RE: 5th wheeler on BlueRidge Parkway

There are some low tunnels as you approached the Great Smoky Mountains. The heights are 11'1", ll'3, and 10'6". All are just south of highway 19, pass mile marker 455, and are shown on the Blue Ridge Parkway map. I am going up Friday and don't expect much problem with the campsites as it will be a little colder then nornal this year which usually means empty campgrounds. Please note that the campgrounds are usually closed by the end of October. The main Smoky Mountain camkgrounds will be open later (i.e. Smokemont & Elkmont). The three main campgound were full on Friday night (Elkmont, Smokemont, and Cades Cove) I had to stay at Deep Creek campground. In hind site, I guess I have always stayed in the smokies on Monday or Tuesday. I hope I did't mess anyone up. I also learned the the blue ridge parkway is closed between Mt. Pisgah and Asheville because of a landside.

RE: firestone air springs

I have them installed on my '03 2500 $x4 and on my last trip with close to a max. load, I didn't realize for about 3 days that I had forgotton to air them up. Not sure that I need them, but I will air them up the next time. Mine do have a tendency to lost the min. 8 psi that is recommended for non loaded conditions. Why don't you load up and see if your rig is level before you installed them. You might need better shocks more.

RE: Exclusive Cardinal or Big Horn????

With Big Horns doing relatively well, I suspect Cardinal doesn't want to head to head on the same lot.

RE: Filling Propane

I thought the new requirements for propane bottles was a float level so you cann't overfill. If so, the problem getting them filled in place is getting the trailer close enought to the supply tank.

RE: How Long Does It Take An Empty Fridge To Cool Down ??

In my experience the 12v heater is much slower than both the gas and 120v heaters. I only use the 12v heater when I am in the back country because the gas flame will go out on rough roads. I turn the gas back on as soon as I stop for the night.

RE: cougar 27sab generator for air conditioner

My Yamaha 2800 will run my 13,500 btu A/C but I don't know what maximum elevation it will continue to do so. What size A/C do you have and what is the highest elevation that you plan to use it. The 2800 is a little louder the the 2400 but still not loud. There is a new, larger inverter Yamaha that will meet most requirements and is very quiet.

RE: Don't Understand Pin Weight

That is the weight that the camper puts on your truck, that is, from the camper pin onto your truck bed. I expect your biggest concern will be the towing capacity of your 6L engine not the pin weight.

RE: small generator

Hook your outside power cord to it.

RE: Big Horn vs Montana

When I looked into them a few years ago, the Montana wasn't warranted for full timing and the Big Horn was (althought they didn't advertise it). Goes to build and quality.

RE: Solar Power

In general about 100+ watts per 100 amp-hr of batteries. But your requirements will vary depending on your usage and amount of sun hitting the panel per day. For instance summer vs. winter.

RE: Can't run both furnaces at the same time.

I think it may be insufficint gas to run both furnaces also. Perhaps the reducing valve can deliver enought for both.

RE: Wireless Backup Camera System...

I have never seen a good report with a trailer. Too far to transmit.
