RE: Flooring upgrade...

I was going to go with that Allure product, but living in Ontario Canada, I was told it won't take the cold and fluctuating temps while it sits for the winter in storage.

RE: Repairing Levelers

I had my local hydraulic shop repair mine. The local garage I use for oil changes and such was able to remove it and replace it for me. They charged me $100.00 at the hydraulic shop to rebuild it, and the garage charged me $50 to take it off and $100.00 to put it back on.. I am happy.

Are there any good boon docking spots around Georgian Bay?

I am looking for some short distance trips no more that 100 miles from Midland Ontario, along either the East or West shores of Georgian Bay. Just some place nice to get away for an afternoon, stay overnight and then return home the next day. Any ideas?
Thanks. Bill

Water pump shuts off for several minutes then restarts??

What is going on? I open my tap at the sink, or other locations and the water flows steady till it slows to a drizzle and then stops. I shut off the tap and go and sit down for a few minutes and then I hear the pump coming on and pressurizing the system. I can then get water at the taps again till the flow slows down to a trickle and stops again. This repeats till I can get enough water in the sink to wash the dishes. I sure can't take a shower under these conditions. Has this happened to you and do you know the fix? I am ready to buy a new pump and hope it works properly.

RE: Rear air bags ... What psi should they be

Going out to take the photo, it became very evident that the plaque tells me more than I first thought. On the plaque it says "equipped with Ride Rite Helper Springs" Firestone FSN-21-9015

RE: Rear air bags ... What psi should they be

There is a little plaque with the warning about not going below the minimum air pressure. I will take a closer look at it in the weekend for a manufacturers name. Thanks.

Rear air bags ... What psi should they be

After a 1/2 year of owning this new to me 2001 Fleetwood Flair 31A I just discovered two air nipples in the bay where my sewer and electrical are. There is a little plaque that states the air pressure must be maintained to a minimum amount, but that minimum amount of PSI is not stated. I put an air gauge to the nipples and both register zero psi. I called Fleetwood, they said that Ford would have installed the air bags and gave me the number to call, Ford says that Fleetwood would have installed the air bags so I should get the info from them. I gave up and have come here to ask the question. How much air psi should I put in those bags. Thanks Bill.

RE: Can I modify the battery bay and the bay door ?

The house batteries are not under the step, they are in a bay under the drivers seat.

Can you help me understand this battery disconnect switch

This is a very basic battery disconnect switch. I bought this 2001 Fleetwood Flair 31A used and the owner was less than helpful at explaining this switch. I am going to make some presumptions that "Main" is the Cranking Battery and that AUX are the House Batteries. These are obviously rocker switches, if you press upwards, they return to the centre position and if you press downwards they return to the centre position. I am also presuming that "up" is ON and "down" is OFF.

When I press the "main" switch down, I hear a click sound, I presume that some solenoid has opened and the current from the cranking battery is cut off, however I am able to start the engine, so what exactly is being disconnected?
I will have more questions about the "AUX" switch later, I just want to understand the Main switch before moving on.
THanks. Bill

Can I modify the battery bay and the bay door ?

I hate the way that my bay door to the battery compartment only opens 1/2 way. I know the reason is because of the slide above, but when the slide is closed, it sure would be nice to get that bay door all the way open. Would a good welding shop be able to take that door off and modify it so that it opened like a door. The bay doors on the most recent motorhomes open like a door would, I would like to achive that ultimately. At least I would like to get it to open higher than it is now.

I would also like to (if possible) have a local welder remove the battery tray and raise it and possibly put it on tracks so I could pull out the batteries, rather than reaching into the bay. There certainly is enough height in the bay. The whole setup is very awkward and I am not getting any younger / flexible.

RE: How do I remove the battery strap

I thought there might be a trick that I wasn't aware of to get the strap to release, looks like I will cut it and get a battery post type strap for when I have to lift the batteries out in the fall.
Thanks. Bill

How do I remove the battery strap

I bought two new house batteries. I can't secure them with the tie down threaded rods though because the plastic carrying straps are in the way. Is there a way to remove those straps without cutting and destroying them? I bought the Motorhome used and the previous owner just left the batteries loose ( not fastened down ) I feel the batteries should be secured. Thanks. Bill

Battery Caps on or off when charging?

I realize when the batteries are charging from the engine alternator or the house converter that the battery caps are on. When charging from a battery charger, should they be off or can they be left on?
Thanks Bill

Allure flooring issues

Hi, I was convinced that I was going to purchase and install the Allure flooring available at Home Depot in my Motorhome. However the sales rep said it was not meant for Motorhomes because of the environmental conditions experienced. He said that the product needs to be kept at room temperature, and that is not the case for a Motorhome in Ontario Canada that is parked for the winter in very cold conditions. He said the adhesive tape loses its bond and the pieces start separating. I don't know if this guy is blowing smoke or if what he says is true.
If you have the Allure flooring in your Motorhome, please comment.
Thanks. Bill
