RE: CA RV Show

Can someone tell me what KZ Spree models are at the show? We've been looking for the KZ brand, but the nearest dealer is over 250 miles away and the show is over 100 miles. So we are going if the 289KS, 245Ks, or 318BHS are there. Any info would be awesome.

RE: Just saw something SAD. Trailer flipped , child killed

My prayer's go out to the family. I can't even fathom losing my child. I often have to scold my 3 year old for taking off his seat belt while I'm driving. I have to pull over where safe to put it back on. Luckily the 7 year old is a tattle tell and I don't travel far without knowing. Who knows the actual circumstances, but tragic nonetheless.

RE: BEWARE OF PALM BEACH RV

I understand putting your customer's first, but I think it is a bad business decision. The waranty will be up in one year and the OP will continue to need work done to his trailer over the years. If the waranty work would have been taken care of I'm sure he'd continue to return as a customer; therefore, lost revenue. Yes, I do understand that the RV industry is having tough times, but keep as many customer's as you can. We bought our trailer out of state and had no trouble getting waranty work at home. They even asked us if we bought from them and we were honest. They always fixed everything in a timely fashion and were quite friendly with us. Yes, we con't to get our service from them once our waranty was over. We've moved so now do business with an indep RV repair facility.

RE: Are we crazy??!?

I'd go with a 8.1L Suburban if you can. We currently tow with a 1/2 ton at 6500 loaded with our truck. We do fine on the highway, but climbing we really notice it and how hard the truck is working. It does okay to fine, but I'm encouraging my husband to either buy a new truck or a lighter trailer even though we are well within our specs. I also do some driving and wasn't too excited with the towing with 15-20mph winds going to the Grand Canyon this year. We've had our trailer for over 4 years, so this isn't the first time we felt this. Now that our youngest is a little older and can tolerate longer trips we will be heading further from home and into steeper terrain. You will be able to tow it, but how well will the vehicle do with two growing girls with lots of stuff to bring. If your not traveling in the mountains this may be a mute point and stick with the 1/2 ton.

RE: how many don't argue

We don't argue about backing in. We have an agreement on what my terminology means, so he knows which way to turn to center the trailer. I always tell him which way I want the trailer to move and he adjusts the truck in that fashion. It has worked for us. He then returns the favor of guiding me when I have to back in the jet ski trailer into the water. I can't see a darn thing when the jet ski's are not on the trailer, but he guides me from the water and so far so good.

RE: Looking for a spot to park adjacent beach in So Cal. Ideas?

Dockweiler beach for me, but I don't mind the airplane noise. It is in El Segundo between Marina Del Rey and Manhattan Beach. You can here the waves as you sleep.

RE: Vegetarian Camping Main Dish

This is very noble of you to cook for them. This year we went camping with friends that only use organic ingredients and borderline vegetarian. I let her cook for her family and the rest of us continued on with our normal diets. If I'm cooking it's going to be something I like and not to accomodate someone's special diet. They can do that themselves. I can do vegetarian lasagna, 7 layer dip, and pasta with sauce. Again my hats off to you!

RE: Need help fixing hole in diamond plate on front of TT

Thanks guys for the info. We have also done this, but on a smaller scale. We put gorilla tape over it and it has held, but want a more permanent fix. I think we'll try the JB Weld. We were contemplating a welder, but the prices quoted were crazy.

RE: Camping at Pyramid Lake, California?

I called today because we also want to try something new and I was told that if I want to get in on a weekend I'd have to be there by 2am and they still couldn't guarantee I'd make it in. Apparently, they have a quota of 50 PWC on the lake. She said it is no problem during the weekdays. I think the nearest campground is called Los Alamos, but I know nothing about it other than that. I think I'll just stay close to home and go to Buena Vista.

RE: BEWARE OF SALES SCAM IN PORTLAND OREGON...UPDATED

Is Fleetwood only honoring MH or are they honoring all warranties including travel trailers, since dumping the line?

