RE: e

I tell everybody that I can to stay as far away from that place as possible. I agree with Charlie D and just don't understand how Camping World could partner with such a consistent bad reviews dealership. They got me in 2004 and when I go to the CW I will not even look towards their side of the property.

RE: Dish VIP222k Receiver Connections

I have this same receiver in my home. I was upset when I learned that the 2nd TV was SD and not HD. Mine is set up with just a coax cable running from the receiver in the den to the TV in the rear. They did have to put a small antenna on the cable to receive the remote commands. It sounds as though there may be something in your switch box that is making the 2nd TV snowy. But with as little as I know about this, its just a thought. I was thinking of maybe try a short test coax (if you can move your 2nd TV near the receiver) and see how the picture comes in. Connect it directly from the receiver to the 2nd TV. That may let you know if there is something wrong with the current coax that the signal accesses the 2nd TV. JMHO

RE: Back up camera for our Montana 5th wheel

Check with Tim at RVcams He showed me one a while back that gets power from your running lights and has a wireless transmitter to the monitor. Very easy to setup.

RE: Gulf Shores Alabama

That is our favorite place to stay in Gulf Shores. Great rates, nice place close to the beach.

RE: How Long does it take to get lifetime member goodies

I paid for my lifetime membership on June 15 at a Camping World. Around the 1st of August I received 3 (yeah 3) id cards and window stickers in 3 separate envelopes. Nothing else so far....

RE: fender skirt

When I had that same situation I went to a local RV dealer who does repairs. This dealer does not even sell my brand. They were able to order the correct fender for me.

RE: IPhone 4 has stopped downloading mail

Turn the phone off for 15 seconds and then power it back up. Basically just a reboot. That worked for me last week! Good luck.

RE: Fontainebleau State Park, Louisiana

Fontainebleau State Park took a huge hit from Hurricane Katrina and took a long time to recover. It is now open and very nice. The park has two separate camping areas. One is very shaded and the other is more in the open. There is a nice boardwalk that goes over the marsh area of Lake Ponchartrain in the park that you should be sure to visit. They also have several new cabins that are a bit away from the campground that are very nice. They are directly on the lake. The Tammany Trace is amazing. They covered the old railroad tracks with asphalt and made a very nice trail. It is about 8 feet wide and goes for miles. Since it is over the old RR track, it runs parallel to the roadway but is not close to the roadway. Madisonville is just to the west of the park and also the home of Fairview-Riverside State Park. It has a small town charm and some great restaurants that you will love if visit there. As was mentioned earlier, the causeway is there in Mandeville and can be seen from the park. It is a 40 minute drive across a 26 mile bridge to New Orleans, which could be a great day trip. Fountainebleau is one of my favorite parks to visit, and the area surrounding the park is very nice to visit.

RE: Winegard Carryout Manual Antenna -MP1

My Carryout works great on the Dish Network. No complaints at all. I was one of those always fighting to get the signals with the dish on a tripod. Now in less than 5 minutes setup time I am watching Satellite TV!

Weight concerns

After reading and posting on this forum for several years, I now have a weight question. In too many cases I see where people do not have “enough truck” to safely tow their camper and I don’t want to fall into this category. Most of these folks learn of their fate AFTER they have bought the truck and camper only to find out they either have not enough truck or too much camper. In my case I already have the truck and want to ensure that I don’t buy too much camper. I have a 2011 F-350 SRW 2WD crew cab with a regular bed (6’) with the 6.7 diesel. It has the 11200# GVR package along with the camper package (which is mainly just a sway bar). It has the 3.31 electronic locking axle. It has a 16,000 lb max loaded 5th wheel trailer rating and a 3,740 lb payload weight rating. I have a Reese 16,000 lb 5th wheel hitch installed. My current camper is a 2000 Sunnybrook Mobile Scout 27RK fifth wheel. I have not weighed the truck or the camper and I am more than sure that I am ok with this combo. However, I am looking to purchase a new 5’er in the near future and want to make sure that I stay within the safe weight limits of my truck. As has been stated on this forum many times, the weight stickers on campers are usually incorrect. With the information that I have already provided, what weight limits should I shop for on my new camper and should I go with a larger hitch? We are looking at the Cedar Creek 36CKTS which the 2012 brochure shows as having a dry hitch weight of 1402 lbs. Dry ship weight 11,032 lbs, and a GVWR of 15,402 lbs. My simple math says that I am under the 16,000 limit of my truck and way under the 3,740 payload limit of my truck. Of course the dealer says that they pull these things with F-250’s all the time and my truck is more than enough for this camper. He says I need a 26,000 lb hitch and suggests air bags for leveling purposes only. Is he correct? There is a CAT scale less than 1 mile from this dealer. Do you think I should ask him to hook up the camper to my truck and put it on the scales? Thanks in advance for any help!
