RE: Saturday College Football Discussions!

Yep, the SEC games are all tough. Even schools like Vandy can be tough. Arkansas has put a lot of guys into the pros.

RE: Saturday College Football Discussions!

It has always been like this. The BCS is an attempt to put some scientific data into it by looking at those many other factors. Undefeated is a relative thing as to who you have played and who they have played, points for and against, ETC. Most of the time it agrees with the writers and coaches polls, which are totally subjective. Undefeated is just one of many meassures and the coaches, writers, and the BCS computers look at all of the factors before making up their minds. I wish there was a national playoff system, but that isn't going to happen due to money and tradition.

Their other quarterback (Brantly) played last week and was great. He was rated the #1 quarterback in the country in high school. He has two years left. They are pretty deep and have had good recruiting. If he goes, it will be because of religious reasons in my opinion. Hard to believe that Saint Peter could turn away the coach of ND.

RE: Saturday College Football Discussions!

Coach Myer said today on his regular Monday press conferance that he, "loved this place and wasn't going anywhere for a long time." Of course football coaches have a long history of saying this and then leaving, but I think he will be staying.

The BCS computer looks at hundreds of factors when making their rankings. They have SEC teams as #1 and #2 and that indicates to me that the conference is in fact a very tough coference. Saying that the SEC plays nobody indicates emotion over facts. Once again there will be an SEC team in the BCS finals and if you remember, they usually will.

The easy games are also how a lot of stars are born. Demps and Rainey at Florida both came to shine in an easy game. Hard for a coach to put in two very light and very quick backs into the game at the same time if every play counts. The speed facor with Florida has been fantastic, but hard to evaluate in practice with limited contact. I would like to see the NFL ban all players that were still college elegable. They still have a lot of time to make their millions. I hear now that the Poncy twins will be leaving for the pros a year early. Hard to turn down the millions. Their Mother still lives in a trailer and they can sign for a lot. Harbin signed for a huge bonus as a first round draft pick and has done wonders at MN. Basketball takes kids right from high school.

I don't think the money will matter one way or the other. He makes a huge amount on endorsments. Much more than from the school. I suspect the ND endorsments would be more, but you never know. This rabid gator country. He loves a chalenge. He loss the OC last year and a lot of talk about Strong, the DC being a head coach somewhere also. Once you get to this level, the money doesn't matter that much. Steve Supperier, has a net worth of over $50 million and just announced he will be coaching again next year at age 65. Bowen and Paterno are both at it at 80 plus. Its in the blood.

I sure hope so. He loves to rebuild and is very religious.

RE: Saturday College Football Discussions!

It can var week to week, but in the SEC, they play each other 8 games where there are really no powderpuff teams. Most of the teams schdule a lower level team like FIU or Chattonoga as #1 FL and #2 AL did this last week. I think most high level programs have a ringer in their schedules. You must look at the entire schedule, not just one week. The BCS computer looks at hundreds of "facts" like who has played who and the total scores, yards, and stuff only a computer could keep tract of. This is why TX and AL have swapped around when they both won. The coach's and sportwriters is all subjective. I wish we had a national playoff sytem, but don't see that happening. Too much money and tradition involved.

RE: Saturday College Football Discussions!

As I said in my previous posting Bagman, these games do have a purpose. I also left out the advantages to the poorer team. They make a lot of money for the schools. I'll bet the players will remember playing in front of 80,000 people a lots longer than beating another school in front of 18,000 people. College sports are really like a business now (unfortunately) and about half of the players will never get a chance to play unless these powderpuff teams are on the schedule. I remember the movie about Rocky from ND. That story is played out a lot with these easy games. I believe all the players, coaches, and fans know what the outcome will be. The real value is to the subpar players. We had a team close by here (USF) that was like brunt of many a good team. They kept getting better and better and even made it up into the nation's top 10.

RE: Saturday College Football Discussions!

These powderpuff type games at the end of the season do have a good purpose. They allow some of the next geneation of talent to display their stuff and give the coaches a chance to plan out the summer stragity. It also allows some of the marginal players who have worked their tails off for 4 years in practice to get on the field and let their families see them play in front of 80,0000 people. These games will be remembered a lifetime by these young men as they go on to the next phases of their lives without playing football. These big colleges have as any as 90 young men on the team. Of course having those two (so far) BCS rings helps a lot also. GO GATORS

When you are number 1 and 2 just about everybody is an inferior team. They play 8 SEC games and there are no marshmellow teams there. They will meet in Atlanta in Nov on national TV. I am sue they will be watched by millions and one of them will be going on to the BCS finals where they will be watched again by millions. If you refuse to watch, I am sure they will be crushed. Owns a camel farm. Wow. I have had friends from all over, but never an arab. I guess under the clothes, most people generally put their family first.

I hope Iowa gets a shot at the SEC #2 team. Right now it looks as if Iowa will be in the Capitol One Bowl against LSU. I think the #2 SEC team will be the loser of the SEC Championship game in Atlanta which will probably be AL as Florida will beat them in a close game once again. GO GATORS.

RE: Lazy Days RV service

They went months and months not paying their vendors leaving a trail of tears behind them. Having run a small business myself, having major customers not paying your for months can cause extreme pain and secondary bankrupies. Thinking this through is a good thing. They used their vendors as a bank for months. Vendors need their money themselves. When you sell something, you make a contract to pay for it. Not doing so in the agreed upon time can kill off small vendors. I know from my own experience that this happens.

RE: Lazy Days RV service

Do you know what that means, or are you just spouting information you've heard. Chapter 11 is a way for them to reorganize with their debtors, and still survive....which I am certain they will. I do know what Chapter 11 means to all of the companies and small business people they owed money to. Their decision to go Chapter 11 meant others who trusted them and who extened them credit are now taking it in the shorts due to them. How many others were devistated by them seeking governemnt protection from paying the debts they owed? Answer is a lot of people and families. As far as being certain they will survive even after not paying off their creditors and sending others down the drain, not too many business folks would agree. I hope they do, but if they do, they will be the exception.