RE: single mom - need advice re: purchasing rv

For a first time trailer I would go with a pop up there are a lot out there that are within your budget and that the Xterra should be able to pull without too much difficulty(assuming it is a 2005 or newer). Our Xterra pulls two jet ski's on a double trailer loaded with gas and supplies without any difficulties. It is a 2007. It can be a pain in the but for wiring if you did not get the stock tow package. Let me know if you don't I got the wiring with all the relay's for relatively cheap online $75 vs $300 that the dealer wanted. I do recommend a pop up with at least a port a potty it is a long time between bedtime and dawn and I always hated making that trek to the bathroom with a flashlight. Also, make sure you get a heater found out the hard way when we borrowed a friends pop up without one and got snowed in at the Grand Canyon. It wasn't fun. The pop up will be easier to tow if you've never done it before. You'll be able to see better when your driving instead of relying on your mirrors. We also enjoyed the pop up because if we didn't back it in correctly we could just push it into position. Good luck with your search.

RE: Camping with babies...little babies.

My son camped when he was 4 months old. The only thing I would recommend is full hook ups. There was a lot of bottle washing, and bathing so tanks filled up quickly. Stay close within 2 hours as others have recommended. We brought the pack n play the first time and put him on the dinette, but we didn't like it. After that we just opened our jacknife sofa for him and he's never fallen off and now he's 3 years old and can't wait to go camping.

RE: traveling down I-5 So. Ca.

You'll probably want some hook ups if your coming in the summer. Last week it got up to 108 and the low's were in the 80's so not very refreshing. Keep that in mind if you plan on staying at the Flying J in Bakersfield vs Frazier Park.

RE: traveling down I-5 So. Ca.

If your coming off I5 I would stay at Buena Vista Lake assuming they have openings. It is off of Hwy 119 (Taft Hwy) and I5 and is 5 miles off the road. Most sites have full hook ups and office stays open until 10pm. It is a Kern County run park. All sites are pull thru's some are lake front all have trees, but some with more shade that others. Not too far off the hwy, so you can take off in the morning. There is a Shell station on the corner that offers the cheapest gas.

RE: Truck Campers and HOAs

Have the HOA give you the exact page number where the restriction is mentioned on the truck camper, so your mom can check her CC&R book. My old HOA sometimes made up there on rules and when you asked them for the exact location of the rule it then became because we've always done it that way. Well that didn't fly for me and even used there CC&R's against them when I sold my home. They did have power over the streets because it was a gated community that was privately owned and maintained by the HOA's.

RE: Can't Decide

We are looking at both models also. The difference we found is that the Outback weighs about 5800 lbs and the KZ iz 4700 lbs. The bunk beds are wider in the Outback 34 x 74 on both, but the KZ 36 x75 bottom, top 28 x75. The top bunk is almost claustrophobic feeling since it is so high to the ceiling. The dinette slide extends further in the Outback than the KZ leaving more room to walk with the Outback. The sink is on the outside of the bathroom on the KZ and inside on the Outback. Their is storage cabinets under the king slide by the sofa in the KZ and don't recall seeing any in the Outback. KZ 2 year warranty, Outback 1 year. These are the differences we found. We like the Outback more because it gives us more room to move around since we have 2 small children and I like the bunk sizes, BUT and it is a huge one is the weight of the Outback. The Outback is over 1000lbs heavier. Our big draw back is the KZ dealer is 250 miles away from us, but the Outback dealer is only 10 miles away and has been around forever.

RE: Jayco/Starcraft owners Roll Call

I think we are the only ones with a: 05 Jayco 27 Baja. Previous a '96 Jayco pop up (? 1406) can't remember the model number anymore, but it was a great trailer that's why we stayed with Jayco.

RE: Gas Mileage

Worst 7.4 mpg with strong crosswinds and husband doing 70 mph(thought he was Mario Andretti). Best 10.5-11mpg with little wind and driving around 60-65mph.

RE: Did they really do this?

I'd call and speak to management, so this doesn't happen to anyone else.
