RE: traveling with cats

I agree with the others. They are the safest in the cab with you, but only if you keep them in carriers. They'll settle down after a while. Take them back to the trailer occasionally to use the kitty pan and get a drink (although they probably won't). Be sure to keep them in their cages until the slides go in and out. Crushed kitties would not be a good thing.

RE: leveling and slide out

Our Monaco book says to extend the slides first, with the coach still aired up, then dump air and level. Go by what your manufacturer says. I don't understand it, but I do as I'm told. :)

Issues with Thousand Trails online reservations??

We have had a zone pass through Thousand Trails for a few years. We also have a Max Pass allowing an additional 6 parks in Florida. We've been pretty happy with them, but lately I have been unable to make a reservation at most of the campgrounds that I've tried. I sent an email to customer service and they said they are updating their computer system. Now, three weeks later, I still have the same problems. Anybody else having an issue making an online reservation???

RE: If I Hired a Raw-Food Apprentice....

I think a lot of people would "work camp" on your property and bring in their own rv to live in. Depending on the amount of work they would have to do, you might have to pay them a wage. A lot of people work camp for just the price of the "site." It's all negotiable. Personally, I might enjoy spending a summer on a 100 acre farm, and I think you'll find others who will as well.

RE: eternabond tape

We removed the old caulk in places and in other places we just taped over it. I don't think it matters much, but might look a little better if you remove the old caulk.

RE: Tire Pressure Monitor

We have the Truck System Technology system. (TST) We like it, but we've had to send the monitors back numerous times. They have usually replaced them at no charge, but it's a pain. The newer ones have user replaceable batteries and that's what I'd get the next time.

RE: Vehicle mounted vs Motorhome mounted tow bar

We've had both. The one that was mounted to the vehicle was first, because we were new and didn't know any better. We very much prefer the hitch mounted to the motor home. It's easier to hook up, it looks better and there is no chance of damaging it if we should have an accident in the toad. We bought a Blue Ox last summer and have been real happy with it. Not cheap, but it's a one time purchase. The brackets are hidden and looks so much better

RE: slideout won't budge.

We had the same problem. DH and a friend manually retracted the slide. Then for some reason the slide started working on again. Worth a try.

RE: Driving with air conditioner

We usually run the house air. I don't think it costs that much more and it's worth it.

RE: blown tire collision or comprehensive

I used to be a claim adjuster and I would have definitely coded this as a comp claim. You should fight it because a collision claim can increase your premiums. Get a supervisor.

RE: BEST gps

We bought the Garmin truckers Gps and like it fine, however they all can give you wrong directions. We are able to program the size, length and height of our Mh and hopefully it will keep us off the roads we shouldn't go on. I think the one we have is the Dezl 560 LMT. It has a feature where you can pull up truck stops so stopping for fuel it a bit easier.

RE: Newbies looking for a good vacation spot for this summer

Congratulations. I'm not familiar with the area near you, but there are a lot of Rv blogs out there (including mine) and you can find some of them on Hitch Itch.com, or just do a Google search. Many full time rv'ers write blogs of their travels and it's a good place to learn where to go. When I find something interesting, I notate it on Pinterest for future travels. One particularly informative blog is Rv Dreams They have a campground review site where you can go and get some good ideas. You may not be able to get into a National Park, but most of them have other campsites nearby. Corp of Engineers are a good place to look. Rv Dreams also has a link to help you find where to look for campsites. Enjoy your summer.

RE: Ready to Pull the Trigger on a Used Diesel Pusher

Lazy Days has a nice website where you can get pictures of their inventory, both new and used. I recall a few years ago seeing a lot of units with bunks and wondering how popular they would be. The problem with their website is they don't post prices and you might have trouble getting anyone to respond back to you. At least that was our experience 2 years ago when we were looking. We finally hooked up with salesman named Keith Brahier and he helped us a lot on our internet search. We ended up buying a used DP from LD and got great service. Good luck Some of those bunk models will be a few years old by now and might be just what you're looking for. Karen Lueck

RE: Warning Regarding Extended Service Plan

I would be interested to read the "exclusions". I'll bet if you read your exclusions you'll find something that would explain their denial. I also agree this is a maintenance problem more than mechanical breakdown. That's not to say it was your neglect, but the issue with the ethanol gas. We learned a while back to use non ethanol gas for our lawn mowers, boat motors and small engines. It's hard to find and with a motorhome, probably impossible to do. Another unintended consequence of ethanol gas. BTW...we're dealing with the bio-diesel unintended consequences as well. Good luck, but read the exclusions.

RE: TT on Blue Ridge Parkway and Skyline Drive??

We have a large MH, and park it in the foothills and drive the car on the Blue Ridge. There aren't a lot of places for fuel unless you get off and drive a long way.
