RE: Heading north, which crossing at Laredo

Thanks from me also for the information. I remember very well the xray of the RV several years ago at this location. We must have been the 1st ones to have our RV xrayed because the xray guys couldn't understand why we had been sent there, and we were not xrayed the year before. We were there for over 3 1/2 hours...me standing out in +38 degree celsius, swatting mosquitoes until after mid-night. By the time Paul emerged, after all that idling, we were out of gas! One of our finer "RV moments"! This time we will be crossing just in our car, so hopefully things will go smoothly and quickly.
Thanks again for the details.

RE: Heading north, which crossing at Laredo

Is immigration in the middle lane after the hard right? Where to turn in document and get passport stamped?

RE: Heading north, which crossing at Laredo

We always went the extra 1/2 hour to the Columbia Bridge- no problems whatsoever with a big rig. We have crossed at #2 in our car- not sure if I would do it with the RV...a little cramped for space IMO.

Here in Zihua is has been a cooler than usual April. Still sleeping with the blanket and sheet on us. The ocean is definitely cooler than it was in March.

RE: the famous article 106

Gracias. That is exactly what I was looking for.
Yes the Permanente, although no changes have been put out yet, does create a problem with the vehicle. I discovered that my Nissan which I thought would never leave Mexico, is not eligible for permanent importation because of the VIN. Didn't know anything about that when I bought this car, with the idea that it would live forever in Mexico. So I am driving it back to friendly Manitoba where it will become my "summer car", and will buy a Mexican car here in Zihua when I return in Sept. Then I will be invincible and hassle free for the rest of my life, right? of course right.
Thanks again for the link. Nice chatting with you again. Stay well.

RE: the famous article 106

oh...haha....I meant the one about TIP vehicles being legal as long as our immigration status is legal. RVers and people who drive their cars here used to carry this in their glove box. Maybe that is a thing of the past?

RE: what if I have a medical problem

Sorry- no refund for anything in Canada. Since we aren't there for a minimum of 6 months, they won't cover us unless we are are in Manitoba. That's why we have mexican med insurance...we just didn't spend our deductible this time round. Hope we never do.

what if I have a medical problem

This is a question which has been asked countless times, but so many people while travelling and/or living in Mexico. I decided to do my own research and see what I could learn. As well, Paul & I had a little "situation" of our own to deal with. My article is much too long to put on the forum, but if anyone wants to see what I learned and/or read about our own personal experience, please visit my blog...my much neglected blog since 2009, at www.leonardjournals.blogspot.com
All the best to my RV.net friends.

RE: Belgique - Sad

Oh Steve, I am so very sorry to hear this news about Danielle. And thank you so much for remembering me at this time. I only occasionally come back to this forum, and for some unknown reason, today I felt I had to come and browse...and there you are. I am so very honored that I was able to do something to help both of you to enjoy years of enjoying Mexico. I hope you will be comforted during this most difficult time, and hold dear all those wonderful memories of Danielle. May God be with you....both of you.
