Chattahochee Bend State Park -Georgia

Hi all! Hubby and I are debating on whether to stay at High Falls-where we've stayed many times over 30 years- or try Chattahochee Bend for a long weekend coming up in June. The photos in the state park gallary sure look like the camping sites would be hot. If any of you have stayed there in the summer please let us know what it's like. We like our shade to help keep camper cooler and for the ambiance. Also, is there a town nearby to get groceries, etc. Thanks!

RE: Between camping trips I sometimes...

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question. It's good to know Hubby and I are within the norm in wanting to "touch base" and relax with our second home. Thanks for the wonderful support for us as we take this "journey" with our parents. Thank you also for the advice. We have learned to be pro active and not just re active in our efforts to help them. Your stories about your pets made me laugh out loud. Our neighbor's old dog has decided to adopted our house as well as her own. My neighbor tells me that when we are gone with the camper, she can't hardly get the dog home because she is guarding our house! Often when I go sit in the camper, she "guards" the steps until I come out. Thanks again everyone, you lightened my day.

Between camping trips I sometimes...

I am a caregiver for my dad. It is an honor and most days a joy to give back to someone who has always been there for me. But, there are days... I found myself this year going out to the 5th wheel in the backyard more and more often to just sit and contemplate, read, watch a tv show,or do a hobby. It's my no stress zone and a half hour there, sometimes one or two hours, helps with the wait between camping trips. Hubby's parents are now in need of more help these days too. Hubby has started going out there sometimes as well. He told me I was right. It did help in de-stressing. We've even had a meal out there a few times. The large window to the dinnette overlooks our wooded back property. I wonder how others use their camper between trips?
