RE: North Carolina natives

Can't say I'm a native but hubby is! I've been in NC since 1977....plan to stay :-)

RE: RV shopping.....loss of deposit?!

OP still hasn't given a clear reason for backing out. I'm the OP....-just in case anyone is following....we have purchased the unit. once we intended to sever the deal, the dealership really made an attempt to keep us as a buyer. As some insinuated, we did NOT just change our mind. The negotiations enabled us to make a satisfactory purchase.

RE: NC mountains campsite recommendations

Check out Campfire Lodgings in Asheville. It is small, more adult oriented (no playgrd) & close to grocery store, restaurants. The view is superb. Premium sites really offer premium views. It is pricey but worth the experience. You do drive up a curving slope road to reach campground. Motorhomes, travel trailers do fine. Easy to get around Asheville from this location.

RE: Translation Tables for Convection/Microwave Cooking?

For our home convection oven....you keep the temperature same as directions. Cut back the time to about half & check your food. You will probably be slightly longer than half normal time. I made a "cheat sheet" for things I cook regularly such as chicken breasts, pork chops, etc

RE: Maggie Valley NC

We just left Creekside Farms which is on 276 just off of I40. A few miles from Maggie Valley. Very nice campground, good wifi and very clean and modern. Mike Creekwood Farms? Did you have any issues with getting into your site? Have read that backing in is difficult because their rules require tow vehicles to be parked perpendicular to TT or motorhome. What was your experience?

RE: Another Tire Question

Ran a set of Maxxis on a camper we recently traded. Very pleased with performance. They never ran hot and seem to be the best tire at this time. They may cost more but a cheap tire blowout can cause TT damage which in the end could be more costly. We plan to put new Maxxis on new camper before too long.

RE: Water Leak

Spend $100 on a pressure test - that will tell you exactly where your leaks are and give you a basis for determining how hard and "how much" to fix the leak. Don't forget about the delam issue which can be expensive to fix and can get worse if left untreated. Depending on value of rig combo of "new roof" and delam fix may not make economic sense. X2 Sealtech test charge was $99 in our area last Fall.

RE: Looking Rear Living under 10,000 GVWR....any suggestions?

If you have any interest in Evergreens, check Bill Plemmons website for a 5er 2012 32RL, dry wt is 8060, priced at 32,995. Also have a 2011 TT 34BH-DS priced at 26,976. Composite construction. I don't work for them; just recently been there shopping.

RE: Bearing Grease in rim

1st thing to do when buying a trailer new or used is check the bearings/seals and repack then you know you are good to go. :) Are you saying that the manuf. does not lube bearings when sending out new TT? Whose responsibility is it?

RE: Holiday Rambler Atlantis Slide Locks

This is just a guess but it could be referring to a short adjustable bar that can be placed on interior of slide edge for travel. I recently saw a TT that had this setup. Apparently, there is some controversy as to whether the bar is needed. It is supposed to prevent slide from accidentally deploying in transit. Have never used one nor heard of a slide deploying by itself.

RE: Travel Trailer creaks and cracks when moving?

Grease the trunion ends on the weight distribution bars. Yup. I make it a habit of new grease on the spring bar connections to the hitch as well as the ball every time I hook up. Then a couple of paper towels to wipe off the grease when I unhitch. Wiping off the grease avoids making a mess as well as always having fresh grease the next hitch-up. Ditto

RE: Can Anyone Tell Me What Year....

Evergreen rvs are made with no wood, composite called Compositek. Other brands including Lance are made with Azdel a similar composite. Coachman is making some with composites...not sure if 2013 or 14. I'm sure others will chime in.... Note: I've read that for 2014, the all composite is now an option rather than being standard for the Evergreens.

RE: Awning question what is too much wind

We don't take chances. On a previous TT, had an awning that was tied down instantly lift and blow over TT roof. Wife inside doing morning dishes was shocked! We were in a mountain region, wind was calm and in an instant a major gust blew out of a valley. Luckily, no roof damage but broken piece on arm & no awning use for remainder of that trip.

RE: Portable waste tanks

We like the 18 gal Thetford Smart tote with the built in hose. Our holding tank is larger (40g), no issues when draining due to a popup button on the tote that tells you it is full. We use for black/gray; as said empty black first, gray next will provide a rinse. Remember the larger the unit you have, the more space it will take up in transport. They are kinda bulky.
