RE: Direct TV on Demand via Wi-Fi

I have had Directv on Demand for some time using an aircard and a Cradlepoint CTR350 wireless router. It is a simple matter to get it working, just plug a short CAT5 cable from the RJ45 on the CTR350 to the RJ45 on your HDDVR. The HDDVR does the rest pretty much automatically. You just have to keep an eye on your monthly useage.

RE: Small printer

I have had an HP450 for several years. It works very well AC or Battery. I have not bee using it nearly as much since I discovered Print to PDF. I use PDF995 and like it quite well. I have tried several of the available programs and they all work good, but I use PDF995 because it produces a smaller PDF file than the others. This would not normally be a problem but I print a large monthly newsletter (12 pages with color) to PDF for posting on our Elks website and I want to keep the file under 2MB. Microsoft Office/Word will also produce a PDF for those that have it.

RE: Using air card for desk top also?

For those of you that think you have unlimited, I would suggest careful reading of your agreement. I don't think there is one now that doesn't have a 5GB limit. That is a lot of download activity and under even normal to heavy use will still be plenty. But if you decide to try downloading movies as are now offered from Netflix and Blockbuster I suspect you had better keep a close eye on usage because they really nail you with over use charges.

I dropped Avast a few weeks ago and installed Microsft Security Essentials. It seems to be working just fine.

RE: Installing a Ham Radio Antenna Screwdriver type

I have High Sierra, was mounted on the rear bumper but too much RF in the MH so took it off. Now only use 2M and 440. Would like to get rid of the High Sierra but not going to give it away.

RE: bugs in toilet???

I had the same thing a while back when we were in a grass covered storage yard. I finally solved the problem by removing the cap on the roof vent and placing a rather fine bug screen over the end of the vent pipe then replaced the cap over it. No more little bugs.

RE: Who Ordered Windows 7

What I am hearing is that the pricing is going to stop a lot of people. A single copy is $120 while a 3 PC package is $150 and Student package is $30. Seems like MS has done this to allow retailers to bundle other products. I think the best idea for now is the 3 pack and find 2 other friends to share with.

RE: Deleting data from a hard drive

Yes sir, me to. My first computer was an IBM RAMAC 305 with a 350 Disk Drive which consisted of 50 disks 30 inches in diameter stacked about 36 inches high. It held 5 million characters, that was way before bytes. When you look back at it you can't help but be amazed at how things progressed so rapidly from the 1950s to now.

RE: Best Flat-Panel TV for Motorhome

When buying small LCD (19" - 32") be sure to listen to the sound before you buy it. Some brands/models have terrible sound quality especially in the smaller ones.

RE: Onan 4.0 starting problem.

My Onan 4.0 has trouble starting or rather cranking but if I start the coach engine the generator starts right up. Think it must be poor connection to battery.

RE: AVG update problem

After several years of AVG, I finally un-installed 8.0 and installed AVAST. It is quicker, updates everyday, and just seems to be less of a problem. Are you using Vista or XP OS? I tried using AVAST when I got my 1st Vista OS and had way to many conflicts. Hopefully it is now working with Vista.
I have 1 Laptop running XP and another running Vista. Also a Dell desktop running XP. Reason I switched was because AVG was getting slower (using more resources) with each update and I was just looking to speed things up a bit. It works for me.
