RE: What Are The Upsides & Downsides To Driving A DRW Truck?

With a camper, there is no downside. Running empty you need to be aware you are a little wider, but I dive mine all the time in lots of traffic with no problems. Its the same sized truck as a 150, just has extra width at the rear fenders. Loaded, they will ride so much better than a SRW truck with any size camper.

RE: Replaced the table with reclining loveseat

By the way, we have a little buddy heater that runs on the small propane tanks for boondocking and needing a heater. It works really well, just have to turn it off when it gets to hot. The thermostat is hot and hotter.

RE: Replaced the table with reclining loveseat

Thanks for the comments: The heater was on when I picked up the camper new at the dealership. It has not been on since. We have been to Alaska and back and we have camped in the winter in the South. We use a very small portable Ceramic heater with a thermostat. Its only about 8" square and will run you out of the camper in a few moments. The central heater works fine, but is really noisy. The Fox is well insulated for a truck camper. Losing the large storage drawer was matter of putting the tools in the Truck (under back seat) throwing away some stuff we don't use, and putting everything else in a tool bag stowed behind the recliner. I can access this area and since the recliner sets about 5" from the wall and is slanted, I have used all that space. From outside I still store and access the 12" alum plates I use to set the jacks on, My ext AC cable, my extra Water hose, my wading shoes, all my extra handles for the awnings and slide, my long cable for cable tv,and other things. We have managed to locate the important stuff to another location. I actually like the way we have stuff stored now, better than before. We seemed to have all the area underneath the table piled full of stuff all the time, now we can't do that.

RE: Replaced the table with reclining loveseat

Well, I have rebooted eveything, will try again to post my last pictures. I added AC strips to both sides of the couch and am adding some storage shelves. We will wait to see about tables after a short trip. We are going to use trays for a start. Would I do it again? Absolutly....it is really nice to recline back and read or watch TV, or compute. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj267/boydpettitt/couch5.jpg http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj267/boydpettitt/th_campercouch009640x480.jpg

Replaced the table with reclining loveseat

I have almost finished the replacement of my dinnette with a Lazy Boy reclining loveseat. We had decided to either sell the TC and buy a B+, or modify the TC to where we could rest a little better when spending a week in one place. I decided to try this first and see how it goes. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj267/boydpettitt/th_couch1.jpg 1st. I removed the table and cshions and eveything loose. I then removed the right bench by removing all screws, lots of screws and some were hard to remove at the rear, if it is not loose, you still have screws. 2nd. I then removed the heater and central duct works, and removed the propane feed line, reqired the connectors. This takes a few hours, again the screws are numerous and some are difficult to remove. I had to sawzall some between the fridge and bench. I could have removed the fridge, but that seemed to time consuming. http://s274.photobucket.com/user/boydpettitt/media/couch2.jpg.html 3rd. I removed the overhead bunk, which had never been used. It did not weigh as much as I thought. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj267/boydpettitt/bth_couch3.jpg I found a nice leather Lazyboy on craigs list for $160. I think the Lazyboy is the only recliner which allows the back to be removed, which you must do in oreder to get it through the door. The lazy boy is a heavy unit. It takes 2 people and a little engineering to get it in and back together. Its a simple mantter of placing the couch where you can recline enough for the foot rest to come up. I have about 8 inches between the bath wall and my feet when reclined. Ok....photobucket is hung up....will shut all down and add last pics

RE: Lance truck campers TPO Nose construction

my wish would be for a 3500 lb camper with 3 slides....including the couch. Carbon Fiber maybe??? I say...if it cost over $40,000...it ought to be titanium and carbon fiber...

RE: Help with replacing table with recliner..fox811

thanks Jimh25. There is a wood enclosure around the Fridge and the seperation panel is attached to that. I have stopped and will call Artic Fox on Monday to get as much info as possible. We stopped by the factory in 2011 on our way back from Alaska, they were great people. Very willing to give us a complete tour even though we caught them doing inventory. I have not pulled the fridge yet, but may have to. I want that recliner awfully bad :)

Help with replacing table with recliner..fox811

I am replacing the dinette in my 811 Fox with a lazyboy reclining loveseat. I have sent Jim&Sue a note. I will also contact the factory on Mon, but thought I would ask here also. I have removed everything but the left seat frame. Looks like it may be mounted to the Refridge Cab with Glue. Anyone had a reason to know how the frame is attached to that wall. Thanks to the group.. Jeep

RE: 2011 Ram dually: best susp. setup, tie-downs & hitch exten?

I don't think you will need any suspension upgrades unless you have a really heavy tounge wt. Mine is bone stock and we pull a pontoon all the time. I do have dual trailer tires to lesson my tounge wt. I use factory Hitch which is pretty strong. My slide does drop the side a bit, don't hurt anything. I have never paid any attention to it.

RE: Front rack

I use straps to tie it back. I costs me about 1 mpg because of the aerodynamics of the box or bikes. We did Alaska a couple of years ago. You will be bounced like you won't believe, especially the Al-Can. Its kind like hitting speed bumps at Hwy speed. Just be aware this will be the case, and brace every thing for it. I built a pourch for mine and put Alum boxes on the porch for genny and fuel. Strap everything in your box down. Its the trip of a lifetime...enjoy

RE: Towing a boat

I do it all the time, but my pontoon is as wide as the camper. I have a camera at my hitch to help in backing up.

RE: Do I really need a Dually?

You will need a DRW, but...you might not need any addons. Try it out before you spend the money on additions.

Fox 811 add loveseat

Been looking at B+ Units for a while. Also looking at paid for Truck with 50K miles and Artic Fox 811. Really hate the dinette seats for resting. Purchased a Leather Lazyboy reclining loveseat off craigslist today. Do I or don't I. I know the removing heater..which we don't use. I like the 110 volt ceramic heaters better anyway. We don't spend the nights in below zero weather and I have a Honda 2000 if we need it. I know I will loose the storage drawer also, I can work around it. I do worry about the weight of the recliner, its heavier than what I can remove. I think it will be ok. I know this has been done before in larger Fox's, but I think the slides are about the same size. My back would like to have a more comfy angle in which to rest at night, especially if we are staying for a few days. Any good comments, good or bad. Thanks guys, your the best!

RE: Post your MPG in Diesels.

2006 Dodge Cummings 6.7, 4WD, 6 speed Auto, 50,000 miles. Empty interstate 70mph = 20 mpg hand calculated several times. Add Camper in my sig = 14mpg on 14k trip to Alaska and Canada anc back to GA. Add pontoon Boat with camper..12 mpg interstate. All around town driving...16 mpg average.

RE: I was right.....bought a DUALLY :)

I don't have any limitations on my dually. It fits in the garage. We have accomplished over 14k just this year with no parking problems. I set the camper off and use the truck in and around town with no problem. I cary my camper and pull a boat with no addons and factory tires. I don't worry about the problems I had with 2 single rears on my 2 previous 2 trucks...with differnt campers. I'm very happy and would never consider another SRW with a truck camper.

RE: Driving to Alaska

Last year about now, we were in Fairbanks. We were talking to the kids back home in Ga, and Va. They were sweltering in 90 Deg temps and it was in the 70's up there. Today, we are home and the Temp is around 105 deg. YUK!
