Tiffin has that plan in several of their rigs. Check out Tiffinmotorhomes.com

RE: Seat Belts

I have used this arrangement for a couple of dogs. Get a good, sturdy brand and it is an excellent way to travel.

RE: Preparation for First Alaska Trip

First, once you get to Yukon Territory, you will not travel as fast so will not go as far in a day. You will be slowed somewhat by frost heaves, and you will not want to miss the sights/animals/etc. Any road construction will slow you, too. So, no, do not plan to make a certain destination each day. If you will stop early - by 3 PM at least, you will probably be able to get a cg site. But, you are allowed to stop overnight at just about anywhere you can fit our rig in such as widened roadside areas, beside rivers, and some businesses, if they have enough room - just ask. A few businesses even have a couple of hookups for overnighters.

RE: Peeing issue with our cat!

How old is the cat? Our cat started doing that about the time she also began developing some other age related issues. She was only about 12 yrs old when I reluctantly had to assist her on her way to the Rainbow Bridge.

RE: camping with cats

Unless the cg asks the specific question (and I have never been asked about cats), just don't mention the cats. They don't go outside so they do not affect anything in the cg.

RE: Cross-country with our two elder kitties. Suggestions?

They will get enough water if you will offer it at each stop during the day and at overnight stay. If they are not accustomed to traveling, you might want to start now to introduce them to the idea. Start with a very short trip around the naborhood, (in the crates), reward them when they get out at home and gradually make the trips longer until the cats are comfortable.

RE: Dumb question about keys...

Any locksmith should be able to do it. You might be able to have one copied at Lowes, Home Depot or your local hardware store.

RE: Alaska via boat or RV?

You would get to see a smaller portion of AK w/cruise/train trip but, having one the all-RV trip, I think I would vote for this option, specially since you are full-timers. Would be a nice break for you! Don't get me wrong, we are very happy that we did the RV style trip but you have done the west coast apparently and don't seem to want to repeat that so....

RE: To unhook or not

No - just shop until you find a station you can get into/out of. Flying Js usually have RV pumps in front with room to maneuver.

RE: Side curtain hold down - a problem

Lovely folks at Anthony TX CW in our experience. A year ago, we happened to stop for overnight at the TX welcome center almost across the road from the CW on a Sunday afternoon. On a whim, I called to see if they happened to have a Splendide in stock and how soon they could install it if they did. They did, made an appt for 8:30 the next day and called at 7:30 to say they had a cancellation if we wanted to come on in. We did that and then added a few other odd things that needed done. Then added a couple more at their suggestion. Long story short, we spent the entire day there. Our only complaint was that they did not have a very comfortable space to wait. All of the staff were great!

RE: evansville IN

Only 4-5 miles south on Hwy 41 in Henderson KY is Audubon State Park. Very handy access to the south & east sides of EVV. Easy to get to the west/north side, too. Small older cg, lots of shade trees, paved sites, dump station, nice shower house. Almost in my back yard - if I can help further, PM me.

RE: If you were to write a camping etiquette book ...

Keep the volume down - on your TV, radio, and any other noise making devices. Noise pollution is very disruptive to others. And this includes conversations after 10 PM.

RE: Questions about Splendide Washer/Dryer

The washer fills to suit the amount of clothes in it. Low water pressure will not affect it. Sometimes it will fill, rotate a ciuple of times and then fill some more - this is normal.
