and WA configurations but they use the same 1000.4 dish. You said the dealer set it up on the WA in Texas. Does it have an Western Arc LNB? It is the eastern arc LNB (2 together and 1 spaced off to the side). I plan on buying the western arc LNB for the trip to the west coast. I have heard one has to remove a plastic tab to fit. It's Saturday and still raining. Have not gone out to re-aim the dish with outside LNB's covered......Nuts! I bought the dish finder app for iphone. It shows the eastern arc right next to the western arc. That caused me some confusion until I let it go and went with the compass. Pat

What do you get as a result after you run the check switch routine. If you are using the foil method, the center satellite you need to locate is 72.7. After check switch, I had a green a "Green OK" in the first column. No satellite numbers. It has rained the rest of the afternoon and have not been outside. I'll try the foil method for pointing using the foil. Will run the switch check, again. I currently have the short coax attached to connector #1 on the LNB. I do not know if I need to change it or not. Thanks, Pat

RE: Idaho, what’s the story? What are the secrets?

Yellowstone Bear World in Rexburg. Idaho to feed bear cubs. They have a drive thru park. Make reservations online to feed the cubs. We reserved about 7 days ahead. I scored a lot of points with my wife for her cub feeding experience!!!!! Kids can feed the cubs as well. Don't remember the "young age" cutoff. Pat

RE: Setting up 211K and Eastern Arc 1000.4 Antenna

Remember to cover both of the outer lnb's with alum foil to allow you to be sure that you are only siting with the middle lnb. Remove the foil to allow the other two birds to be seen after you have found your original targeted bird (sat) and you should be good to go. Thanks. I didn't know about this. As said above, I'll redo while covering the outside LNBs. I'm getting scattered rain right now. Hopefully, I'll get back out there in a bit. Pat

Go to menu on your receiver. Installation...point dish..check switch. Are you sure the mast on your antenna is perfectly vertical? I have found that I can go thru everything including downloading program guide and then have a total loss of signal if my mast is not vertical. I go out and start over. Level, point and suddenly I have it. Do you use a signal meter? Remember, you are pointing the middle lnb. Good luck! I didn't know I was aiming with the center LNB and to cover the two outside ones. I'll redo everything. Also, I have only one short coax connected for the three satellites. I currently, have it connected to the connector labeled #1. Is this correct? Thanks, Pat

Did you run the check switch routine and did it show that you have found the 3 satellites, 61.5 72 and 77? I did not get all three to show up. After reading the posts after yours, I may need to redo the aiming process. I'll redo and look for all three listed. Thanks, Pat

Setting up 211K and Eastern Arc 1000.4 Antenna

For an upcoming trip to the northeast and down the east coast a ways, I'm attempting to setup Dish Satellite (DS). It was suggested here on rv.net to use the eastern arc. I have purchased the 211K, 1000.4 antenna, tv4rv tripod and 50' of rg6 coax. The 211 and antenna (antenna was assembled with 1 coax coming out of the arm) were purchased locally here in Round Rock, TX. The guy at the store setup the 211 on a western arc antenna. At home, I set up everything in the rv using existing satellite connection. Found a eastern signal, program guide downloaded and then dropped signal. After that, I could not get a signal. I repositioned the antenna, directly wired the coax between the 211 and antenna. Got another 5 bar signal, downloaded programing, dropped signal. Also, I took off the LNB to see which connector the coax was connected to. It was connected to #3 connector (third connector from the left). Any suggestions? Thanks! Pat

RE: What RV damage has Gorilla Duct Tape repaired?

Had a blow out last summer, The tire cut the black membrane above it that provided a water barrier. Repaired barrier. Also, made my own custom fit cover for generator box. Taped up all the corners. Pat

RE: calling all truckers

The walls can flex. The ride can be rough. They will probably, end up on the floor. Floors are not clean. Safer to pack them. I think U-Haul has hanging clothes packing boxes, I think. If the clothes are that important, pack'um. Pat

RE: Fried A/C, 2 TV's and micro wave-my fault or electricians.

You said you didn't specify..... I wouldn't count on an electrician automatically knowing there is a difference. When I ordered mine, I gave the serviceman a wiring diagram, specified 120v and checked his work before I plugged in the RV. No problems. Pat

RE: Dish Network.....How many ch can one record at one time?

You only have one tuner so you can only watch or record one single satellite channel at a time. However, if you also connect your over the air antenna (Batwing or similar) you can watch and record one OTA channel and one satellite channel at the same time. Since you only have one satellite tuner you don't have to worry about pointing to the correct satellite as the antenna will be pointing at the satellite from which the channel is being broadcast. You can setup the DVR timer to record upcoming programs and the antenna will move to a different satellite should that be necessary. As you noted, you just can't have any over lapping satellite programs scheduled. Thank you for the info! I'm getting close to pulling the trigger....... Pat

Dish Network.....How many ch can one record at one time?

Using the 211K receiver, how many channels can one record at one time on the additional hard drive? If only one at the time, can you set up many different recording times, as long as they don't overlap? Can you watch a channel and record another channel at the same time? I guessing the channels would have to be on the same satellite. Thanks! Pat
