RE: Tipping park escort?

Just finished my first season as a workcamper, and had to chime in on this one. To give a little background, I'm mid 40's and well educated, not trying to support myself or my family from this job, and worked in a fairly large CG (300 seasonal, and 300 "weekender" sites).
We offered an escort to every guest. Most of the repeat customers simply decline the offer, as they are familiar with where they are going.
New guests are offered an escort if they desire, but not all take the offer. However, we do have a few sites that will get a new guest an escort, wanted or not. These are sites that require a 180 turn if you don't take the slightly longer route, and frankly, I've repaired enough water lines this summer, so YOU ARE TAKING THE LONGER ROUTE...lol
As far as tipping, I have never been offered one for escorting, and frankly don't expect one. I have accepted tips for going beyond what would normally be expected, and also gone above and beyond the call without even a thank you, it is just part of the experience.

RE: Check your Propane Refill

At the campground here we charge the same reguardless of how much is already in the tank. The exception is bulk fills, such as motorhome tanks. After talking to hundreds of customers, it seems the per gallon pricing is more common in the west.
Some folks seem confused as to the 80% full issue also. 20lb is filling your tank 80% full. If you bring me your tank, I will first check the date on it to be sure it can still be refilled. Then I look for the tare weight, which varies but is usually around 17-18lb. Assuming tare of 18, I set the top beam of the scale at 20lb, allowing 2lb for the weight of the hose and valve. Then I set the bottom beam at 20lb, which is the weight of propane that will be in your tank when I'm done.
As for not getting 20lb with an exchange tank, we also have a rack of exchange tanks, supplied by Amerigas, and the rack clearly states that the tanks contain 17lb. I'm not saying its fair, but it is clearly stated.
I even have a sure fire way to sell a refill. All I have to do is start a project at the rear of the campground and I guarantee I get a call to the front for propane within 5 minutes :B

I have noticed that the big three have been trying to give the diesels away, now I know why.

RE: Dick's Sporting Goods

Just beware what they advertise is not what they have in stock. They have not been able to meet the advertised price on ammo for at least 8 months.

Pretty much a "swing and miss" for us here in cloudy, yet coal rich Ohio.

RE: why add new plug in bed...just plug in by hitch?

Dang, sure seems like a lot of people got extra long cables. I guess I should take mine back and demand 4 more feet of cable. Just out of curiousity, what the heck do all you "long cable" guys do with all of your bungie cords if they happen to be too long for the given task? Why do I think that most of the foks here go buy shorter bungies, rather than just tying a knot in a long one? YMMV

I use my truck to haul too much dirt/gravel/mulch to be putting electrical connections in the bed.

RE: Detaching Dinette Table

I removed the 2 screws that held our table in place. Don't strap it or the chairs in place while towing and have had no movement what-so-ever, but it shouldn't take long to strap them if you chose to. Sure is nice being able to move the table.

RE: Par boil potatoes in advance?

Microwave them, then refridgerate overnight. They keep for a few days, and crisp up nicely when sliced and fried.

I'll post a pic of our site as soon as the DW shows me how, but our cart can't compete with those Decker paint jobs.
