RE: Damaged poop pipe on 2009 Winnebago View seek advise

Lee, Wow, that's a lot of money but you are getting a great adventure mobile out of it. Very neat. Just a few corrections I gave you the Old White Feather web site the new one is: White Feather Conversions

Well I think you can try that with nothing to lose. If it fails your fallback is to replace the Y which is the only other plan anyway. How much does it cost to convert it to 4WD? Is there a transfer case? Lo/ high range? Snowman9000, Well, it's not chump change. It costs about $25,900 for the complete conversion. I had it done by a "Mad Scientist" named Craig Jackson, in Red Bluff, California. The guy is a genius and is extremely professional in his work. Apparently only guy that does this sort of thing in USA. Check out his website for all the details about conversions. Great reading! Here is a link to his company: WhiteFeather Conversions My budget for my finished View was under $90,000. It costs $109,000 when it was first sold new in 2009. I found a 2009 with 68K miles for $48,000 and then $29,500.00 for conversion + I guess I went overboard on what I had Craig do but his work is better than I will find anywhere else so he has installed: Receiver hitch for front of View Warn series 9000Winch that works on front or rear of rear of vehicle HWH hydraulic leveling system Xantrex 3,000 watt inverter with 2 D8 batteries custom rack aft of rear axle for batteries Custom Air bags for rear suspension Aluminess front bumper with light force lights Pro Comp work lights for rear of vehicle add tow package and install for 2007 Wrangler Jeep for towing I am hoping to pick up View in a week or so and take it to Arizona for Christmas for a test drive. I should add, you can look up Plasti-Mend online. They make an ABS repair kit which I used on several different waste tank and pipe cracks, leaks, etc. It works great. In your case I could see grinding off the latching nubs on your damaged piece, then getting a new one that is female on the back side, to slip over the damaged piece. Securing it with ABS solvent and doing the Plasti-Mend over the joint and any cracks or damage. If you watch their videos you will see the possibilities. However, it is probably more expensive than just buying new parts and cutting and gluing them in place. thank you for the info on Plastic-mend

RE: Damaged poop pipe on 2009 Winnebago View seek advise

Well, I dont know if I am doing this right but I wanted to thank everyone for their opinion, suggestions, links and great ideas. Since i have just converted the view to four wheel drive my road clearance has increased by an additional 4 1/2" so ground clearance will not be an issue. So a lot of the cut and add a adapter and put the new replacement piece is very appealing. But I am attracted to the suggestion to cut the pipe off and use a hacksaw blade to cut the pipe inside the "Y" and chisel out the rest of it and glue a new one in. Its great to have the support of so many RVer's out there. Thanks a bunch, Lee Utterback

When one of the plastic pieces breaks you usually have to cut out the old one and glue/cement in the new one with a adapter. Here is link to a place with many fittings. Sanitation fittings. You will need some ABS Cement to put it back together. Lowes and HD carry it. May find some of the fitting there also. My local RV dealer carries a good supply. thank you for the link

I had that problem with my first RV. I just used some epoxy to coat the pipe where the leaking existed. Worked fine for the three years before a tree crushed the RV during winter storage. There is no pressure other than gravity in the drainage system so you just need something to seal up any cracks. Otherwise the drain pipes have been glued together as with any ABS plastic system. You have to cut the pipe before the crack and glue a repair section on. very practical solution thanks

You might have to replace the "Y" pipe to get the job done right. Just keep that thought when researching this. It's not a lot of money for such parts. As with everything RV, it might be tricky to replace the "Y" pipe. I would call Winnebago and pick their brain. Thank you for your thoughts

you could easily just epoxy one of those short extensions or clear plastic thingys to the old/broken end if there is room. bumpy Thanks for your thoughts

Damaged poop pipe on 2009 Winnebago View seek advise

Hello to all, I just bought a 2009 Winnebago View in May. It seems that the previous owner must have come off a steep driveway and damaged slightly the plastic piece of 3" pipe that the waste hose twists onto to dump the grey/black tanks. Every time I go to dump the tanks I get a little leakage between the pipe and the hose. Pretty stinking and ugly and a bit of a clean up. I ordered a new part from Winnebago see link: See part # 42 I am told that the pipe is glued to the piece above it which is the "Y" that goes to each tank. How do I go about getting this piece apart from the why and what do I use to attach the replacement piece. Apparently it is not threaded, according to sales lady, or is it? View is 300 miles away so I can't check it out myself. If its threaded I am a happy camper. What sealant or pipe dope do you recommend using for replacement? Thanks to all Lee
