RE: Rockwood Roo 17 Floor Project

The rubber seal like it shows is about the normal way that it's done. If anyone has a better way please let us know.

RE: How does one seam seal a roof if you cant walk on it?

When I was 240 lbs. Jayco said I could walk on my roof carefully. After I hit 250 lb. they now tell me to put a good piece of plywood under me. I guess 10 lb. makes a difference.

RE: junky tires

I had Scorpions that came on my Expedition that I replaced with a set of Coopers at 50,000 miles, not because they wore out but because the bad weather traction was so bad and the side walls were too weak for towing. But to get back to a good set of trailer tires I don't think Scorpions come as a trailer tire all I've ever seen on them was automotive. Since the Marathons are now made in China I think I'll have to go with the Maxxis tire.

RE: Double trailer vs 2 vehicles

With a cuddy cruiser and a pop up your tongue weights are going to be so messed up I doubt that you'll be able to tow it safely. Think tractor trailers blowing this kind of set up around when they pass. I think your best bet would be a late model class C with the cuddy cruiser.

RE: junky tires

Get the better tires I've known of too many trailers that were severly damaged by cheap tires (wheel wells torn off inside damage, dinetts, beds any thing that is near a wheel well when the blown tire tears into it). As for Marathons I was lucky, I bought mine when they were made in the States, but everyone I see now is from China. Maybe i'm just paranoid but I don't buy anything from China that I can get elsewhere. By the way those blown tires I was talking about were all made in China. If you buy ST tires none of them are rated to run any faster than 65 m.p.h. Since most ST tires are made in China that might be why they come apart.

RE: Hot water question

If you have a hot water tank see if there is a waterline that runs around the tank if so you should have a couple of water valves that stop the flow to the tank so it can be drained for winterization. Our tank is under the dinette seat. Seems they hide them anywhere and everywhere. It looks like a block of styrofoam with hoses running in and out of it.

RE: Ground fault receptacle won't re-set

I wouldn't take the gfi off, one time I was messing with a water hose out by my pool and accidently shot a stream of water directly into the gfi, if it would of been a regular outlet I would hate to think of what would have happened. The gfi kicked out so fast that I didn't feel a thing, not even a tingle it didn't kick me at all. Don't chance it may not be you it gets but somebody else in the family.

RE: Hot water question

I hope you haven't been trying to use it on electric and the water is set to bypass the tank for winterization. If so the tank is empty and you burned out your electrode.

RE: Campfires: Love them or hate them?

If I didn't allow my family to start a small fire the wife and daughters wouldn't go. I don't care if it's a 100 degrees outside. They have to have smores and that is the only way they'll make them. They say the r.v.q. just don't seem to cut it for that.

RE: Ground fault receptacle won't re-set

Replace it if that don't work you've got a short. Then you'll know you have a bigger problem and that it's not just the gfi. They do go bad sometimes.

RE: Help with fridge not lighting

Sounds like that you are having the same trouble I had last year, try moving the electrode closer to the ground they have to be pretty close to ignite the small amount of gas that comes out of there.

RE: Newbie considering a Travel Trailer

An Areolite is just that a light weight trailer and Areolites are very light I doubt if the frame would hold up to putting a hitch on it and towing another trailer even a light one. I would suggest if you're really stuck on this idea get a heavier trailer Jayco Eagle maybe a Dutchman or something on that order. , something that don't have the name lite or lightweight on it. Are you certain your wife won't tow the jet skies? As light as they are I doubt that she would know they're back there then when you get to where you're going you can gabck them in. That's the way me and my wife do it with our boat and trailer. It's a whole lot safer.

RE: Battrery Box Issue - Jayco

I like the idea of black silicone to cover the vent holes in the lid. Although my battery tray is pretty well eaten up from my last battery leaking acid that ran out of the holes in the bottom of the box I may just fill all of the holes in or it would probably be better just to buy a new box.

RE: Buying new Jeep Wrangler for Toad

zeman-az thanks for the advice, a couple of years ago I took the cowling off and repaired the seal, it's better but in a real hard rain she'll still get some water on the floor board.

RE: Which Tire Takes The Most Punishment?

Since most TTs I see are setting slightly nose down I would think the front tires would get the most wear.

RE: Buying new Jeep Wrangler for Toad

My daughter has a 2000 Wrangler and in a heavy rain it will leak from the fresh air intake.
