RE: Florida bound end of December, furnace question

Just something to keep in mind when running the furnace with the slides in.....if the slides are blocking furnace vents, it can cause issues with the performance and a shut-down. That's the problem I ran into.

RE: Fl Keys Screwworm Status ??

I live here on Big Pine. I have Key Deer living in the wildlife area across the street. There are something like 120 folks from the USDA and such here. Over 200 volunteers are out feeding the deer meds. Over 13 million irradiated male screw flies released. Around 130 deer killed, mostly males. The males gets wounded during rut, allowing the screw worms to get started. The rut is about over and the numbers of deer killed are way down. Due to egg laying cycles and such it will take 6 months to get rid of it. What are your concerns? .

RE: RV Consumer Group

I love that "Highway Control" rating---like they have any idea. I had a Newmar MountainAire with dual tandem wheels---it scored poorly. After pulling that thing a couple of hundred thousand miles (really), I never figured out what the problem was. Around 15 years ago "they" was just a guy. You could buy a membership that included maybe 30 minutes of phone time with the guy---forget his name. About the same time there was a discussion in another forum about this guys use of the non-profit, yet there was none of the required IRS filings by the group.

RE: South Western Campgrounds

You can see from my map I've been a few places and have never felt "un-safe" anywhere.

RE: Keys Palms ??

At over $200, (counting tax) for a water front site per night, you need deep pockets for a stay there. I'm sure the price to build that place is just as shocking.

RE: Changing home residence question

You would then file your state taxes as a "non-resident" of the state and pay any appropriate taxes. What kind of state tax are you talking about? I live in Florida I own homes and vehicles in another state. I pay property tax and registration fees. But I don't "file any state taxes as a "non-resident" ".

RE: Changing home residence question

I changed my residence to Florida and I did talk to an attorney. In addition to what has been mentioned, I filed a "declaration of domicile" with the County Clerk. I did that to make clear where I lived so there was no question about owing state income tax to my previous state. I received a large amount of income six weeks after the change. The attorney told me some states attempt to collect income taxes in this situation.

RE: Fifth Wheel Hitch Decision

I got some new rails to put my old Reese in my 15 Chevy dually. That job was a huge PITA. My next new pickup will have the 25K Curt that Chevy offers.

RE: Window Tint Film And Solar Heat Issues

I had tint film put on some west windows of my Florida house. I went with a 30 product, fearing it would block too much light. It's hardly noticeable. https://huperoptikusa.com/products/ceramic-series/ http://www.aswf.com/html/products/products_archi_solar_moonlight.html

RE: Keeping RV registered in different state after moving?

I live and own homes in Florida and Nebraska. I have a pickup, couple of motorcycles and the fifth wheel registered in Nebraska. I have a pickup, car, several motorcycles and boat registered in Florida. The Nebraska vehicles are insured through a Nebraska company, Florida vehicles in Florida. The insurance for all of that, a couple of ATV's and a 3rd home isn't cheap.

RE: Camping near Rapid City, South Dakota

X2 on Rafter J. Nicest campground in all of the Hills. Not so close to Rapid City. And I sure it's booked full for several weeks.

RE: Lippert Auto Leveling

If it's nose high to begin with, you need to run out the jacks a bit, before extending the legs. Then you will have "room" to lower before the jacks are all the way in. I use 6" blocks under my jacks to decrease the extended length. I try to get equals parts of extension leg and jack.
