RE: What would you do?

On the advise of our attorney we have dropped the matter. He said basically what was posted here, unless I was prepared to give them the money to redeem the coach as a gift don't do it.

RE: Thievery at my Storage Site!

Unfortunately there are no reputable storage facilities. They all make you sign disclaimers that keep you from coming back against them for theft, etc. Even the enclosed storage facility we used until our building was built had us sign away or right of recovery.

RE: What would you do?

The sibling was their son and family. He was laid off for 11 months and just went back to work in October. The bank sent them a notice of default and foreclosure. Our friends felt safe in curing the default (without consulting anyone) based upon a conversation with the bank. But as the norm now days it turned out to be a collections department person. What the default funds actually went to was late fees, legal fees and only 50% ended up going toward the default. The Bank continued with the foreclosure and the son got served.
Now our friends are trying to recover the funds the paid in good faith. The legal bills for both the foreclosure and the bad faith case are eating up what they had budgeted for the RV payment. Personally, I wouldn't have sent the Bank a dime without some type of written acknowledgement of how the funds were going to stop the foreclosure, etc. But panic moves sometime have drastic consequences.
I am puzzled as to how the Bank's legal expenses just keep raising the default amount. It like a double hit for them. They have to pay their own legal expenses and then get the Bank's legal fees added to the default balance?
But back to the RV issue. We are considering buying the Motorocach from the them and leasing it back to them until they get through with this mess.
Probably poor judgement on my part, I'm having that option looked at by my attorney. The loan is not behind at this point and the Foreclosure doesn't effect their credit so they should be able to refinance the coach after the legal issues are gone. Yeah I know might be a dumb move. Just what I need two DP's. This is our youngest son's Godfather.

RE: Out of State Purchase

This is a strange adherance to the replacement option language. Ask the Ohio dealer for a completed sales order showing actual sales price, transportation fees and sales tax. That number is the true amount of your policy contribution to the claim payment. We ran into this problem back in 1997 when Allstate wanted to replace our 4 month old vehicle at a dealership in Oklahoma. We enlisted the help of the Texas Department of Insurance. They help clerify the policy language for Allstate and we found a dealer who would match teh Oklahoma price locally. All was well that ended well. Remember that the key is Like, Kind and Quality. Also make sure that your choice of coach really does save them $20K. The Ohio dealer can charge Ohio state sales tax but you get that as an offset on the Texas sales tax collection. There are going to be fees here like inspection and the green sheet for the title conversion. I agree that it should be a mere assignment of the MSO, like stated above an Ohio Transit Tag and payment of the Texas sales tax and titling fees. Make sure the Ohio dealer uses a bonded and insured drive away service instead of just some part timer they hired.

What would you do?

We had a conversation with some good friends last evening who just suffered a huge financial setback. They decided to help one of their siblings save their home and it backfired. Now they are in a very involved legal battle with the bank who went forward with the foreclosure even after accepting their large loan pay down.
They bought a new DP two years ago, borrowed the max offered. With the legal fees and loss of their financial cushion they need to get rid of the RV debt. We feel their pain. They are about $40K upside down according to their best current offer.
Any helpful ideas?

I am a bit confused by the last two posts. I get my local channels had Direct TV set it up that way.

RE: direct tv install question????

We have the new digital winegard setup as another signal source on the flat panel. The tracvision is one source and the digital converter is another. That way we can switch sources from our TV remote. Works great. This is the second coach I setup this way. Since most coaches are either already equipped with a flat panel digital TV or are being converted to one, this is the easy fix. We currently have 4 of the 8 source inputs in use. 1-Direct TV, 2-Digital Converter, 3 BluRay DVD, 4 Computer Screen. The TV audio, except for the computer, goes back to the BluRay DVD player for the 6.1 audio system in the coach.

RE: Switch to XM Radio

I had the radio in our new coach changed out for a new Kenwood double DIN unit. It has Sirius, Navigation, CD/DVD/AM/FM/HD and we had a steering wheel "Thumber" control. I had a similar unit in the old coach and it was great for out of HomeBase travel. The new one has features we haven't even explored yet. The one feature we discovered is the one touch weather alert system. The company that installed ours is getting us an interphase that allows us to view our radio screen on the flat panel. Just way too much electronics but I like the option of using the flat panel to trip plan. These units are getting very reasonable. Ours has cost around $1200 so far including installation.

RE: Air Brake Inspection

I had the inspection done anyway. The guy that did the inspection said that RV's were exempt but it should be part of any annual inspection. I even got a sticker as a certified clean idle vehicle while I was there. It woul dbe a lot easier to do the inspection on a Commercial Tractor as the accuators are out in the open. I am going to make it part of my list.

RE: DFW To MIA

I drive that route once a month as far as Mobile, AL. I go I-20 to I-49 at Shreveport to I-10 then I-12 around the north shore of Lake Ponchatrain back to I-10. The road around Jackson, MS is a nightmare bumpy for DP's.

Air Brake Inspection

I was talking to our local dealer about chassis inspection check list and said he thought there was federal requirement for an annual air brake inspection? I call our states DPS and they confirmed that chassis of 26K GVWR or higher with air brakes do require and annual federal inspection? The inspection station was surprised when I pulled up because they think RV's are exempt. I can't find any info where they are exempt.

RE: BanksIQ

This is another Banks "Private Label" product that is actually mfg. by another company. http://www.sctflash.com/
You can buy the SCT Extreme now at SCT dealers. It does have limited applications, but they are adding new vehicles quickly. It eventually it will cover all of their applications Ford and GM.

RE: BEWARE - Scams abound!

I saw a report on one of the TV stations about one of these ads. It turned out that the picture was legitimate but the ad wasn't. They posted the ad in a city where a relative of the coach owner lived and they recognized the photo as one that was taken in their driveway! Again the EBay storage lot and EBay payment etc, etc. I though it was comical that a car dealer actual took a shot at Craigs List when most of their ads are just as misleading. Like "your out of pocket is only 1/2 of MSRP".....It's a lease and you aren't buying the car! DUH!

RE: Ford Super Duty OBDII connection

Tom,
I was looking at your profile to see what kind of coach you had but it shows a E350 cutaway Class B ??? What brand of coach are you working on? Most of the coaches have the OBDII plug concealed behind the instrument panel. It is not like cab & chassis units where they are positioned below the steering wheel lower trim panel. I worked on a Dolphin that had it outside under the hood next to the ECM. Not my idea of the greatest place to protect it.

RE: HELP! Insurance claim may be denied

I am hesitant to comment on this situation because there seems to be a few missing pieces and it may be because everything we have been provided has been second hand. I have not seen a policy with language that would cause this to be denied based upon a fulltime exclusion. The exclusions I saw dealt with liability claims and medical payments coverages for fulltime exposures. The physical damage coverage does not appear to be contingent on Full Time or Part Time use. Lots of holes on this one.

RE: Accident & insurance

Ask the adjuster for his Total Loss Work Up Sheet and the comps he used to establish value. You can't just pull a number out of a hat. Best part of having his work sheet is his comps may give you a lead on a replacement close to what you had. Only those items that were upgrades can be used to add value. The new a/c and Refridge are considered wear and tear replacements and don't add full value to the coach. If you find a comp, request that the new a/c units and fridge be change out with your new units if the are usable.

I-20 WB Longview/Marshall,Texas

I came through the Longview area yesterday and saw that they are repaving and restriping I-20 near the 520 MM in the WB lanes. The pavement showed lots of skidmarks and it was not very well marked about the lane closures. As usual there were lots of cars trying squeeze in to traffic at the last minute.
