RE: Towing Honda Fit

08 Fit, no problems, and I've towed for several 8+ hr. days.
Anything plugged in to the outlet? Radio and heater off?
You should have zero problems.

Just replaced mine from a deer crash, it was a 2000 Ford Explorer. Mine's an 04 though.

RE: I broke my Beast's butt

Eternabond, then duct tape... I had a deer run in to me on I 65 2 months ago and it did some serious damage. Took out the whole headlight assembly, split the fiberglas to the door for the generator and more... it held together for the next 1000 miles or more, and heading downstate to a rally in 2 weeks, so after that we'll think about getting it fixed.

RE: Readybrake may not be an option. What to do..

If I can run the cable for a Honda Fit, I can't imagine a problem with something bigger. I'm with Dutch.

RE: Air Horn electrical hook up

Thanx. If I could find a spot where it plugs in, that'd be a start. I just can't find that starting point.

Air Horn electrical hook up

As some of you know, a deer hit me in the LF a few weeks ago, broad daylight, I 65 and did quite a bit of damage. I've managed to get back on the road, but my air horns don't activate. I have several loose or torn wires behind the headlight assembly but can't locate where one might activate a selonoid or something to run the horns.
Any idea where I might look for the electrical/air connection?

RE: Automatic HWH Air Leveling System Stablity

Step lightly and go with the flow... OK, seriously.
Dump the air all the way down, then level, then hit the Emergency Stop button to keep it from re-setting with the air compressor. That's the best you're gonna get.

Sleeping Bear Dunes without a doubt. It's the beaches and Lake Michigan.

RE: Headlight Assembly Needed - country coach

Thanx again. I figured out that they're from a 2000 Ford Explorer and am ordering today. It'll take a couple days to get, then the real work begins. I've somehow got to get them glassed in so they'll last on the road for a month and a half. We'll limit our driving to daytime but really needed the turn signal, plus something to stop any rain from just pouring in the front all over every wire etc... not that they don't get wet anyway.
I'm a member of the Yahoo group but guess I don't sign on there much... gotta find my password even.
Thx

Thanx for the replies. It was too late last night for me to think straight so these suggestions will get me going this a.m.

Headlight Assembly Needed - country coach

Deer ran out in front of us today on I 65, mid day, sunny, what a mess. Anyway, It took out the whole headlight, some fiberglass, dented the side door and somehow now the front end bounces going down the road. So, seing as its an orphan motor home, does anyone have any suggestions where I should start the search for the headlight assembly?

RE: Flat tire and the snowbank

I'd try to inflate it as well. Just faced the same problem. Digging the motor home out my tag tire was looking pretty low. I'd guess it was around 30. Aired it up and it was a very slow leak. I drove in to the tire shop yesterday and they found a nail. All patched up and ready to go again. Tires are 2010's.

RE: Do Toad's Really Get Beat Up Back There? Looking at new CR-V

We've towed the 08 Fit since new, chipped driving light, chipped windshield, chipped paint... I'm considering pulling the rear rock guard and just going with the mud flaps behind the wheels. I purchased a rock guard but when the installer came he said it wouldn't work because with the drop bar plus the ready brake the distance is too far. My Jeep GC had zero problems... go figure.

RE: 50 Amp Extension Cord

Got a 30' / 50 amp cord on Ebay after our first overnight at an FMCA Rally because we just couldn't reach the outlet no matter how we parked. Have used it very often, including my own hook up at home. Highly recommended.

RE: Traverse City, Michigan

It really depends on how far you want to drive your Toad and what interests you most. If you want to see it all, then closer to TC is best, yes even the State Park. If you're more interested in countryside, beaches, dunes, lakes, then Leelanau County north of TC might be your best bet. Many people want to drive up to the Mackinaw Bridge, or go to Mackinac Island which is 100 miles from TC and want to visit Charlevoix or Petoskey along the way, so they stay just north of TC.
I guess what I'm saying is there are many good parks, all expensive by my standards, though we stay there when our FMCA group has a Rally in the area, but I'd prioritize by activity rather than park amenities.

Glad you made it. We're still stuck here in Traverse City and wanting to get south, but weather and "stuff commitments" keep slowing us down.

RE: Indiana camping in Feb?

thanx for all the discussion. We're so socked in to winter up here that it just seems like it'd be an all night genny thing to keep warm anywhere, but that might be what it takes. Our coach is pretty easy to keep warm as we've camped in snow with hook ups before. We might just have to put in where we can when I get pooped.
thanx again

RE: Indiana camping in Feb?

Thanx. Last year we weren't this late in the year and heading west was a marathon as well as nothing is open. Can't blame them. How'd they keep the place open for a few nuts.
