RE: Kentucky Bound

You could take a tour of the Toyota plant in Georgetown. Old State Capitol is interesting and there is a museum in Frankfort. Could go over to Bardstown. Tours of old home and Maker's Mark.

Stone Mountain information

Can anyone tell me what loops have the most level sites. Also, does anyone know of any tour groups that pick you up at the cg and take you downtown to Atlanta. Is it safe to leave your car at the train station and go downtown that way. Did you think the coke museum was worth it. What about the CNN tour? How are the Botantical Gardens? Saw where there is now a special viewing area for the laser show at night. When we were there last time, we just sat on the hill. Is it worth paying to sit in the VIP viewing area? Can you still take a showboat ride or has that ended? I saw where they now have "The ducks". Where do the "ducks" take you? Is there still a car museum, didn't see any info on that. Any information you can provide would be appreciated. We were there several years ago and it seems that a lot has changed since then. We would like to go downtown, haven't ever been, but not crazy about driving down there and want to know what the best way to get there is. Went on their website, but couldn't find my answers. Will call there, but wanted to see if anyone here could offer any advice before I called. Thanks in advance.

RE: x-chock Tire Locking Chock

We just purchased the X chocks on Amazon 2/$73.00. If you sign up for a credit card, they take $50.00 off. We used them this weekend. I think they help, but we still have the bouncing. Now considering a tripod. We didn't have any problem in our TT with movement, so we are still trying to figure this movement problem out.

RE: Picking up new Cougar 333MKS 5th wheel tomorrow

I would suggest airing it out with fans and baking soda for the whole week before you go. Our cougar had a terrible smell when we picked it up. Gave me terrible headaches. I hope you aren't as sensitive as me. Took us a full four weeks of airing before we could use it. We also were surprised how much more movement there is in a fifth wheel than our TT. You may want to consider X chocks and king pin stabelizer if sway bothers you. Hope you enjoy your new rig.

Maggie Valley N.C.

Thinking about taking a trip to Maggie Valley. What cg would you recommend? We like to keep busy site seeing, museums, etc. What all is there to do there. We know about the 'Wheels" museum and the Smokey Mountains. could you tell us about other things to do in the area. thanks

RE: Beaver Lake AR/Table Rock MO area

Compton Ridge is nice and has a motel next to it. It has an indoor pool, play area, but not by the water. Have you looked into Table Rock State park. Right on the water. some of the sites are close though. there are also a few COE parks in that area that are nice and near the water.

RE: Buck Creek or John Bryant State Parks near Dayton OH?

We have stayed at John Bryant and thought it was a very nice place. There is a nice gorge with hiking trails nearby. Many people like eating at the Mill restaurant. Some of the biggest pancakes you have ever seen! Nice, quiet cg to relax. Sites are spread out nicely. You might enjoy day trips to Newport on the Levee or the aquarium on the Ky. side. Cincinnati has a wonderful zoo and many great museums. If you like theater, you can find all kinds of shows to attend. Never been to Duck Creek. In fact, I had never heard of it.

RE: Newbie headed to Nashville

I would suggest staying at the Jellystone cg on Music Valley Road. We have stayed there many times. They had lots of kids activities going on there when we were there. Most activities in that area really aren't geared for young children. We did take our son, when he was young, to the Opryland Hotel. He loved walking on all the paths in the gardens, took the little boat ride, and enjoyed watching the water/light show. They have several casual eating places that I think your kids would enjoy. There is a family restaurant on Music Valley Road called "John A's" that we like to eat at. It has live music on the weekend. I don't know if they have anyone performing during the week. You could check it out. Your children would be welcomed there. Hope you enjoy your stay. Jellystone might be a few more dollars, but has more activities for kids.

