RE: Shame on me

Name the companies that you had the problems with so others can avoid them.
I would like to very much; but the way they sue everyone these days; I can't ----but there is only two RV repair places near Clearwater Florida; and I;ve been to both; hope that helps.
There are a whole lot more than 2 RV repair shops in this area.... without names, you are exposing the rest of this community to the same treatment.

RE: ST LUCIE SOUTH COE ,FL - site info ???

Thanks for the input--- I was surprised to find that sites 2,3,5,6,8 were all available for the date I wanted. Will be a good stopping point on the way to the keys

RE: Tampa

If you NEED to be down town in Tampa then The Camp Nebraska is the place. We stayed there a couple years ago for two days while we attended to some business and found it to be an interesting place. The Camp Ground Reviews are correct so far as location but we did not have a bit of trouble being there.
Made the point of visiting the neighbors when we checked in and there were a couple folks that watched our unit for us while we were away.A couple bottles of Wine buys a lot of protection in a neighborhood like Nebraska Ave.
I would not hesitate to go back again if it was a must be downtown call. It sure is not a resort or destination but it had decent electric and services, and as noted, cheap security.
That area (Nebraska Ave) is well known for it's prostitutes, druggies and homeless. Not a place I would go

ST LUCIE SOUTH COE ,FL - site info ???

I was thinking about stopping at the COE park at St Lucie on the way to the keys in a couple of weeks but noticed that the available waterfront sites had a note saying tents were not allowed as the site was too steep. We are in a 37 ft Class A, but I was wondering if the sites are too steep to properly level ??? Any advice from recent experience would be appreciated.

RE: Gas engines - who has the highest mileage?

My old Class A MH ( 1978 with 454) had over 200K miles on the original engine when I sold it... last I know ( about 3 years ago) it was still going strong.

RE: Best time and place to snorkel in the Florida Keys?

THere is really good snorkeling at Looe Key..... Bahia Honda has a boat trip out there. Another good place to tent camp is Big Pine Fishing Lodge and take the Looe Key boat out of Looe Key Dive Center just down the road

RE: squealing fan belt on ford v10 in class a bounder

On my 1999 v-10 , the bearing in the tensioner started to fail and squealed once I got to about 55 mph. Replaced the tensioner and that took care of it.

RE: Salt Springs, FL - reservations cancelled

For what it's worth-- I just called and they said it wouldn't open for at least 4-6 weeks..... 2 full summers wasted to put in a sidewalk and railings..... doesn't say much for the efficiency and effectiveness of the Forest Service/ Dept of Agriculture
( On July 1, they said it would open by September !)

RE: St Augustine Fl

For the last 5 years we have stayed at Bryn Mawr in St. Augustine and loved the beach! After reading all your posts and looking at north beach on rvparkreviews.com I am considering trying to book a couple of weeks at north beach this coming February.
Is the beach as nice as it is at Bryn Mawr? Is it a dog friendly beach? Is that section of A1A busy to cross to get to the water? The best part of Bryn Mawr is its proximity to the beach and easy access.
JT
The beach there is very nice, traffic on A1A is not bad at all, easy to cross, dogs are welcome on the beach

RE: weight distribution adding motorcycle carrier

For what it's worth... I made a carrier for the front of our old 1978 P30 MH and carried a HD on the Front for several years and multiple cross country trips. I did have to add a set of additional headlights as the bike blocked the stock headlights. I really didn't have any problems with bugs and never had an overheating problem with that old 454. I would think with the DP, it wouldbea good setup with the bikeup front

RE: Salt Springs, FL - reservations cancelled

Salt Springs is a great place, but is terribly mismanaged. They have had the spring closed for a year and a half while doing some basic renovation that would take a few weeks, at most, by a private sector organization.
Susan Jeheber-Matthews is the Forest Supervisor in charge of Salt Springs. Her address is 325 John Knox Road, Suite F-100,Tallahassee, FL 32303 or call her at 850-523-8500 to express your concerns and issues.
JoeH the vendor running the CG actually does a decent job, it is our illustrious Federal Govt (that you have pointed out) that is behind this monumental boondoggle that has been going on for 18 months. When you consider who the congresswoman is for this area it all becomes quite clear. E Mails to her concerning this issue are never returned, hopefully we can see that she doesn't return also.
You are correct, I agree that the vendor is going OK, but the overall mgmt of the place ( Dept of Agriculture) stinks.

RE: Dual Tire Inflators (valve extensions)

You might want to look into these valve extenders there better then the braided kind. They won't leak. Link
Yep- I recommend the Borg valve's . I had a braided extension leak and lost a tire. Thankfully I caught it before it wrecked any body work, but I still was out the cost of a tire . The Borg's are expensive but not in relation to the cost of a tire and/or body damage

RE: temperature gauge on ford v-10 gas

The V-10 Temperature guage is just an idiot light and always has been. They made it look like a real guage because they thought that was what people wanted. That is why they don't move. The only way to know your real temperature is with something like Scanguage. You can then watch your temperature go up but the so called guage on the dash never moves.
The guage on my 1999 V-10 does indeed move ( I also have the scanguage) as the temperature rises- that's how I caught a situation with the pressure cap as mentioned below, before I had the scanguage .
Besides the fan clutch possibly not engaging, also check the fill cap on the coolant resevoir. It is a pressure cap and on mine, I had a slight crack in it that caused it to loose pressure and as a result run hotter than normal.

RE: bar harbor / acadia area

We were up there a few weeks ago-- you shouldn't have any probems in geting around. As mentioned,in Bar Harbor, you'll need to hunt around for a parking spot, but it's not a big deal as the town is pretty well contained.

We were in site 25 at Blue Spring a couple of months ago. Plenty of room for our 36 ft MH and toad with room to spare.
