RE: 2005 Teton Grand 5th wheel front landing gear problems

Teton used Alfa's Z frame. The frame didn't drop till aft of the storage area. So any support would be under the frame in the overhang area. Unless you have a lot of big wood, not a good idea. There are pin supports available. Why can't you use a pickup?

RE: Strawberry Festival FL

Point is there is 12/3 wire and a 30 amp breaker so what is the problem. I have had standard household outlets 12/3 wire and 30A breakers in my RV slip 10 years. Ten gauge wire is used for 30 amp, not twelve gauge. The "standard household outlet" (receptacle) is approved for 15 or 20 amp, not 30 amp. WOW. You really know your stuff. I am so very glad that you educated me. I think tomorrow first thing I will tear out all the old 12/3 wire in my RV slip and put in 10 gauge wire. I will also change out all of my receptacles. Thanks again My, aren't you a charming person? Twelve gauge wire and 20 amp receptacles on a 30 amp breaker won't be a problem - that is unless you actually start pulling 30 amps through it. Apparently you never have. I'm trying to be helpful, what are you trying to be? http://www.nachi.org/forum/attachments/f19/46348d1310493734-main-wire-size-wire-sizing-table-code-check.jpg Like I said I am going to tear out all the old 12/3 wire in my RV slip and put in 10 gauge wire. I will also change out all of my receptacles. Thanks again. You aren't really going to do that --right? Why say you are? 30 amps going in--needs 10#. Circuits in the rig need 14# for 15 amps and 12# is good for 20 amps.

RE: Regional Weirdness Examples

The Coke has to be in the small 6-1/2 ounce green glass bottle and peanuts have to be a bag of Tom's (Lance will work in a crunch). Do you mean in a pinch?

RE: Should RV parks take cards as payment.

What is all of this "it's against the law" stuff? It's against the law to speed.

RE: How old were you when you retired?

I was 37 when I quit working. After that, I never found anything that suited me--but I didn't really look. Like they say, work never hurt anyone--but why take a chance!

RE: Can I walk on top of slide?

I haven't had any problem walking on mine.

Reese 22K Hitch

I see the Reese 22k hitch looks exactly like my old 20K Reese. It even has the same model number--30033. So, I'm guessing it's the same hitch, but now rated for more weight? My new trailer has a 21K GVW. Probably no need to spend $1000 for a hitch just like the one I have.

Are there plenty of sites open at Lazy Days?

Fishing Bridge would be a pita with that trailer. Go to Grizzly, a very nice place.

RE: My vote for best vacuum

My DRV came with a cordless Dyson, great little vacuum. So, I bought one for the house. The house has an AirVac system, but who wants to haul hoses and cords around. The Dyson is great.

RE: Open site at Bahia Honda

There is no waiting list. You have to the next one in the office when a site opens.

RE: DRV 43 footers - Dallas and others - Actual purchase prices?

I bought a 2014 Elite with a MSRP of $158 for $113. I called Lazy Days. The guy there added $11K for a option not listed. The 4 other dealers I talked to all used the price sheets and came up with the same MSRP. LD's "MSRP" was $11K higher. A comparable New Horizons was $70K more than the Elite. .

Looks like you don't need any less room between the fifth and the tailgate.

RE: St. George Utah

The average high in Jan is 54. Probably not so good for snowbirding.

Is a Overloaded Tire Damaged?

Is a tire somehow damaged by running overloaded for 650 miles? Overloaded enough to cause the prior tire to blowout.

RE: Now that I saw a New Horizons, will anything else do?

The New Horizons costs $70K more than a comparable DRV Elite Suites. That's 60%. I didn't see much more "value" than the DRV I wonder if it's the things you CAN'T see that really make up the difference. The in house built frame that they didn't even flinch at my question when I asked if I could tow a jeep behind it or hang a big Harley off the back, the triple axles, the laminate walls, the insulated floors in the slides, the 100% fiberglass exterior... Their frame combined with triple axles gave the show unit at the Tampa RV show a carrying capacity of well over 4000 lbs. All those little things add up to huge price differences. Do we all need all of that quality? Probably not. Would I pay for all those things if money were not an issue? Absolutely. And what do you have to say about the patch job I mentioned? The part you didn't quote?

RE: Now that I saw a New Horizons, will anything else do?

I did the New Horizons factory tour this summer. On one unit, they cut a baggage door hole in the wrong place. So, they "repaired" it. Should have seen what that looked like before it was painted. How would you like your sidewall to have a piece of cut fiberglass surrounded by filler? The New Horizons costs $70K more than a comparable DRV Elite Suites. That's 60%. I didn't see much more "value" than the DRV
