RE: What RV damage has Gorilla Duct Tape repaired?

Had a blow out last summer, The tire cut the black membrane above it that provided a water barrier. Repaired barrier. Also, made my own custom fit cover for generator box. Taped up all the corners. Pat

RE: calling all truckers

The walls can flex. The ride can be rough. They will probably, end up on the floor. Floors are not clean. Safer to pack them. I think U-Haul has hanging clothes packing boxes, I think. If the clothes are that important, pack'um. Pat

RE: Fried A/C, 2 TV's and micro wave-my fault or electricians.

You said you didn't specify..... I wouldn't count on an electrician automatically knowing there is a difference. When I ordered mine, I gave the serviceman a wiring diagram, specified 120v and checked his work before I plugged in the RV. No problems. Pat

RE: Dish Network.....How many ch can one record at one time?

You only have one tuner so you can only watch or record one single satellite channel at a time. However, if you also connect your over the air antenna (Batwing or similar) you can watch and record one OTA channel and one satellite channel at the same time. Since you only have one satellite tuner you don't have to worry about pointing to the correct satellite as the antenna will be pointing at the satellite from which the channel is being broadcast. You can setup the DVR timer to record upcoming programs and the antenna will move to a different satellite should that be necessary. As you noted, you just can't have any over lapping satellite programs scheduled. Thank you for the info! I'm getting close to pulling the trigger....... Pat

Dish Network.....How many ch can one record at one time?

Using the 211K receiver, how many channels can one record at one time on the additional hard drive? If only one at the time, can you set up many different recording times, as long as they don't overlap? Can you watch a channel and record another channel at the same time? I guessing the channels would have to be on the same satellite. Thanks! Pat

RE: sources for antenna mast

I'm having a pipe installed off the back bumper with a vertical pipe with no bottom to it. I have on hand a painters extension handle (20'). I'll slide the handle down thru the pipe and the bottom of the handle will sit on the ground. I just need to figure out the ground plane attachment for the magnet antenna. Hope this is helpful! Pat

RE: Winegard Wingman - How does it work?

The Wingman® acts like a lens, focusing the signals. It doubles the signal power (3dB) delivered to the TV set. If the broadcast antenna is directly behind your rv and several miles away, which way should the Wingman be pointing for the strongest signal? I assume the pointer inside the rv is just to "park" the antenna for lowering to the flat position. Thanks for any help! Pat The Wingman® is on the "front" of the antenna and should be aimed at the station. For aiming info, I use The FCC's Website. Thank You! Pat

RE: Lake City from the south

If your trailer is "sized correctly" for your jeep, I don't think you will have any trouble at all. I made the drive 2 summers ago and did just fine. Never pulled a rv over a pass like Slumgullion. Going up from the south, the pavement got a little rough. There were a lot of pavement cracks across the road. Just slowed down to about 20-30 mph so that the me and the rig wasn't being shook up. Enjoyed the ride going up. Lots of curves! Going down from the pass, I was told some of the steepest grades would be about 10%. I put transmission in first gear and it held the rig very well. Once in awhile it might speed up slightly, slight tap of brakes would correct the speed. Also, going down, most curves are 20 to 25 mph curves. First gear was perfect. Just take your time. There is very little traffic and plenty of room for others to pass you. I arrived in Lake City with no hot brakes. Would do it again! No problem for me. My rig weighs right at 19,000lbs. While in Lake City, ask where to go to see Moose! Should be back up on the mtn. Hope this is helpful! Pat

RE: Lake City to Silverton or Ouray

The Alpine Loop is a single lane dirt road....At best... Very beautiful!!!!!! Whether you take the northern or southern route, there are some very rough parts. We rented a jeep, left Lake City about 7:30am, ate lunch in Silverton and returned to Lake City about 5:00pm. Also, We were told to use 4 wheel drive off pavement. If we had a flat, there is a good spare and jack. No service calls from the jeep rental place..... The motorcycles and atvs just sped by us. Afternoon, rain shower in upper elevations with sleet and cold... Did I say it was very beautiful? Pat

RE: TST TPMS 507 System and valve stem Question

I would go with metal. If one fails, you will lose your sensor and all the hassles of changing a tire. Then, start worrying which one will go next..... I have one of the TST systems and have had it for a couple of years. I am happy with it. Pat

RE: Sleek for mifi and Yagi Antenna

I bought a Digital Antenna's 18" marine antenna tuned for 4G signals and it has worked very well. I use it with a RF booster from SureCall. Last week I was camped in a valley where the Mifi worked fine on the top of the ridge but not at the campsite. I attached the Mifi to the booster which was connected to the antenna and I got "3 bars" which with 4G provides 100% of the available throughput from the tower. No need to aim the antenna as with a Yagi or parabolic grid (works better than Yagi in my own experience with both at home). The 18" antenna is mounted to a standard antenna holder that adjusts for tilt so most of the time the antenna is horizontal on the roof to avoid clearance problems. I got the 3-bars reception with the antenna in this position - no need to go up on the roof and tilt it to vertical. Thanks, wintersun Pat
