RE: How to convert to LED lighting
So my question is::: I have heard people say that the regulated ones will produce interference. Is this on radio? TV? All electronics? A wise tale? or just special electronics like ham radio and such?
Thanks in advance. Don.
The interference is to ALL radio and TV receivers.
Aye, there's a thread somewhere in the TC forum from a year or so ago about a member there experimenting with capacitors to try and eliminate the noise that was being created.
RE: Trip report and need a little pep talk...
Rain and cold = Carharts and rubber rain gear to wear while fishing, or if there's space, setup an ez up awning by the water to stay dry under while your line soaks in the water. Propane radiant heaters to help keep ya warm.
Same deal outside, bring firewood that's good and dry, setup ez up awnings around fire pit, build giant fire, stay dry under awning while toasting smores.
Rain and cold is a daily life thing in Oregon most of the year.
Also, never go on a holiday, it'll almost always ruin the experience.
RE: Moldy interior of TT - disgusting!
Why would anyone store an RV with windows/vents open?
With our Florida fifth wheeler, we set out two large pails of DampRid,
numerous margarine tubs of kitty litter.
All openings are tightly shut.
Sits from April first until mid Oct,
never any sign of dampness or mould!
Aye, confused on that myself. I always buttoned her up tight and let the moisture absorbers control the interior air's moisture content as much as possible.
RE: Oh "Snap"
Those are some heavily rusted bolts, I replaced all the stock bolts for my set when I got it with grade 8s, been lucky to not have sheared one yet :).
RE: Is a generator necessary?
All depends on how you plan to travel. On my last 10,000 mile jaunt through 15 states across the northern and middle parts of the country, I used my generator every day to power the big power appliances in my rig and to recharge the batteries as I only stayed a short part of the time at campgrounds, the rest of it was at walmarts and truck stops.
RE: How do you handle Internet Services?
We run our business from the road, so we have to have consistent internet.
We use Verizon's MiFi. 4G service where available, 20GB/month for $59/month. Only one place over the last three years have we been disappointed with the service.
How did you get 20GB for $59
I have 5GB for $50!
I have Verizon MiFi 4G LTE
There's a few resellers that can give you better data bundle deals than verizon directly, I've noticed, but still use their network...
RE: How do you handle Internet Services?
Since I lucked out and have one of the grandfathered in unlimited data plans on my smart phone / hot spot, I usually use it if there's a Verizon data connection available for most of my internet needs, if not, then I will try to use the park's service, which has been hit or miss, even with the good powerful external wifi antenna I have.
RE: Looking for gamers (board games, RPGs, MMOs, miniatures)
Currently, running a game using Hero System Ed.5 w/the fantasy hero add-on, steampunk/victorian/roaring twenties world, also have a Japanese Anime-based campaign (two of them) using the Ani-Dai system, one is the classic college setting, the other uses Leiji Matsumoto's Galaxy railways as the basis for the campaign.
Online, I'm playing a private Ragnarok Online server called We are Online (formerly known as Deliverance Online), it's a very very old MMO and is free to play, the server group relies on people doing donations for a few extras in game to keep it running. Very small child friendly, no blood, no guts, 2D sprite characters running around in a 3d world.
If a few of the mods I'm using ever get updated for the newer versions of Minecraft, I'll likely port the giant industrial/railroad world I've been playing in Single player over to a server.
The misses and I are also participating in an SG-1/SG-Atlantis system campaign that is basically replaying the story of the Atlantis TV series if it had been basically an all military style operation, much like SG-1 was.
Eventually, I'm going to download WoW and see if it will play well with the network latency of the Verizon wireless network or if it will lag too much.
RE: FullTimers: how do you get your movies?
Usually, I buy them on Amazon.com, or at Fye or BuyBacks so I can get the DVDs cheap. For TV shows, I stream what I can on hulu via my VW unlimited data and hotspot, plus crunchyroll (Japanese programming), and eventually netflix if I ever get a subscription.
RE: Moldy interior of TT - disgusting!
Been using multiple of those giant DampRid buckets that are ready to go, simply remove the lid and leave in place.
If power is available, there's a little marine air dryer unit you can get that basically is a small heating element and a blower, ya basically stick it in your sink and leave it running.
RE: Washing clothes at a campground.
Usually, I end up at a local laundromat, as I normally have 6-8 large loads of laundry and its cheaper usually at the bigger in town laundromat than at the RV park, but not always, sometimes I come across a RV park with some good old top load washers and nice dryers for a good price.
RE: Mosquitos!
nothing worked this weekend. Nothing. We went through i don't know how many cans of bug spray. We sat in front of fans. We moved away from the fans and tried the little clip on "off" things. We had close to 20 torches going between the 3 campsites. We fogged. Oh my word, we got bit up so bad. The kids are all itching and whining today. We toughed it out, but the bugs made it really rough. They were out in full force all day long.
Soaking the kids in various relief lotions and sending them to school with lots of bug bites tomorrow:(
For the big ones, you can't use less than a 40% concentration of Deet, the 25% mixtures in 'Deep Woods' off won't do jack and squat, especially against the Asian buggers.
RE: Swing bracket install help
Why not simply put some blocks, saw horses, etc... under the camper if it's already off to support it, then remove the front jacks, install the swingaway brackets, and then reinstall the jacks?
RE: What Would You Do?
If you want to stay with Ford, go with an older Ford with the 7.3L Diesel vs the 6.0, while nothing's perfect, the 7.3L was their last well known dependable series. The 6.0 line had nothing but problems and that which came after are still fairly young technologically.
RE: Where Have You Taken Your 4x4 Dually Pickup & TC OffRoad
Let's see.... bunch of USFS campgrounds in the Cascade mountains, drove it through the National Bison Range in it's entirety in Montana, whole lot of hair pin turns and steep steep grades, lot of 2-lo climbing there :).
RE: Where are all the Truck Campers ?
They are all on my side of the country, lots out at the Oregon Coast this past weekend and we were one of them....
Yeah, that pretty much sums up what I said a while ago. :)
Where are all the Truck Campers? Over where there's lots of public lands :).
RE: 1972 Amerigo Camper Rebuild
I was wondering what was everone planning for the long weekend.
Weather permitting I will be making my first trip out on the beach.
Bob W.
Sit tight, pay down bills and save up for a 5th wheel to add to the fleet :).
RE: Insayn's 2013 road trip prep.
Hey Craig,
I didn't see Michigan on that list...
Yeah, not this year. In the future when the kids are off and running their own lives, I would like to hit some of the north eastern states and catch the fall colors.
I've been all over OR, WA, ID, CA, NV, AZ, UT, CO, WY, (not really interested in NM. Been to parts of FL, TX, NE, SD, and MT.
So this year we are hitting more of the mid and lower south east.
Totally looking forward to the sweltering heat and bugs! :E
I can tell you from having just done that last year, that those colors are awesome, nothing in the NW looks near as eye popping as Wisconsin and the UP in Fall.
RE: Ever See One of These?
If I had found one in good shape back when I was camper hunting, I'd never have needed the dually rear end I put on my truck :p.
