RE: Gas Pods for an RV to improve gas milage?

Actually coating your RV with snake oil might improve your mpg better than this product. The 1.3 mpg improvement claim has no reference, if the test vehicle was getting 39MPG this is a 3.3% improvement in mpg. at typical motor home mpg of around 7.5 mpg this would be a very impressive 17% increase. If that were possible every manufacturer would have them as factory installed equipment.

RE: Winnebago Bunkhouse A New Model

We had a 32K Sunstar for about 2-1/2 years, put 19k on it. Traded up to a 35J Sunova. Head and shoulders a better rig. Sadly they discontinued the 39N. There a number of BH models on the market, but I think that for the most part the Winnebagos are the better buy. I am hopeful that the markets will turn again.
I would opt for the BH model even if I didn't have our daughter traveling with us. I use our RV for sporting events with my friends and the bunks work well there and if that were to pass, I'd still get it as it gives me a place for a small shop or eve just additional storage.

RE: Camping at a CG that is only 20 miles away from our home

For several years now we have parked for a month at a CG that is only an hour away from home. I can stop in any night, but usually stay home Mon to Thursday nights, DW and DD stay at the CG Fri to Thurs, come home one day. It is a nice getaway.

RE: Mattress in Sunstar 35F

Well, we had a Sunstar 33k first and that mattress lasted ONE NIGHT. We came home and our daughter really wanted to sleep in the new camper so we camped in the driveway. Replaced that mattress with a WalMart memory foam one.
We replaced the whole rig with a 2009 Sunstar 35J, that will go into its 4th year now with the factory mattress. I am thinking of either a topper or a full foam mattress, but it is OK. We so have some sort of topper on it, a faux down thing my DW bought.
I would give the mattress a go.

RE: No wall behind sofa on 2009 Winnebago Vista

Your rig is a 32K? If so the large storage door on the passenger side opens up above the floor. We had one a few years back, Nice rig. My solution was to put a 'floor' or rather a shelf in at floor level that was accessible with the large door open but when closed, the lower compartment would be separated from the living space.

RE: E15 Gasoline may corrode your gas MH or toad

I can tell you that older mowers and other gas powered equipment doesn't do well with even E10. Had to replace fuel lines, filters and gaskets in most of my older equipment. Fuel lines rotted clean off! Especially bad in aircraft and marine use.
Also we get much worse fuel mileage.

RE: Heating While Driving

In our 35J there is an auxiliary heater in the rear. SO far it has kept us OK in cold weather. Not Frigid as in low teens or worse, but in the 20's were good. Wasn't out in colder (Yet)
In winter we keep the midship bulkhead door open to allow the heat to circulate through the entire rig, in Summer we close it up s that that dash air keeps us cool

RE: Winnebago/Itasca or Tiffin Allegro?

We are on our second Itasca. Currently we are in a 35J, 2009 MY and have about 19K on it. No real Winnie problems. DVD player acting up, convertor failed in a week, and I have a compartment light that leaks in really heavy rain.
The bunks are great for regular people, at 6-2 I don't fit, but then again I have the King in the rear. We did move the spare tire from the compartment to a rear carrier. I also added a storage pipe underneath for the dump hose. The spare tire compartment now has a collection of plastic bins in it that hold all our umbilicals except the dump.
Fiberglass roof is nice. Definite on the double pane windows. I couldn't care less if I had a bath and half, IT'S A CAMPER! We go to not be indoors. With three of us in the family and occasional friend we've never felt the need. I'd rather have the space for living.

With regards to EZPass and the Delaware Memorial, I've been told the same thing about the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission bridges between NJ and PA. On more reason I DON'T have EZPass.

RE: Is this possible?

Generally IF a triple is legal it will be a cab with a 5th wheel, a semi trailer and a full trailer. Towing two full trailers is not allowed.

RE: Camp Ground in or near Hershey/Lancaster PA

High Meadow isn't a bad place and it is close to the park. If traveling with kids I definitely suggest that you do breakfast with the Hersey characters and get an early admission.

RE: Camping with 2-1/2 year old...worry about nights?

SO tell me again why there are so few BH models out there? Most of the really nice A's are really set up for two adult people and occasional adult guests. I have a BH model and even if/when we upgrade or replace it will most likely be to another BH.
In your situation I suppose the best is either a gate around the dinette or split sleeping, one on the sofa, one in bed with the kiddie.

RE: Storing sewer hose in propane tank compartment

It never ceases to amaze me that a 10k travel trailer will have a storage spot for the hose, but a 100k MH doesn't!
I bought one of the hose tubes at CW and made up a set of saddles and bolted it under the frame behind the rear wheels, open the generator compartment door to access.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Changed the oil in the generator, began winterizing by flushing the tanks. Will complete the process tomorrow. Sad, we were supposed to go way this weekend, but Sandy trashed that so we are most likely done for the season. Next trip in about 5 months. Sadness.
Then again...

RE: If money were no object...

If money were no object, I'd have a rig that would sleep and live 6 adults. It would have range. It would have a large black and grey capacity, 100 gallons of fresh in two tanks. Large propane tank, interior floor safe for my toys. In motion satellite, two way HF radio, OAL 40 foot max, 450 or more HP, Air ride, ability to tow at least 10,000 pounds. Definitely a mounted spare and the means to change it. Ability to cook for 6 adults. Thinking 3 or 4 slides to accommodate the people. Probably a three tier bunk house that can be converted to a work space or closet. Solar panels to charge. 10k or better genset, I\A full size Queen bed, not a RV short.

RE: What did you do to your Class A MH today???

Not sure if this is the right place, but...
Arrived home in NJ from NC at 0230 Monday, lost power about 2100 Monday night. been using eh MH as a power and comfort station ever since. Not sure how much longer we'll be w/o power.
I should have refilled the water tank Monday and gone out to refill the gas tank as well, but who figured we'd be hit this hard. In 15 years in this house the longest we were without power was maybe 4 hours. We are now approaching 4 full days!
The moral of the story is, we as MH owners have the ability to survive so long as we take advantage of it. If bad weather is forecast, make sure the rig is FULL, you can always re-winterize. I am planning on adding a power tap so that I can plug into my home and power the well and the heat in the future. Even with that a full tank run at 1/2 load 1/2 the time should get me through nearly two weeks!
Hope the rest of you were as fortunate as we were, all we lost was a week and a few trees.