RE: Brand new to this, have a lot of questions

A few of my thoughts... why didn't you ever use your pop up? Were you both working and couldn't find the time to use it or were there other reasons you should be thinking about now. You stated you are going to start a business. Will you have time to travel if you are starting up a business or is this something you can do on the road? You mentioned you are tired of paying for hotels. If you have to buy a tow vehicle and rv, I don't think you are really going to save money. I think rving is a way of traveling, people prefer. I don't think it usually is cheaper unless you are tent camping or maybe using a pop up. It sounds like you are going to have to rent some type of storage unit to store all your present furniture, etc. You are definitely going to want two or three slides. We stayed in a TT with no slides for three months. We did fine, but it starts to get close after a week or two. Also, be aware that not all slides are the same depth, something I wasn't aware of in the beginning. I would definitely be looking at size of refrigerator, size of closets, and comfort of furniture. Don't assume that all fifth wheels have more closet/cabinet storage. Our sunnybrook TT had more hanging space than a lot of new 5th wheels we have looked at. It also had more inside cabinet space than some. You usually gain a lot of storage space underneath your 5th wheel as compared to a TT. We just sold our 2001 Sunnybrook TT which was still in excellent condition but had no slides. Only reason we sold it was to gain more living space. The quality of materials in our Sunnybrook was far better than a lot of rv's we have looked at recently. I wouldn't rule out the Sunnybrook, but it is hard to give advice on that when we have no idea what condition the unit is in and how well it was maintained. If you already have a tow vehicle, I would be trying to find something that you could pull with that. If you decide this is a life style you enjoy, you can always trade up later to something you prefer. You will know after a year what you really like and don't like in an RV. I don't think I would want to invest in a new RV and new tow vehicle when I wasn't sure I was even going to like that way of life. Remember, you will be going to the laundry each week. Some people like to have their own washer/dryer. It does take up a lot of storage space if you have it in your unit. It is my understanding from people I have talked to that the washer/dryers in the rigs are very small and are great for small/emergency loads, but most people don't seem to really use theirs all the time and still go to the laundry. Something to think about. We love the life style, but it is not for everyone. If you like hanging out at the bars in hotels, going to the spas, or retreating to other rooms in a condo, this may not be the life style you will enjoy. If you like sitting outside, wandering around the cg, talking to other people who travel, relaxing, then it might be for you. Good luck in your decisions.

RE: Camping in Berlin Ohio

Another option is Ruth's Amish cg in winesburg. We have stayed there six or seven times. It has a very clean bathhouse. Really nice people. They often have Amish selling bake goods. A more quaint small cg if that appeals to you. Low prices.

RE: Eliminating new trailer smell?

Thanks for all the ideas so far. One question ... if you turn the heat up for an extended time, dont you have to worry about burning your furnace up? We are airing out every day and using the baking soda intended just for smells, but don't think it is helping much. Called the dealer, but they really didn't have any other ideas. Getting frustrated as we would like to head out, but don't think I can handle the smell as it is. Going to try calling the manufacturer to see if they can help.

Eliminating new trailer smell?

Can anyone give me any ideas how to eliminate that new trailer smell? We continue to air it out every day, using fans, and have tried using a scented candle, but it doesn't seem to be helping much. I must be very sensitive to the smell as it is giving me a bad headache every time I go inside.

RE: Roof load limit

Never heard of not cleaning your roof. We always thought we were suppose to. Thought the manual instructed us to. Sealer says to get sap, mildew etc. off before sealing it ... or were we not suppose to seal it either? Did it for the 12 years we owned it and never had a bit of trouble with the roof. Still looked great and in great shape when we just sold it. It even survived a terrible hail storm! Do you all seal your roof?

Brands of Diesel fuel?

When we purchased our diesel truck, our salesman told us to only get fuel at Shell, BP or Sunoco. He said to stay away from Kroger/Walmart or off brand gas stations. Said it didn't matter with a car, but had to be more picky with a diesel truck. Is there any truth to this? How can a person know what brands have the better quality fuel?

Need to carry a ladder?

Do you think it is necessary to carry a ladder if you don't have one already attached? Not fulltiming, but will need to clean top of slides. Will small step ladder be enough?

New chocks and new leveling boards ??

Was just wondering what type of chocks you all thought were best and why. Also, were looking at the plastic leveling boards and wondered what the plus and minus is to these as compared to using wooden boards. Thanks for all opinions.

RE: ARRRGGG!!!!!!!

Have no experience with this issue, don't even have our 5th yet, but according to our directions that came with our new Reese Pro, you are suppose to leave the landing gear all the way down on the ground before taking your test pull.
